Participants

Ian, Andromeda, Isolde, Iris, Sophia

6 April, 2017

The Greenies meet and discuss important business.

Location

Greengarden

Where do Greenies meet? Why, a greenhouse of course. Where /else/ would they meet? Sophia got there early, or maybe she was just enjoying working in the dirt. It is what she does, and what she's known for. She's still playing a little when people arrive, even.

There are some folding chairs that have been brought in, and there's water, tea and sodas for those who like to drink while talking about Greenies business, and even a few snacks. All finger foods, but tasty all the same.

Being in a greenhouse is like being in a home away from home for Ian, and the setting is a familiar and comfortable one. He drifts in and makes his way toward the beverages, choosing from the selection some water before he moves over to see what Sophia is working on out of curiosity while others gather. Golden-eyed and curious, the tall Fairest brings with him the scent of a new spring rain, and those little tendrils that always seem to be creeping out and away from him, before vanishing once more in their perpetual cycle of rebirth. "Evening," he says quietly, studying both Sophia and that which she tends.

Isolde arrives in her scrubs from the hospital. A pair of light pink pants and a brightly patterned scrub top that has flowers all over it. Yes, she had to leave work and rush to make the meeting. The Doctor comes in and gives a smile to those already there, "Good evening lovelies." she states as she gives little finger wiggle wave. Then she finds herself a bit of a snack, she was famished.

There arrives more food, carried in by a glimmering sort of Airtouched. There's an ever-present sort of breeze around Iris, but it seems to do the most work in leading colors to slip and slide across her opalescent skin. She's wearing a long, green skirt, and a paler green blouse, weathered boots showing beneath the edges of the skirt. A white bandana holds her hair back, save for a few whisps and strands. She sets the containers down, revealing a few types of cookie and cupcake as they're opened and left to the masses. She doesn't quite delve into the chatter, but offers smiles for folks as she goes to get herself some tea.

"How was it today? I have the night shift..." The pale starry Spring asks Isolde, following not long after. Andromeda arrives in black jeans and a simple gray t-shirt, long fingers folded together behind her back. "I work the night shift," she adds with a smile of explanation, dipping her head briefly toward the doctor. "Hi everyone," she beams pleasantly, looking toward a chair until she sees Iris' cupcakes. "Ooooh... those look amazing!" she almost whispers, very carefully reaching to pluck one up.

Sophia is happily working with some seedlings, but when Ian speaks she straightens, brushing the loose dirt off her hands and smiling as she turns. "Evening," she tells him, before giving a nod to Isolde, then iris. "How's everyone doing?" she asks, leaning a hip against a table and crossing her arms over her chest. She's not worried about getting a little dirty, and there are already smears of dirt showing that she's been at this for a little while. "And just grab something, make yourselves comfy. No reason to be formal or anything."

Formal is a thing that Ian very rarely is unless circumstance demands it, and so he seems entirely content to snag himself one of those cupcakes with a smile of thanks to Iris, and slides into one of the folding chairs comfortably, one arm draping over the back of it as he smiles a pleasant greeting to the others. The cupcake is eaten bottom-up, a feat that he manages through what must have been years of practice, correspondence courses, and pure natural talent.. all without dropping the icing on the floor.

"It's been a pretty long day and I have to head back when we're done here. Managed to get a break between the doubles." Isolde tells Andromeda as she looks to her with a smile. "So we'll probably be hands deep into something later tonight." she tells her fellow Spring. She then gives a smile to everyone else, "I'm doing alright, how are you all doing?" the woman asks as she settles down into a seat.

There's a certain measure of pride n seeing people eat your food. Iris beams at Ian as she takes a seat of her own. The woman hasn't grabbed any food, but she does have her tea as she claims a chair. "I'm really quite fond of avoiding the formalities," she admits, crossing her legs at the ankle. "So, I already help the Harvestmen by providing them with fruits, but I think it might be better for the Freehold gardens? That way it's not so reliant on my availability."

"Well, busy nights do go by quickly..." Andromeda laughs softly, nodding to Isolde. Cupcake in hand, she gives Ian a familiar wave and gravitates toward a chair nearby to settle onto. As Iris speaks, she nods, but she's got a mountful of frosting. It's probably for the best that she doesn't speak at the moment.

"I'm good," Sophia tells Isolde with a smile. "And I agree on the gardens. That's what they're there for. It's just for us to tend to them, and watch what's taken. If someone's taking every single Amaranthine from there, we should know, and it had better be for a damn good reason. But the gardens are in poor shape. I've started working on getting them tended to, but I'd love some help there."

"Well," Ian says when asked how he is doing. "Everything is turning as it should, from one season to the next. I suspect that there will be new shoots soon, once the weather decides to finally give over to warming a little." He says, "I'll help with the gardens. Now that the greenhouses are settled at home, I have an abundance of time to dedicate to the Freehold gardens if you'd like more assistance." There's a tip of his head to Andromeda and a small cupcake-laden wave as well.

"That they do, Andromeda." the Doctor states with a nod of agreement with her fellow medic. Isolde's Mantle is strong and where she steps there's little pink flowers that sprout up and greenry that branches out. She takes a bite of her cupcake as she listens to the others, wiping a bit of icing from her bottom lip once she's done. "If anyone needs assistance with healing, mundane or magical I am happy to assist in working on a schedule or training anyone that needs it." the Bright One states with a warm smile.

"I've stopped in by the Freehold garden a couple of times myself," Iris agrees, nodding to Sophia. "Maybe we should plan a workday. We'd get a lot done working together." The Elemental's own mantle, Dawn, is strong... but noticeable largely in how it enhances the mantles of anyone near her. Though, close to her, there is that bit of ozone and the sense of calm before a storm. "Oh, that's good!" This, to Isolde. "I can do bits of healing, of a magical nature, but mostly I rely on fruits. Good to know we have others around."

Sophia grins at Iris. "Honestly, I'm there every day as it is, but more help is always good. The better tended the garden is, the better it is for the freehold. So you're both more than welcome to come work on it anytime you like. I will ask though, that if you have your own gardens, to take from them before you take from the freehold garden unless it's something like you said, Iris, and giving fruit to the Harvestmen. But if it's for your own personal use, you know? Just so we can make sure there's always fruit for the freehold's needs."

"I can assist with healing, both mundane and magical, but I'm always interested in learning more," Ian says as he looks over toward Isolde. "My mundane healing tends to revolve around homeopathic remedies and the like. A bit more clinical approach would be worthwhile learning." He doesn't like to discount any method of healing that might be available, after all. He glances back over toward Sophia then and says, "Any work that I do for the Freehold is for the freehold. I have my own sources to tend to for my own needs."

"Me too - healing, that is. Got a lot to learn about gardening," Andromeda explains. "Physic..." she holds out her hands, and the title probably explains her semi-transparency. Cupcake finished, she dusts off her palms and glances around with a pleasant smile. "I was planning on holding a practice clinic for anyone looking for first aid training. I thought it might be fun to give our more theatrical comrades something to do by acting out various injuries to be diagnosed. We'll see how it goes!"

"I think Andromeda or I either one could teach you the more clinical side should you want to learn it, Ian." Isolde offers with a smile. Then there's a look to Andromeda and she grins, "That actually sounds like a fantastic idea. Please let me know if you'd like help with that." she tells her.

Sophia nods to Ian and smiles. "Fair enough. And that's all I'm asking. To use your own sources when it's for your own use. But it's good you guys brought up healing. We have a new Greenie, as of last name. His name is Oberon. He wants to learn gardening and healing both. I, and most of us, can help teach him the gardening side, but we're not all true healers. Would any of you care to become his mentor? And anyone who wants to learn more about gardening, I'm happy to help," she says, smiling at Andromeda.

"I think most of us can keep to our own gardens," Iris says wth a bit of a smile, lifting her tea for a drink. "I would be happy to help teach gardening, but healing not so much. My tricks there are with contracts and fruit." She plucks at a bit of fluff on her skirt. "It might be good to have gardening workshops, though, alongside-" a glance to Andromeda. "First aid sounds like a great one."

"Absolutely," Andromeda clasps her hands together, and gives Isolde an enthusiastic nod. "I'm hoping it will be both helpful -and- fun. I find the latter improves the former," she gives a dimpled smile. "Oh, Oberon? He's so very lovely. I'd be happy to volunteer, but I'm sure I'm not the only one," she laughs softly, crumpling the empty cupcake wrapper in her fingers. "I'd very much like to come to a workshop," she tells Iris with a dip of her head. "And thank you, Sophia, I'd definitely appreciate that!"

"I've met him," Ian says when Sophia mentions Oberon. "He and his boyfriend are supposed to come out and visit my gardens at some point. I'd be happy to offer what aid that he might need as well." He then says, "If there are workshops, then I would be interested in attending, as well a sharing." He is famous, as a botanist, and a grower of hybridized plants of all manner.

Sophia smiles and nods. "Wonderful. As for the workshops...if we have more than one person willing for a certain type of workshop, why don't we rotate? None of us, however experienced, know everything there is to know. It could be an interesting sharing of knowledge. And some of the rest of the freehold might find it interesting, too. More people who can heal or recognize useful fruit is a good thing."

"We could do a few little symposiums, some on healing and some on gardening possibly. Maybe expand it out to the rest of the Freehold members that want to learn a bit?" Isolde offers with a look to the others. "Could be the basics and leave the heavy duty stuff to us." she nods to this. "There's always room to learn, I think all of us are eternal students to a degree." she states with a smile. It wasn't a bad thing!

"I may well see about a workshop on recognizing fruits within the hedge. It wouldn't hurt to have eyes on the lookout for the more rare kinds." Iris looks to her tea and, oh, it's gone! "It's a new Freehold. There's still plenty to learn."

"Ooh, that would be nice," Andi clasps her hands together, and rests them upon a knee. "I like that very much," she bobs her head in agreement to Sophia, then Isolde. "That could be a lot of fun, going out to take a peek," she grins at Iris.

Sophia smiles and nods. "That sounds perfect, yes," she says before looking over to Ian. "And that sounds perfect, too. If you prefer, someone else can mentor him on the healing side of things, but that's really up to you and him and what you're comfortable with."

Ian inclines his head in agreement with the others on the topic of studying, "There is always more to learn. That's part of what keeps it all interesting." He then finishes off the remainder of his cupcake, licking the frosting from his dark green tipped fingers, a sign of the Garden in him. Then he nods to Sophia and says, "I'm certain that between us we can provide help in various areas that he might be interested in."

"This will be so much fun." Isolde brightens a little more. She doesn't go full dayglo though. Not wanting to hurt their eyes. "And if Oberon would like assistance with healing and you need a hand, please let us know, Ian." she tells the man.

"I don't see a reason for a schedule," Iris muses aloud as she gets to her feet to go get more tea. "But if we're all willing to teach or to help those that want to learn, I say we just... do it and keep everyone else appraised, so there's no double-booking or stepping on toes."

Sophia smiles and nods to Ian. "I have no doubt," she tells him before nodding to Iris. "I agree. There's enough to do that it shouldn't be a problem. And it's a good thing we've got so many willing to help and to teach. It may be a young freehold, but it's shaping up to be a good one."

Ian nods his head to Isolde and says, "I would gladly defer to you on the topic of healing as I think that your expertise likely outweighs mine. Please, do assist him in that arena. I intend to show him the gardens and give him more of an exposure to things botanical, herbal, animal, and vegetable."

Isolde gives a bit of a nod and a smile, "Excellent, we'll see about getting in touch and things." she tells Ian. Then there's a smile to Iris, "I'll keep everyone in the loop about things I'm doing as well." she tells them.

Sophia smiles and glances around. "Well, if no one has anything else pressing, I think we're good for tonight. Though keep an eye out for a place where we might make our own garden. For the Greenies, I mean, not the freehold. Someplace for us to...explore and experiment."

"I may be going out to find some fruits soon, with one of the Harvestmen," Iris offers, as she hovers by the tea. Just topping off before she heads out, it'd seem. "I can look for a good place for a garden, too." But she seems to be preparing to depart. There's a wave for the cupcakes and cookies. "Have at. I can come by some other time for the containers."

Isolde rises and there's a smile, "It was lovely to get together with everyone and I sadly must be going for now. ER calls." she tells them. "I'm going to take a couple of these yummy cupcakes to get us through the night though." she smiles brightly at Iris, "Thank you for making them." she adds. Then she gathers two cupcakes and saunters out whistling a cheerful tune.
