“I never made one of my discoveries through the process of rational thinking.”
– Albert Einstein
Overview
Originally from somewhere else in New England, Jonah Joseph is an odd one. He lives up to a few of the expected tropes of his boorish kin, but often baffles whomever he meets. He's well known for destruction when he eventually loses his temper, but it takes a long time to get there. A few Lost know of his playing at being a god, and there're murmurs of him potentially believing his own bullshit. The only truth known about about Jojo is that his loyalty's hard to gain, and anyone that goes against those close to him wind up losing their mind if not a limb or three.
RP Hooks
- The Whelan Chronicle: Jonah works at the Whelan Chronicle as a paperboy. While papers on his route are always delivered on time there are a few rumors of strange happenings, and, strangest of all, there's never a car nor bike seen in the early hours. Just a strange, grey fog.
- Wanderer: During his off time Jojo likes to explore and drift around town. He's rather fond of natural areas and places lost to time or mother nature, and can usually be found wandering about.
- Spirits: Jonah often interacts with them, and occasionally seeks their council. While their minds are quite obviously alien, he feels a certain kinship to these epehmeral beings wrapped up in their own frailties and codes of ethics. Occasionally, he can be seen talking to himself, although a few of the informed can figure out why.
- Changeling: He doesn't shy away from what he's become, nor does he have much in the way of tolerance for being called Lost. For this Ogre his connection to the Wyrd isn't just magic, but part of his very being.
- The Noemata: Jonah, his brothers, and his eldest sister were taken by him, and it'll always be a sore spot. The Ogre doesn't know what became of his siblings, nor does Jojo speak about whatever became of them in her realm.
- Exemplar of the Tower: Jonah became an Exemplar of the Tower during his stay with the Noemata. He was a representation of sudden, momentary glimpses of truth: a flash of inspiration that breaks down structures of ignorance and false reasoning. This was often portrayed in breaking the minds of other Changelings in whatever way he could, and in turn suffered some of the same tortures from others whenever he tried to escape.
- Harvestman: Unsurprisingly of the Ogre he's one of the Freehold's vanguards. He's well-versed in punching and throwing things, and often takes time out of his day to train fellow Privates, Recruits, and members of the Freehold that want to know the finer points of face-smashing.
- Watcher: He's a people watcher, but not that kind, no. He's a seer for the Freehold, although his portents come with a measure of madness.
- Sun Court: Shame. A wonderful thing for one so far down the rabbit hole as Jonah, and it's rare to ever mark such a thing coming from him. However, he feeds off it, and goes out of his way to embolden the actions of mortals that would lead to their own shame whilst building up his own daytime machinations.
- Lost Pantheon: Most Changelings know of Jonah's false godhood, but mortals by and large interact with him under the sobriquet of Wibguigen.
- Wibguigen: Jojo would never hurt a fly, but more than a few locals know about Wibguigen. Some ancient, mystical force of nature willing to dole out blessings as much as it would pain. Supposedly, this strange figure never dons the same form aside from hair, fur, skin, scales, and feathers always colored grey. Those gifted with his insights often come out madder for whatever boon they attained.
- Fairy Godfather: While handling his deific duties occasionally makes more beneficial bargains with worshipers should they bring him a few specific things. The stories of their greatest shame; the ashes of an oak tree; dried, ground up fish eyes; six legs from a single beetle; a fetish containing at least one tooth each from a coyote, grey wolf, domesticated dog, and red fox.
