Passive Blessing: Glimpse of the Unknowable

Old Ones magnify the strangeness in the world. Any art created while within 10 yards of an Old One is always demented and unsettling. Characters within 10 yards of an Old One (including the Old One) benefit from the following bonuses to Investigation, Occult and Expression rolls based on their Integrity/Clarity:

• 7+ - No Bonus
• 5-6 - +1
• 3-4 - +2
• 1-2 - +3

Active Blessing: Unhinging

Old Ones may spend a Glamour to trigger an existing derangement in a target. If the target has multiple derangements with possible triggers, the target may choose which derangement is triggered. If the target does not currently suffer from a triggerable derangement, this blessing forces a Breaking Point roll at -2 instead.

The target is responsible for confirming whether or not they have an appropriate derangement and responding appropriately. The target does not need to divulge how many derangements they have, which derangements they have or which derangement is triggered.

Example: Anne suffers from the mild derangements Avoidance (Bill), Depersonalization and Depression. When the Charlie, an Old One, uses their Unhinging blessing on Anne, she does not need to tell him that she has three derangements. She sees that 'Depersonalization' doesn't have any triggering event, so that one can't be set off by Unhinging. She chooses to trigger the Avoidance derangement and rolls Resolve + Composure to see how she handles it. If she succeeds, she may seem rattled, as if Bill, the source of her Avoidance, were present, but she keeps it together. If she fails, the reaction is more dramatic, likely causing her to leave the room. She does not need to tell Charlie OOC which derangement his ability triggered, but she is obligated to respond appropriately IC.
