Overview
Iris Drake is, in many ways, a force of nature. A lot of it is just the attitude that comes with being a dragon, with knowing that not only is she amazing but everyone should recognize just how awesome she is. The fact that she's got the talent and sheer personality to back up her self-confidence more often than not certainly doesn't hurt (or doesn't help, depending on perspective). It has led to her becoming a well known presence in the modern world, though more in certain circles than in others.
As an internet celebrity of notable renown and an advocate for social change, she's well known in the sorts of circles that do things like watch YouTube videos or care about issues like social equality... on either side of the argument. She's the kind of person who works to change the lives of oppressed and disadvantaged people wherever she finds a cause to fight for, and who makes a lot of enemies of the people who think that the things she fights for are opposed to everything they stand for.
Being a dragon, she laughs at the death threats and not-so-secretly hopes they'll try. Until they do, she'll just go on being her awesome self.
RP Hooks
- Changeling - Iris spent a long time in Arcadia, and nearly as long back in the mortal world since her return. At Wyrd 7 she's more fae than human at this point, but she's also rather fond of the mortal world and the promises it brings, and a champion of everyone who dwells within it as their preferred realm. At least, as long as they aren't hurting others in the process. On the other hand, she's not so terribly human any more herself, and tends to think more like one might imagine a dragon would than your typical human-variety person.
- Dragon - Of the feathered, brilliantly colored kind, more Quetzalcoatl than Bahamut, but a dragon none the less. That nature fuels a good deal of her mindset, from arrogance and audacity to a need to gather a hoard of wealth for no other reason than that she can (and, since she's awesome, she deserves it doesn't she?). Yes, she even sleeps on a pile of treasure.
- Dawn - The tendency that the Dawn Court has toward willingness to sacrifice might seem at odds with the selfishness of a dragon, but in her mind that just goes to prove that even for a dragon, Iris is awesome. Iris is a true believer in Dawn's cause, and uses what power and influence she wields (in whatever weird ways she might wield it) to try to bring hope to the lives of others, to recognize the potential in others that they might not even see in themselves, and to help them to achieve that potential if she can. She's a constant force for change, and for change that she hopes will make the lives of people better than they were, and she has demonstrated more than once that she's willing to put her life on the line to bring that change about, or even just to protect others.
- Gilded Aspirant - Most members of the Sacred Band of the Golden Standard join it because they're awesome, and the rest of the band recognized that and asked them to. Iris is awesome. They weren't fools, so they invited her. She's not a fool, so she joined. More awesome for everyone.
- Magician - Iris is a world renowned magician of the card tricks, pulling rabbits from a hat variety. She doesn't perform big shows, she doesn't go on world tours, nothing like that, but anyone who knows anything about the world of stage magic knows who she is. Her specialty is card mechanics, and it's widely thought that there may be nobody in the world better than she is... even when she doesn't cheat with Changeling magic. Despite that, she tends to do street magic (with many youtube videos), small shows with smaller audiences (and outrageous ticket prices that sell out almost instantly), or turning up when there are prizes to be won in competitions.
- Internet Celebrity - Iris has wholeheartedly embraced the strange world of internet fame, and is well known on Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, and pretty much anywhere else with social media followings to be won. She posts regularly, makes outrageous amounts of money for essentially no work at all, and often uses that fame as a platform to push for social change. She has been known to personally get involved when fans are going through difficult times due to persecution for who they are, from simply mentioning their GoFundMe when someone needs help to paying for lawyers to represent people who need help.
