Overview

Born August 15th, 1953, Jacqueline Ambrose came to English parents already in their late thirties. An unexpected but well-loved child, she grew large and strong, with a quiet happiness to her. This was most evident when she was playing with her family’s two large dogs, or exploring nature.

It was in 1971, however, when that life was torn away. On a camping trip near Fort Brunsett, the sound of a deer drew an unwary Jacqueline away from her parents, and the girl who came back to their campsite was not the girl who had left. While the Fetch took over Jacqueline’s life, and made her parents happy, if a little confused by some sudden, but slight changes to their daughter, Jacqueline herself was ripped away from this world, dragged into Arcadia by a creature known as The Horned Huntsman.

In the mortal world, forty-six years passed for the Ambrose family largely without incident. Jacqueline’s parents grew old and eventually passed away in the early 1990’s, mourning a daughter who they believe had passed away in 1984, the Fetch killed in a car accident close to home. As far as the world is aware, the Ambrose family no longer exist.

For the real Jacqueline, only four years were spent in Arcadia, suffering at the hands of her Keeper, who kept her as both prey, and as a prize steed in his stable. Her memories of these times are fragmented and blurry, but she remembers great pain, both emotional and physical. The Horned Huntsman did as he liked with her body, letting her “escape” time and again only to track her down with his hounds, dragging her back to the stable where he would punish her for her “misdeeds”.

It was during one of these “escapes”, however, that Jacqueline finally made her true escape. Following her memories of that last fateful camping trip, she breaks through the Hedge, finding herself bleeding, naked and alone in the middle of the Tamarack Falls woodlands night, the howls of the Horned Huntsman’s hounds still ringing in her ears.

She has no connections, nowhere to go, and no desire to return to whence she came. Jacqueline Ambrose is now a woman out of time, her only true skills being her strength and determination to never be caged again.

RP Hooks

  • New In Town - A very recent escapee from Arcadia, Jacqueline is still finding her feet in Tamarack Falls.
  • Tower of Strength - Jacqueline is huge, making her both easy to pick out in a crowd, and the sort of person you want around when you need something lifted.
  • Heart in the Forest - Partially due to her seeming, partially due to natural inclination, Jacqueline feels strong ties to the Natural world.

Woodkid - Run Boy Run

Run boy run! This world is not made for you,
Run boy run! They're trying to catch you,
Run boy run! Running is a victory,
Run boy run! Beauty lays behind the hills.

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky
like a tiger defying the laws of gravity.
I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva.
I'm gonna go go go!

Michael Jackson - Rock With You

Out on the floor,
there ain't nobody there but us.
Girl, when you dance,
there's a magic that must be love.
