Overview
Taylor Utridge grew up away from the rest of her famous clan, her father having moved to Boston after school, leaving his older sister Eleanor the full run of things after their parents died. For the younger Utridge, the lake was a summer vacation spot rather than a home, a place Taylor spent a few months each year swimming and boating. Between the family name and some small-time modeling, she had a bit of local celebrity in her youth. Apart from a boating accident that killed a friend the year she graduated high school, her life followed a typical and unremarkable trajectory: she married relatively young into (more) money and became the stereotypical trophy wife. The newly-minted Taylor Whittemore became a fixture in the list of local organizations, social clubs, and charities. The only deviation from the normal order of things was that she never had any children.
Or maybe that's not quite the only twist in the otherwise typical tale. A decade or so later, a young woman turned up looking awfully like that glamorous teenager who used to party with the other rich kids on the lake. This version of the young woman was kidnapped the day of that boating accident, taken away somewhere horrible, and changed. And absent proof of her connection to the family that never knew she left them, replaced by an older, more confident version of herself, her life is now a strange mirror of the original: she lives on the bad side of town, working dubious jobs for even more dubious people, trying to keep out of the public eye for fear of recognition and the questions it might raise - or the attention it will bring to her.
RP Hooks
- Native Myth - Her keeper and transformation reflect ancient Wabanaki water spirits. Some of these were frightening serpents who lured men to the water and devoured them, while others were more helpful mermaid-like creatures, and all had power over the water and weather. Her own mien reflects both sides of the legend.
- Glamour - In her pre-Arcadian youth (circa the late 90s), she was a model and local bratty rich kid. People could wonder how she hasn't aged (Fame 1).
- Sleaze - Despite her original life, she's now living a destitute life among scum & villains. Also she goes by a name that makes her sound like a stripper. Is she a stripper?
- Robberies & Disappearances - Relevant to Law enforcement types, she's responsible for several muggings, as well as a single death, although all of these were in the bad part of town and the latter left no body.
