Oberon, Ian, Haruki, Itsuki

9 April, 2017

Haruki, Dave and Itsuki all visit Ian's greenhouse.

Location

Brennan Gardens - Grounds/Greenhouse

Haruki arrives in his car, stepping out and looking around for someone. He's wrapped up warm for the winter.

It's still a little chilly out and thus the commune seems fairly quiet on the outide. There's some people coming and going here and there, mostly from the main building to the green houses and back to their own residences. When Haruki arrives, there are a few people who keep there eye on him, a girl in her late teens finally approaching him and asking, "Are you looking for someone?"

Haruki smiles and nods at the girl. "Ian. He invited me to visit." He gazes around curiously. "If he's not busy that is."

There's a bright smile from the girl then and she makes a wait-right-here motion before she makes her way up to the main house, the large white farmhouse and knocks on the front door. Ian can be seen opening and a few words are exchanged. When he sees Haruki, a smile spreads across his lips and he waves, grabbing his jacket and pulling it on before he comes down the steps. He gives the girl a little wave as she continues on her way and then comes up to Haruki. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Cold," Haruki admits with a bright smile. "Dave said he might be along later." He checks his phone to see if there's any updates and then sticks it back in his pocket. "It's so good to see you. How're you doing?" He looks around. "So this is it? Wow."

"It's good to see you as well," Ian says as he turns and then looks out over the compound. It is large, but then it is home to many people, not just Ian. He smiles and says, "I'll give you the quick tour then we can duck into one of the greenhouses where it's warm." He nods toward the largest of the buildings and says "That's our main meeting house where the offices and kitchen and dining hall are." He then nods toward the big white house and says, "That's my family home. That's where I live." Then there are scattered smaller homes and cabin and things on the property "Others have their own homes, or small group homes." There are the fields, endless stretches of them, and then the greenhouses, several large structures. He begins to head in the direction of the closest ones, "The greenhouses are so we can grow year around."

"Thanks," Haruki says. "Mmm it'll be nice to be warm. I hadn't expected it to be so cold here. Silly that, isn't it? I think it was Autumn when I was last here, it was so beautiful then. Not that this cold isn't beautiful too." He looks around curiously as he's given the tour. "That's a big home," he says of the house. "Is it just you and your," his gaze flicks to Ian's hands for a moment, "girlfriend? there?"

"It's cold here for a while but it will warm up in the summer months," Ian promises with a little smile as he makes his way into the greenhouse area where there are some people working in the various beds, watering some of the plants, repotting some of them into larger containers. He nods when Haruki makes the observation about the house. "There used to be more there. I let Rorschach stay there with me sometimes, and Cardinal of course visits when she feels inclined." Ian's hands, like most of his skin are tinted a faint green, though his fingertips go from an almost black green at the tips to a gradiant all the way up to his second knuckle, evidence of his entitlement.

Haruki gazes around curiously, careful not to touch anything, or step anywhere he shouldn't. He does check his phone again, but there's still no message it would seem. "That's kind of you. You're a good man. So is this where the food's grown?"

Ian nods his head and says, "This is one of the greenhouses. In this one we grow vegetables of various types." His smile fades a little, dimming and he shakes his head to Haruki. "I'm not," he says but then he leaves it at that. The two stand in one of the large greenhouses on the Brennan Gardens commune. When Oberon arrives, he would be directed back to the greenhouse by one of the reisdents.

Haruki stops and looks Ian up and down, as if he could get some measure of the man by doing so. "Why do you say that? I've only seen goodness from you. Everyone seems happy here. You help others. Isn't that good?"

Upon getting inside the Greehouse, Dave grins and waves."Hello, hello, hello." He says in a very good mood."I heard you guys were in here and came to check if there is place to a third one in this little party." He says. Joking. Or not. This time, Oberon's hair is set in a single braid and is dyed bright red. Upon reaching the other two man, he hugs Haruki with a single arm and, to Ian, he smiles and offers a hand to a shake."I still owe you one for that day back in Dare."

Ian looks over to Haruki and then says, "Yes," in agreement, and while that seems entirely incongruous to what he'd just said, both things seem to, at least in Ian's mind, be simultaneously true. There's no air of deception about him. When he hears Oberon's voice he turns to regard the man with those alien gold eyes and he gives him a smile of welcome. "Always. Haruki and I were just getting in out of the chill and having a look at the greenhouse." He reaches out to take the hand that is offered and gives it a firm, friendly shake. "You owe me nothing," Ian says, absolving Oberon of any perceived debt.

Haruki gets hugged. He doesn't really respond to that hug though. He does smile at Dave though. "You're late." He nods. "It's lovely and warm in here."

"I missed anything so far, then." He says smiling as he turns around to take a better look of the greenhouse."Woah. It's a pretty awesome place. The guy that guided me here told you guys here do all organic. We should talk about business later. The Wayhouse residents would love to have some healthier food."

"Just the initial tour of the buildings outside, which I can give you when we head back out. The greenhouses, as I was telling Haruki, are here so that we can continue to grow various crops throughout the year even in the cold season. We also have a greenhouse where we do aquaponics, where we combine raising fish with growing plants that feed off the nutrients in the water, thus creating a symbiotic environment," Ian smiles a little bit. It's a strange-ish combination of low tech and hi tech growing going on. "Everything we do here is organic. We don't use any non-naturally-occuring chemicals and no hormones. Some of my more experimental work with hybridization could be considered non-organic, but everything we grow for general consumption is."

Haruki frowns a little as the Wayhouse is mentioned. He smiles. "I'd like to see that aquaponics. Is it warm there too? What's hybridization do?"

"Pretty awesome. I wonder if there is room to a newbie here." Oberon murmurs and grins looking really awed. When Haruki talks, he puts his hands into his pockets and waits on Ian to give the explanations.

"We always have room for those who want to learn and want to work," Ian says to Oberon with a dip of his head. "We give those who support the Garden a chance to work, a part of the profits, and what food that they need in return for their work." He gestures toward the plant species in this green house and says, "These are all naturally occurring species, many of them grown from original seedlings and then perpetuated through the decades. Some of the work that I do as a botanist is blending different species togethet through cross pollenation and other means to create combined species." He then motions for them to follow him. "The aquaponics are in another greenhouse." He holds open the door so they can both step back outside.

Haruki's rather clueless when it comes to gardening, but he listens with interest, smiling and nodding at what Ian says. "So, could you make a fruit that tastes like a strawberry and a raspberry together? Or a carrot and a radish together, would that be a cadish, or a radrot? Combining different species sounds like magic." He follows happily, shivering a bit as he steps out into the cold.

Oberon follows the pair of man nodding to Ian's explanation. Then, he smiles brightly at Haruki's comment."I don't think this is how it works, Haruki." He says careeing the asian's back.

Once they are outside, Ian gives the brief tour to Oberon as well. He gestures toward the largest building on the compound and says, "That is our meeting hall, where the dining hall and kitchens are, laundry, offices, and other communal spaces." He then gestures to the large white farmhouse and says, "That's my family's home.. where I live now, mostly by myself, but Rorschach and Cardinal come here sometimes." He then gestures to the smaller residences dotting the area surrounding the central grounds, "Most people either use one of the small cabins, have group homes, or their own houses here, depending on what they want to build and occupy." There are several large greenhouses which he explains "We keep the large greenhouses going year round." And then there are the fields that stretch away into the heart of the rich farmland of the area. "And the fields.. which we'll begin to work once the weather warms up." He then begins to lead them toward a different greenhouse than the one they had been in.

Haruki smiles at Oberon. "This would be a nice place for you," he says softly. "It feels warm here. You'd get to do the things you like, and be around people too." He elbows Oberon, playfully. "Killing my dreams. Raspberry without the seeds. Blueberries as big as apples you can cut into slices. Tiny little bite sized pears."

Oberon continues following and nodding to each part of the Brennan Garden he is pointed to."It is a really impressive place you have here, Ian. Congratulations." He says as he offfers a smile to the other Fairest."You can count on me to help around with the greenhouses. I need some advanced glasses anyways and I heard you can give me some. As Haruki said, this place is for me." He then grins again.

"My parents and my grandparents before them built it," Ian says, giving credit where credit is due. "I just keep going what they started at this point." He smiles over at Haruki and says "I'll see what I can do," though he makes no promises of giant sliceable blueberries. He then nods to Oberon and says, "Then come when you're ready, and I will be happy to determine what you already know and what you might need and like to learn. We can go from there." He continues across the yard and then walks them both into a second greenhouse. This one is about the same size, but there are large ponds that take up the four quadrants with walkways down the center that allow access to all four. In them, a forest of flora can be seen growing on top, ferns and leaves with roots that dangle into the water. Windows in the side of the tanks show where the roots dip beneath the surface and all manner of fish swimp in the water below.

"Do you have any carrots? With the fronds?" Haruki asks. "The stores here always sell them without the leafy bits. It's such a waste." He then adds. "I have rabbits. They love carrots." He steps into this greenhouse, breathing in deeply, smiling at the humid air. Again careful not to touch anything, he does go to look.

Oberon is just the opposite of Haruki and as soon as he gets into the Greenhouse, he touches the plants and whatever else he manages to put his hands in. To each surface, he smiles brightly like a child."This is so awesome." He murmurs to no on in particular upon seeing the fishes into the tanks.

"Of course," Ian says and nods back to the greenhouse that they had come from. "There are carrots there, with fronds. That's how they grow, after all." He gives the man a sidelong smile. Ian doesn't seem to mind Oberon's touching and exploring. He just follows behind the pair to let them wander as they will.

Haruki smiles at Ian. "It is." His gaze drifts to Oberon, who he watches for a time.

Eventually, like a child, Oberon stops poking things around and turns his attention back to the other two other man. To then, he smiles brightly and puts his hands back into his pockets."Sorry. I couldn't stop myself." He whispers as his cheeks get pinky.

"If you'd like to take some with you, you are more than welcome," Ian offers to Haruki before he then turns back toward Oberon. "Oh, it's alright. We have lots of dirt around here. Even if you get a little in the water it should be okay." He gives Oberon an easy smile then and asks "Is there anything else you would like to see in specific?"

Haruki's quiet, just watching now. He smiles a thankyou to Ian at the offer. He looks back to Oberon.

"Hm. Actually, no." He says."I'll have lots of time to wander around now that I'm an internee here, right?" He asks, smiling brightly."I also asked Ashe a book to learn about Fruits to help me in this new path. I just hope Ava doesn't mind me sharing my attention."

"Of course," Ian says to Oberon with a nod of his head. "You can have all the time in the world. You're always welcome here, and so long as you treat the Gardens and those within it with respect, then I don't see that changing at all." He smiles at Oberon and says, "I'm glad to hear that you are getting the help that you need. I'm sure that everyone will be happy to assist."

Haruki's being all quiet, in a greenhouse with Ian and Oberon.

Ian, Oberon, and Haruki are in one of the large greenhouses on the Brennan Gardens commune. This one is about the same size as the one that they had previously been in, but there are large ponds that take up the four quadrants with walkways down the center that allow access to all four. In them, a forest of flora can be seen growing on top, ferns and leaves with roots that dangle into the water. Windows in the side of the tanks show where the roots dip beneath the surface and all manner of fish swimp in the water below. Ian is talking with Haruki and Oberon, talking about the fish and whatnot.

Oberon grins brightly to Ian and pats the man in the shoulder."Thanks. I'll do my best to achieve everyone's recognition." Then, he takes a deep breath and starts glancing around again."And, really, if you're intersted in sending your products to the Wayhouse, I can talk to Ava and make it happen. We can pay."

Haruki's worn out his enthusiasm on fish and plants. Unlike Ian, and Dave, he doesn't really live for this sort of thing, for all that he did seem quite excited to visit. He likes the warmth in the greenhouse though. His brow furrows again as the Wayhouse is mentioned, although he tries to conceal it. He glances outside.

Itsuki received a text from Haruki and is currently creeping up towards the greenhouse, looking around with a jumpy air before spotting the older twin and moving that way, knocking on the glass door of the greenhouse, fidgeting from foot to foot nervously.

Ian nods his head to Oberon and says, "I don't see why we can't make some arrangements with the Wayhouse. The farm can produce enough to assist in what the Wayhouse might need. I believe I met her once, at the dance.." He'd been a bit high at the time, though. He glances over at Haruki, noticing the second time the man reacts to the Wayhouse the way that he does. It's then that he notices Itsuki outside and waves him in. The doors are unlocked.

Haruki startles and spins around at the knocking. He smiles oh so brightly at Itsuki. "It's my brother," he says. "He's really shy though. I was hoping he'd show up." And then he calls out. "Itsuki! Come in! This is Dave, and Ian." He introduces. "And this is my baby brother, Itsuki."

Oberon grins once more to Ian and follows the other Fairest's eyes to find another man coming inside."I think it's a foursome now." He jokes and before he could say something else the introductions come and the Desrochers arches a brow in a deep arch."Oh my..." He says and tenses up a bit. He turns to the other Fairest and stares at him for a single second before turning back to the newcomer.

Itsuki is hesitant to approach, nose twitching a little as he shuffles closer. Annoyance at being described as the 'baby' brother distracts him long enough to roll his eyes though, throwing silent air quotes around the term with his fingers before clearing his throat, nodding and waving hesitantly. "Um. Hi." He brushes a strand of hair behind one lop ear, which somehow causes a cascading ripple that turns all of his hair from black to a snowy white, fidgeting in place.

Ian glances between the three of them and their many and varied reactions to one another, one eyebrow creeping up just a little bit. The tall Fairest with his alien golden eyes and skin that shimmers with a hint of green flickers a look from one to the other, and for the moment says nothing until Haruki makes the introductions. He dips his head to Itsuki when he comes in and says, "Ian. Haruki mentioned that you might like the greenhouses and the gardens. Welcome, and make yourself at home." He then glances over at Oberon and raises an eyebrow slightly.

"They grow vegetables that eat fish," Haruki says to Itsuki. "Isn't that awesome." Okay, maybe he didn't quite understand the whole aquaponics thing. "And the fish eat the vegetables. Like the circle of life!" He may be babbling a bit. He elbows Oberon at the foursome comment. "My brother." He repeats. Then back to Itsuki. "He says we can get some carrots, along with their tops!" As if this is the best news ever. Maybe he's overdoing the enthusiasm a bit.

"I'm Dave and only now I realized how important this meeting is." Oberon says and offers a hand to a shake after being elbowed by Haruki."Are you new here? It's nice to see that you're one us, though." He pauses for a smile."A nature oriented person, I mean."

Itsuki nods a little at Ian, sidling over towards Haruki, staying close to his twin as he blinks. "Oh. You grow um, vegetables too?" He looks at Ian, then Dave, since he's not really clear who does what here, nodding again as he rubs his wrists to Oberon, belatedly realizing he's supposed to shake the taller Fairest's hand and doing so. "Um. Well. Kind of. I uh, I've been, away for a while." He skips a beat, looking away and not responding to the 'one of us' comment, although his nose twitches nervously, pulling his hand gingerly back.

Haruki's eyes narrow at what Dave says. He looks almost angry. He forces a smile, all tense now though. He'll let Itsuki hide behind him if need be.

There's a moment where Ian seems about to correct Haruki on the topic of fish-eating plants, but then he just shrugs and lets it go. That'd be a new rumor to start about the place. He just smiles a little in amusement then. Then he ndos to Itsuki and says, "Yes, my family created this place and I run it."

Oberon stares at the newcomer and bites his lower lip. Thinking, as always."Welcome to our land. If you have any questions, please let us now. We're locals, right, Ian? We can help you to get in touch with other people, find you a place to live and even a job in case you need one." He says putting a hand on Ian's shoulder."Don't be shy. Haruki can tell you how cool we are." Then, he turns to Haruki and eyeblinks to him in a charming way.

Haruki's tense, and agitated even, something has him on edge. He mutters a short accusation to Itsuki in Japanese.

The smaller twin's nose twitches, although he doesn't quite hide behind Haruki. Well, maybe just a little bit. Looking from Ian and David to the elder Nakamura, blinking in surprise, shadows obscuring half his face as he whispers something back, sounding vaguely irritated before he nods belatedly to Oberon. "Um. Yes. Well he already told me that you're very pretty and you've been having lots of really great sex, so I guess it is implied. But it's nice to finally meet you."

Ian just looks from one to the other, as though trying to decipher just what it is that he's watching. He then dips his head, acknowledging that, as Oberon says, that they are locals. "You are welcome here at the Gardens whenever you like." There's an amused little smile though that tugs at the edges of his lips as he looks between Haruki and Oberon, "Well, that sounds like a ringing endorsement."

Oberon's cheeks get instantly pinky and the man gives everyone a very shy smile and stays still for a little while. Wordless. Then, he stares at Itsuki for a little while."Well. Haruki has my number. You can call me at any time if you need help with settling down and getting to know your way around this land. And if you're a magician like your brother, there are a few people you should meet."

Haruki whispers in some rapidfire Japanese with Itsuki. He doesn't seem happy at all. And then the subject of sex is coming up, which causes him to blush to the tips of his ears. "You didn't need to tell everyone that. Ian doesn't want to know!" That was in English. At the last of what Oberon says he looks even more upset. And the anger fizzles down into tears, which he chokes back.

Itsuki answers back in the same language, voice softening quickly as he glances over, frowning a little at Oberon's words as his ears droop, murmuring, "Um, mind if we talk outside for a minute?" He tugs at Haruki's sleeve.

There are times when Ian would have opined that he doesn't mind knowing at all, but Haruki's anger and tears curbs his usual offhandedness and he's quiet, instead simply nodding and saying "Take what time you need." He then glances over toward Oberon and says, "So.. you are also a musician?"

Oberon tenses up even more upon seeing Haruki's tears but doesn't try to approach the man. He nods idly to Ian's question as he waits for the two asian men to head outside to turn to the other Spring countier giving his back to the entrance. Then, he gets very close to the other Fairest and whispers something.

Haruki lets Itsuki lead him outside for some fresh air. They can be seen through the class of course.

Itsuki slips into the Asian crouch, whispering and conferring privately with his brother in hushed Japanese just outside.

Ian shakes his head just a little bit to whatever Oberon says to him. He glances toward the two outside and then back to the Fairesst before him. Whatever he says is said quietly, a slight gesture of open palms lifted upward spreading out in front of him, indicating perhaps he doesn't know the answer to whatever question might have been posed.

From inside the Greenhouse Oberon can be seeing shruging and glancing backwards to where the two asian men are talking outside. He then turns back to Ian and says something more and then pats the other Fairest in the shoulder.

Haruki suddenly tries to hug Itsuki, murmuring more things to him.

Itsuki is still a moment, before returning the hug, squeezing Haruki and murmuring something before handing the taller man a handkerchief, taking his other hand and tugging him back towards the greenhouse.

Haruki stands up, and fakes a few sneezes when he returns to the greenhouse. Allergies! Right. He mops at his eyes with a handkerchief Itsuki's given him.

Ian tilts his head and raises an eyebrow just a little at what Oberon says to him, the two of them conversing over by one of the fish tanks. He murmurs something in return to Oberon and then glances back over his shoulder as the brothers return, dipping his head to them in a welcome-back sort of way.

"Probably" It's Oberon's answer to whatever Ian said to him a little bit ago. Upon seeing Ian's gesture, he too turns around and smiles brightly to the two asian men."Are you alright, Haruki?" He asks as he puts both hands into his pockets once more.

Haruki nods in response to Oberon. He fakes another sneeze. Achoo! "I just needed some air. Can we go get some carrots now?" he asks hopefully. "Please?"

"Aniki's always had much worse allergies." This is said with a deadpan by the bunny, staring directly at the two taller men as if daring them to not believe it. Nodding to Haruki's request, "I would also like to see the vegetables."

Ian smiles, a little quirk of a smile at Oberon's answer, reaching over to give Oberon's shoulder a light squeeze as he passes by him and nods to Haruki, "We can, yes, let's just head over to the other greenhouse and we can put a box together for you." He then moves across the way, and back toward the greenhouse with the vegetables. There's no comment made about allergies or otherwise, the golden eyed man seeming content to let it pass without comment.

Oberon grins back at Ian when the other Fairest passes by him. Then, he gets closer to Haruki and hugs him with a single arm pressing the smaller man against himself."Don't you want to go home?" He asks and turns to Itsuki with narrow eyes. Maybe trying to read the other asian man.

Haruki's likely glad he has Haruki to lie for him. He just nods at the man's words and holds his handkerchief. "You've been very kind," he says to Ian. "Is there anything we can do for you?" He's tense when Oberon hugs him, shaking his head. "No. I came here for carrots. I'm good now. And Itsuki's here. And I'm surrounded by all my favourite people. Isn't this lovely? Ian's my friend! I might not have won the icecream contest but the true prize was friendship, so I got the best prize of all." He's babbling a bit.

Itsuki follows a little behind the others, the grumpbunny falling more back to withdrawn mode now that the crisis is passed, letting Haruki babble away happily.

When they reach the greenhouse that houses most of the vegetables, Ian picks up one of the wooden crates used for delivering produce and he goes over to where some of the carrots are being freshly picked. He plucks some of the best looking bunches with nice leafy fronds on top and he puts those into the box. He also loads in a few other fresh vegetables to go with them, but he keeps the contents to mostly carrots. When he returns, he presents the box to Haruki and says, "No, there's nothing that we need right now. Though if you find yourself with some time and feel the urge to contribute to working in the garden, you would always be welcome."

Oberon grins and eventually releases Haruki from his grisp, but keep following the group up to the other Greenhouse but when he reaches the building, his phone starts ringing. When he checks it, he bites his lower lip."Haruki, I need to get going. I'll check on you later." Then, he turns to the other asian man and smiles."I'll be waiting on your call." And finally, he turns to the other Fairest and just eyeblinks to him before turning around and heading outside.

Haruki takes a carrot from the box, never mind the dirt on it, he starts nibbling on the fronds. Around a mouth of greenery he smiles. "Thankyou so much." He nods at the request. "It's a bit cold outside just now." As Oberon starts to leave he nods. "I'll see you later.""

Itsuki offers no immediate answer, just a little, still-nervous wave. He doesn't sample the goods like Haruki but does offer a small smile. "Thanks. I'm sure the gang will enjoy them too."
