A night at the ice cream parlor turns...interesting.

Location

Dare - Ice Cream Shop

C.B. sits in a booth next to Green -- Haruki's on the other side, and maybe Ziv by this point, too? C.B. seems to have gone full-fledged paramilitary today in his camo pants, olive drab t-shirt, and short-sleeved army shirt, plus Korean jungle boots. There's some mud caked to him here and there. He has a cold cup of coffee in front of him, along with a tiny black notebook and stubby pencil, the former of which rude people keep trying to look inside whenever he opens it to write. Something Green just said, though, brings a rather alarmed look to his face. "Is she coming? Oh, uh. Maybe I should go, you know. You guys probably..." Mumble mumble something. He starts ruffling around in his messenger bag as though preparing to make a quick exit, though he hasn't yet stood up.

Green is, indeed, next to CB. Her ice cream was mostly gone before it melted. And melted a long while ago, it did! How long have her and Haruki been here? Hours? Who knows. It's probably well into evening, now. Green is presently tapping a number into her phone - a number Ziv has just given her. "It will be delightfully imperfect," Green promises Ziv. Then she looks aside, to CB, as the man starts to pack up. "Oh, for Christ sake, do be an adult, Mr. Alexander. She hasn't got teeth," she says. Then a pause. "Well. She does. But..." she blinks a few times, and then just waves a hand. "It's fine," she assures.

Oh, and Green is dressed cute. Because of course she's dressed cute. A little black dress, fitting her so perfectly, with a short hemline, and an adorable pilgrim collar. Totally looks nothing like what the Devil would wear.

Haruki's folding and twisting rose from the paper. Well it keeps his fingers busy at least. He looks over at CB when he says he's going. Not his place to say anything though. One rose down, he sorts out the petals to make it look more realistic, and then starts on a second.

"Oh," Ziv's mouth curves in order to give voice to this as she sinks into the booth right next to Haruki. If he's sitting close to the edge, it's possible the bumps the small Asian man with her hip in order to get him to scootch over. She doesn't comment as C.B. seems set to leave, merely giving him a mild and curious look. "But does she bite with those teeth?" the small, spiky-haired woman wonders. "And I've been told imperfection is perfection. Or something like that."

She's dressed a little more plainly than the others, wearing a short and flowy sea green dress over black leggings with cute flats. And she probably has her usual adornment of lots and lots of bangle bracelets.

Speaking of imperfection... Jingle-jingle! Doorway opens, and in steps Franklyn: looking dressed like she's auditioning for the part of someone about officiate a life partner hand binding ceremony in Big Sur. Sage-green, rust and cream coloured floral silky shawl/shrug/cloak =thing= with lots of tassels, and a looooong white cotton maxi dress with a deep V neckline. Jewellery is plentiful, including bangles and friendship bracelets and a bunch of necklaces, including silver chains and a leather cord with a single, long black feather on it. S'all very fluttery, and jingily as she smokes the very end of her cigarette, then tosses it back onto the street.

That's almost smoking inside, Franky! She could get a fine...

Instead, Franklyn adjusts her huge black carry-all bag on the crook of her arm, and strides into the ice cream parlour as if she owns stock in the company that's bought the land. Quick look left, quick look right, then an Eureka! moment: seriously, she looks startled to see Green, C.B., Haruki and then Ziv -- the latter of which get's a very curious glance, as Franky glides over in their direction.

"S'up bitches?" Wrist if flicked - is that a wave? Then Franky presses it to the side of her head as if she's already got a brain freeze. Or a hangover. Bloody ice cream shop lights...

It's supposed to be thundering and lightning this evening and that's exactly what is coming up on the horizon. There's the distant rumble of thunder and the bright flash of lightning that reflects off the window of the ice cream parlor right as the door goes jingle-jingle. There's an employee that's helping a customer that realizes they're out of a flavor and calls that he needs to switch them out. Which proceeds in him banging through the employees only door to disappear.

"Hi Franklyn," Haruki smiles bright and happy to see her. "You look lovely today. We're having icecream."

"I am an adult," C.B. tells Green. Through clenched teeth. "Certainly more of one than you. I -- " A glare is given to Ziv as she chimes in. Who asked her?! "Listen, I -- " Oh, fuck, there goes the neighborhood. He looks up at a start as Hurricane Franky comes through the door next. A big sigh is given as his red-rimmed eyes move over her ridiculous outfit and her less-ridiculous face. He lifts and drops a hand. "Frank. Hi."

"You are just... perfect, for this moment," Green says to Ziv, with a sincerely appreciative smile. She watches the woman a moment, then looks to the door. Yes, yes, there is imperfection, walking right in. "Franklyn, love!" Green calls, as CB flounders. Yes, she'll ignore the man entirely. She kisses the air, towards Frank. "Mr. Alexander was just leaving, you can have his seat," she offers up, with a grin. "Just hope you don't want whatever he's having..." she murmurs, with a stray glance over to the annoyed customer. Then back to Frank. "Oh, Franklyn, this is Ziv. Ziv, Franklyn."

Ziv either ignores the glare from C.B., or doesn't seem to notice it. The bell causes her to flinch, as does the rumble of thunder and banging of the door, but it doesn't hold her attention long. The ice cream placed on the table in front of her, she leans forwards and puts her chin in her hand as she looks at Franklyn in something approaching adoration. Whether it's for the woman or the outfit, it's hard to tell, but she's certainly admiring the myriad of adornments and the wrapped shawl. And then the greeting is given, and she blinks once with a little frown and a commentary of, "I'm not a dog..."

"Oh am I?" Ziv looks rather flattered at Green's words, smiling more than a little as color creeps back into her. Then she shakes her head, and raises her chin from her hand to wave to Franklyn. "Hullo!"

"Hello, hello, hello," Franklyn drawls musically - did that thunder and lightning herald her in? By the time Franky's reaches the booth, the flashes everyone a smile - everyone! - then mmms as she pauses, standing by the side. Potentially blocking the exit of anyone who wants to, say, leave that booth. Her brow creases a bit as she looks from Green to C.B., hesitates, then addresses everyone: another flash of smile cutting across her expression. "Fuck that! Babes, it's just about to /piss it down/ with rain out there."

A glance to C.B., eyebrows lifted, "Stay until the storm passes?" Then she turns and looks over to Haruki and Ziv after Green introduces her - nodding twice, flicking a strand of hair from her eyes as she peeeers at the delicate, tiny woman. "...Charmed. Ziv. Is that Israeli? What do you do? Why are you here?"

Huh. Oddly sharp - but Franklyn does seem... A little pained. Or, again, hungover or possibly nervous or /something/: a hand flutters around, tapping herself on the collarbones before pressing against her temples again.

C.B. was already standing, even, and then scowling when Green seems all too happy to usher him right out the door. Except that a wild Franky is blocking him now. "I don't mind the rain," he says stubbornly, but then sits down again with a huge sigh. And even tries to move over so that Frank can sit there, too. Uh oh. That would make him situated between Frank and Green. Abort, abort...

The lady with the 'Can I See Your Manager!' haircut looks to the table full of people and then looks back to the counter, there's no one in line behind her, but she seems annoyed as fuck.

When that man comes out the door again carrying that big container of ice cream, the customer starts yelling that it took too long. That she's changed her mind. He was gone for less than three minutes. The look on his face speaks volumes, like they don't pay him enough to deal with this soccer moms bullshit. But in an act of sheer will he offers, "We can get you whatever you like, Ma'am."

When that man comes back, there's something that shadows him. You can see glimpses of black fur with a line of bone white fur down the middle. There's red beady eyes as well, but they disappear quickly as whatever it is goes about sniffing around the back counter.

Haruki frowns as there's now yelling, and he peers over that way and he really, really doesn't like this. He stands up and goes over to the woman, and he asks her, concerned. "Are you okay?"

Ever so obnoxious, Green stretches up, and leans over, and reaches... All to attempt to reach a hand behind CB and towards Franklyn, to grab the other woman's hand. To make contact. To do... something. And in the meanwhile it means her front is mostly pressed to CB's side, and her face draws far closer to his. Green makes a grabby hand motion towards Frank, as she looks over to Ziv. "You are. I'll explain later," she says, with a sweet smile. "But... perfect," she says. She, too, looks back to Frank. Concerned, maybe, a bit, just as Haruki does. But the shouting customer steals her attention.

And then she blinks. An awkward face, just for a moment. And then eyes are back on Franklyn. "Franklyn, love. Anything on the board ... appeal to you?" she asks, and nods over that way, towards the counter. It's a... bizarrely pointed look. Almost a command?

"Hm? Oh. My parents are... fanciful and everything. It's probably Israeli or something like it," Ziv says after a blink at Franklyn's question about her name. She tucks her feet together underneath of her seat at the booth, and reaches for a spoonful of her slowly melting ice cream. "I'm just wanting to get away, you know? Throw a dart at a map, head off to places unknown... The adventurous sort of lifestyle."

A hint of merriment comes to her eyes at C.B.'s predicament. But then the angry woman at the counter is beginning to yell, and she sinks down further into the booth and pulls her ice cream with her, posture flattening out. Without much tact of her own - and a little loud as if she can't gauge her own volume - she says, "She's very rude."

"Ohmygaaawd." Franklyn is, indeed, moving to sit down -- right next to C.B., sandwiching the poor chap between herself and Green. Does she seem worried about giving the Author zero room to manoeuvre? No. Franklyn is preoccupied, looking up and over to watch the exchange between Frustrated Soccer Mom and Hard-done-by Ice Cream Worker. Her eyes go wide, even as her hand snakes up to take Green's -- chattering on to those gathered, "...If you ever see me acting like that? With that haircut? Please slit my throat."

FRANKY. Use your quiet voice!

But no, quiet voice is not used: Franklyn is laughing as she looks back at the table, or rather, Ziv. "Oh? Yeah?... So like random chance? Adventurous /how/?" Grilling is shortlived, though - because Franky is turning at Green's direct order-- helpful suggestion, looking up past where Haruki is and over to the counter and... Franklyn blinks, wrinkles her nose, and opens her mouth a tad. "...Iiii... Don't... Know?... Should it?"

C.B. definitely looks like he's regretting his decision of staying in this seat, although he, too, is distracted by the soccer mom. He squints, frowning at the little scene over there -- and even moreso when Haruki actually intervenes. "Oh jesus," he mutters to himself, sighing and rubbing his temples. He wets his lips, giving Franklyn a long and rather enigmatic look...and then he's trying to scoot her right out again. "Excuse me, Franky. I think Haruki is going to need some backup, as he is not, shall we say, equipped for combat." From the onslaught of a soccer mom? Yay, verily. But hey, C.B. actually looks dressed for combat right now! Even better!

"You don't need to ma'am me in that sarcastic tone." the woman snaps at the worker who was being pretty sincere. Someone was just having a bad night apparently. There's a look to Haruki when he approaches and she squints, "What do you mean am I alright?" she asks him. Yep. She's gotta be a beeeotch. She looks back to the counter to say something but she's cut off by an explosion of five of the ice cream lids and there's a spray of melted ice cream that slams the lady right in the face.

Behind the counter they can see that there is a very large spirit. One that looks like a pissed off honey badger. He's taking note of the conversation between the two people. He raises up on his front legs to brace against the ice cream counter. When the lady snaps, his eyes blaze and there's a growl as his muzzle twitches and he sets off a powerful blast. They can hear his echoing snicker as he trundles away from the mess for the moment.

Haruki's armed only with a smile. Combat? Yeah who expects to be attacked by a soccer mom. He's not scared at all, no. He's about to reply when EXPLOSION! He dives to the ground automatically, rolling for cover from the deadly dairy detonation. Not something you want to be in the middle of when you're lactose intolerant!

Ice cream... explodes?! Green's eyes go big as saucers, and then her grip on Franklyn's hand goes tighter. "Blimey!" she exclaims. "Go, Ceebee!" she urges the man. But she doesn't let go for Franklyn. She's rather surely processing some thought, as she watches ever so intently. With any luck, CB will get up, and Franklyn will stay right there, within Green's grasp.

"Mostly along the lines of trying something new and unexpected," Ziv answers, a little more quietly than Franklyn's being - and possibly that most of the other people in the room are being. She appears to be attempting to disappear beneath the table with her slow sinking... and then the ice cream suddenly attacks the soccer mom via sudden detonation. Rather than concern as the others show, she bites back a sudden SNRK of laughter regarding Haruki's dive for cover and the woman's faceful of ooey gooey former goodness.

Franklyn ohs! at C.B's words -- letting go of Green's hand, so she can scootch out of the booth herself, and give the camo claud writer some room. See?! She's so polite! Look at her! She's only now just totally standing there by the booth, /gawking/ at the poor Ice Cream Worker -- ignoring poor shrinking Ziv, while shifting her bag on her arm and... It looks like Franky's struggling with either a huge moral dilemma, or a headache.

Then, all of a sudden, as the Soccer Mom speaks to Haruki? Franklyn looks... A little scared, a hand reaching out: "No! C.B, wait a secon--"

TOO LATE. Ice dream explosion! Franklyn pulls a face and steps back, alarmed as she turns and -stares- at Green, other hand reaching for her -- like the little Brit would somehow have all the answers. Or directions. Or orders...

The woman is just shocked so badly that she can't speak. There's a working of her jaw, the one women do when they are really pissed off. She looks at the man behind the counter and points a finger at him, "YOU DID THAT!" she shrieks at him and starts tossing things at him. Bottles of chocolate sauce go flying, creating more of a mess as the anger starts to rise. The man behind the counter simply puts up his hands and starts to back away, eventually disappearing through the 'EMPLOYEES ONLY' door.

And in a another few seconds there's another ice cream container exploding, flying everywhere. No one is safe!

And after that last explosion there's the mass of black, white and red that's running back towards the employees door. Laughing creepily as he goes.

"What the -- " C.B.'s eyes widen as the ice cream explodes and then the soccer mom starts going crazy! He actually moves in to intervene -- trying to get the lady's arms if he can. "Hey, lady, knock it off! Can't you see you're just making it /worse/?" Whatever it may be. Incidentally, /he/ is probably making this worse as well...

When C.B. grabs the ladies arm, she hisses at him and swings on him, but she misses horribly, sending herself to the ground as she slips on some of the ice cream. Oh dear.

Haruki's digging out his phone to call the police because really that's what he does best. But what's he going to tell them? And does he really want yet another round of police interviews. They're going to start to think he's causing all of this trouble. He hesitates, uncertain of what to do.

Etsy comes in through the front door, silver bells jingling merrily overhead.

"Ceebee! Do not raise your voice," Green says, her own tone firm but entirely calm and level. "Please. It's important," she says, in that tone of her that's unmistakenly... Well. Important.

Green then gives a tug on Franklyn's arm, and pulls her into the booth beside her. Soon as the woman is down, Green turns to her purse, and quickly grabs a small notebook and pen from it. "Furorem," she whispers out, quiet enough that surely on Franklyn and Ziv can hear her. "Fury. Pissing around," she says, as if that makes sense. Green quickly starts scribbling down onto the notebook, words that Franklyn will be able to read. "Just need to calm the barmy bird down and it'll sod off," she says. Green continues to write, and what Franklyn will see laid out in front of her is a string of latin words. "Just start repeating them," she whispers.

Madness! Yelling! Chaos! Extreme tastiness! This is what Etsy might find upon entering into the ice cream parlor. C.B. is trying to calm down an angry soccer mom, who has just slipped on a veritable puddle of ice cream that has spread all over the floor following its explosive exit from the ice cream containers to cover the woman with the "Can I Speak to Your Manager" haircut. Haruki is standing off to the side, unsure what to do, and Green and Franklyn are trying their own tricks of the trade.

Ziv, on the other hand, sinks down until she disappears underneath of the booth seat, crossing her legs underneath of her. She does seem to catch at least some of what Green says to Franklyn, before covering her ears with both hands. The ice cream ends up dropped on the floor, adding to the mess, before she closes her eyes - starting to sing to herself, but probably loud enough that others can catch a bit of it underneath of the ruckus. She has an oddly high, haunting voice with a very slight echoing quality to it.

Fact: ice cream is made of milk. Fact: ice cream can be eaten by carnivores just like mead can be drunk by them. Fact: Etsy has extra money. These three facts have brought her in her incessant wandering to an ice cream shop. She drifts in through the front door with what looks like a blue-grey stole around her shoulders, her tatty slippers barely seeming to touch the ground, humming a little tune to herself... and stops just inside the door. Her already anime-girl-like eyes get even bigger, and she sidles over to the side. If only she had popcorn for ... whatever this is.

"Ah, fuck -- lady!" C.B. exclaims, but he's not being particularly loud. And anyone who knows him knows he can be LOUD. "Calm down, okay? Here." He tries to help her up -- whether or not she accepts, and whether or not he also goes down in a puddle of dairy, is anyone's business. He scowls over his shoulder at Green and then ends up giving her the finger because, why not? But as mentioned, he didn't really do the opposite of what she asked. His blue eyes scan back and forth between Green and Franky, but most of his attention is on the troublemaking soccer mom.

Franklyn looks momentarily flustered as Green pulls her back into the booth -- flumping down there in a puff of gauzy skirt and tasseled cloak/shawl/Stevie Nicks style layers. A hand grabs uselessly at the air as Franky stares out anxiously at C.B. as he attempts to, alas, negotiate -- but she does not stay flustered for long.

Direct orders have been given. Franky is turning, trying to focus up on Green -- nodding, leaning in, trying to follow and read what the words on the paper: then a low, careful, phonetic whispering starts to happen. "Quis custodiet magna custodes Occidentem et mare Oceanum..." Mumble, mumble, whisper...

Is Franky speaking fucking /Latin/? Who cares! Only those close by would hear, right? And there's so much going on at the moment...

Now, if there were folk here who liked desperation and anxiety, they'd definitely be picking up what Franky is laying down. Waves of it, just emanating from the expressive Mortal lass. But the girl's got moxie: whispering, muttering, repeating herself in the booth as she ignores... Everything else.

Haruki looks over at Franklyn and Green from where he's hiding, beneath a table, and then to the lady and CB, where he tries to gauge the danger of the situation. Okay, flying icecream is not likely to kill him. Is it? He stands up and tries to be all science-y. "It must be a combination of the heat and the air pressure," he says. "With this thunder storm and the weather, the icecream tubs going rapidly from a very cold low pressure environment out into the main store has caused the contents to expand exponentially and thus is causing the explosions. I'd suggest moving away from the case," he says to the lady. "It's no wonder you're upset. This is terrible," he keeps his voice soft and reassuring, "I understand, all you wanted was a nice cold icecream on a hot day, after being so busy. You deserve the sole treat of an icecream, and it's all gone horribly wrong. But throwing things isn't going to make things better. It'll be okay though."

Anxiety is a flavor of Wanting, sometimes, and any meal is a good meal, let's be honest, if you're hungry. Etsy drifts sort of absently toward CB, staying mostly out of the mess, just sort of... angling around it all, but she raises her eyebrows and clears her throat a bit, just kind of watching. The absent humming overlaps Franklyn's Latin muttering, and takes up the same cadence with it, without the siren even noticing. Some things are instinct.

Haruki's not wrong about the air pressure. Because there seems to be pressure building up in this room. An odd kind of thing that feels, well, a bit wrong. But then, ice cream was just exploding, so, let's take a measure of wrongness. Probably not so bad.

Also, it's, totes, not like Franklyn could be behind that weird feeling, could it? Surely not! Green finishes what she's writing, and then then she, too, is whispering in sync with Franklyn. The words are inaudible, save maybe for Ziv, under the table. But then, Ziv is under the table, singing, just the same! So, it's probably fine.

And then, just like that, Green concludes the last word, and the pressure is... gone. Well, that... odd pressure, that sense of wrongness. "That's it," Green says, a bit louder, to Franklyn.

That lady that was just fuming mad moments ago? The one that's lying in a puddle of slowly melting ice cream? She laughs as she gets a look at herself in the window and she rolls around for a moment as she claps her hands, "Oh this is fun!" she giggles.

What in tarnation...

Ziv has, indeed, been continuing to hide under the table and sing the entire time. Eventually though that dies off, her hands still over her ears. One eye perks open, and she darts it towards where the soccer mom is rolling around in the ice cream. It's likely not visible to anyone considering the various positions, but she looks... confused.

C.B. raises his eyebrows at the lady in the puddle. "Ooookay. Well. Someone crazier than me." He stands up, wiping his hands off on his camo pants. "Faaaaaantastic." Apparently, his desire to be helpful is done. Haruki probably killed some of it with his little speech, no doubt, and C.B. is also drawn by Franky's desperation to stare over at the witches in the booth...I mean bitches. Ziv singing under the table, and...when did Etsy get here? He gives Etsy a smushed little smile before heading, very tenuously, back over to the booth. He actually left his notebook on the table, for starters. First order of business.

Haruki shoots a look over at Green and Franklyn. Then to the woman, who's now... Yeah this is getting a bit much for him. At least it's all better now though. Well apart from the poor worker who's going to have to clean everything up. He looks at CB, shoulders slumping a bit at the disapproval. He sighs. He's at a loss for what to actually do.

This is a question often asked: when did Etsy get here? Sometimes by Maddoxes when they wake up with dead fish on their heads and a mermaid sitting on the kitchen table in the trailer giggling with glee. But that's another story. "Can be a helping?" she asks of Haruki, somewhat awkwardly for a Flowering. When your toes are actually delicate little fins, you develop an aversion to stepping on the toes of others, lest they return the favor.
