Club Carnivale
|
Club Carnivale has been a part of Fort Brunsett for almost as long as there has been a Fort Brunsett, though it has grown and changed over the years. The most recent proprietor, Joel's uncle, known only to those in town as Mr. White, decided to retire not too long ago and retired to Vegas where it was warm and dry to open a new club. In his departure, he left his current establishment to his nephew, Joel White. Having worked at Club Carnivale for the past several years, Joel is known to locals who frequent the establishment as a fine bartender and maker of unique drinks, the ingredients of which are well-kept secrets. He has a knack for remembering everyone's favorite drink and has a reputation for being a good listener. The club itself has two main features with a quiet bar area in between where one can find a little privacy to sit and talk within a couple of the large private booth areas.
It is a Circus/Carnival-themed dance club and showplace. It hosts burlesque shows, aerial acts, various sideshows and entertainments, all of which generally fit within the theme of the establishment. It is also known as a place where Changelings can go to make connections if needed.
Those who live and work within Club Carnivale are considered family much in the way that Carnival folk tend to form a tight-knit band of traveling family. The same holds true for those who choose to make the Club their home.

The Midway
|
When one first enters Club Carnivale, it is through a large single-story circular domed area where carnival games of all sorts are arrayed around the outer perimeter. The lights and sounds are bright, a cacophony of voices, music, and the sounds from the games intermingling to give the entire area a vibrant lively atmosphere. In the center of the Midway is a dance floor surrounding a functional carousel with brightly painted carousel horses that spin their way around a raised DJ booth above which has a view of the entire floor below it.
Toward the rear of the Midway is a smaller, enclosed, more intimate space where the bar is located. Patrons can stop into the bar area to pick up drinks and head back out to the Midway or ascend a short set of steps to head into The Main Event Lounge where nightly shows are held. Or, one might find a quieter nook within the bar area to sit just outside the hustle and bustle to enjoy a drink and conversation.

The Main Event
|
A theatre in the round surrounded by circular tables for dining and drinks, The Main Event Lounge is the heart of Club Carnivale. Nearly nightly performances of circus and carnival themed burlesque, side shows, freak shows, and circus acts take place in the center of the floor beneath the large domed room. Around the perimeter, tables are set for guests to take in the show as well as refreshments. Raised up, and a little more private, semi-circular booths look down upon the show, allowing for intimate gatherings to enjoy the show without being on the main floor.
Lights around the walls shift the colors and mood of the performance space depending on what might be going on at any given time. Staff assure that the stage area is kept clear and that guests don't move about while a performance is in progress save for at the very outer perimeters of the room.
Food and drink both are served with a distinctly carnival and circus theme to the menu. Alcoholic beverages from the bar are available as well as desserts as colorful and varied as the performers themselves.
|
Back Stage
|
The back stage area is comprised of a large open area for props and performers to gather and move into place for the shows on stage, a series of small dressing rooms and preparation areas, and several storage rooms and closets for both the club and the performance space. The floors are a polished wood that have been worn here and there from the many years of use and to and fro of props and people.
A set of steps leads up one wall to a platform with a door that goes into the loft above, a private apartment for the owner of the building. Another set of steps leads to another long platform that spans the length of the back stage area. Several other rooms are there, occupied by performers and staff who choose to make their residence at the Club.
