The Desrochers Family holds a Cinco De Mayo celebration!

Location

Desrochers Bar

It's the Fourth of May. So it's Star Wars Day. But Desrochers is also celebrating Cinco De Mayo on this Friday evening. There's drink specials in the way of margaritas and other themed drinks. There's also TACOS!! There's a good amount of people in the bar, but it's not wall to wall packed.

The two bartenders on duty are Noah and Signe. The silver haired woman is dressed in jeans and an old school star wars t-shirt with a very glittery sombrero on. She's chatting up a few people at the bar while she makes margaritas for them.

There is a sombrero sitting at the bar. It is large, large enough that it creates a significant bubble of personal space. It is also festooned with color, the dyed straw of its weave in pinks, greens, blues, and yellows. The sombrero sits at the bar with Aeros and Whisper. And beneath the sombrero there appears to be a petite woman dressed in all black victorian style attire which is entirely incogruous to the giant hat which nearly engulfs her. The tiny porcelain skinned woman also has a very large drink in her hand, frozen, with umbrella and fruit sticking out of it.

Hope has a fancy fruity drink, and Whisper is trying her very best to steal the fruit out of the top of it. Which might be less of a problem if the sombrero wasn't taking up so much of the space.

Malachi enters the bar quietly, his large frame dodging a couple as they leave. He is dressed in faded black jean with holes starting at the knees and a blue t-shirt with a Millennium Falcon flying away from an exploding Death Star. He works his away to one end of the bar and leans against it, waving to Signe once she turns his way.

The tall metallic skinned skinned changeling known as Aeros sits with Whisper and the sombrero that may have Hope beneath it. He has to lean a bit to the side as to not knock the large colorful hat but he's not put out by the whole affair. Instead he smiles at both while sipping from his beer. Dressed in a simple black t-shirt and jeans he lets his glowing electric blue eyes move over the bar and the others milling about. "I feel like we should have all brought sombreros. Though for the comedy of it mine would have to be very small and Whisper yours would have to be normal sized." A smile is given to the bartender as he motions for one more beer.

In the wake of the very large Changeling that just stepped through the door, a rather small one steps in through the doors. Velvet isn't really dressed for the theme in her typical black silk wrap around shirt and black skirt with tall heels. Even in the heels she's easy to miss amongst all the taller folks around. The Darkling weaves through the crowd pretty easily, ducking and moving out of people's way as hse makes it to the bar, managing to slide into a just vacated seat there with a look of triumph. Her hand lifts to try to summon the silver haired woman behind the bar, lavender eyes sweeping the room to see if there are any familiar faces.

Signe gives the margaritas that are finished over to the girls at the bar and she takes their empty glasses away. Noah meanwhile places a few more orders for tacos for a few at the end of the bar. The silver haired woman gives a smile when Aeros gives a motion for another beer and she grabs one from the cooler and uncaps it as she turns around to sit it in front of Aeros. Then she spots Malachi and there's a wiggle of her tattoo fingers to the big Changeling, "Be with you in one second handsome." she tells him. She looks to Velvet with a smile, "What can I get you?" she asks.

Hope is remarkably adept with the motion of that sombrero, able to tilt her head at just the right angle to thwart any fruit thievery on the part of Whisper despite the other woman's valiant attempts. To her credit, she doesn't pull the little plastic sword out and stab her with it, either. Hope murmurs to Aeros, "I am sure that we could find you a tiny sombrero," her voice quiet, lips curved up a little at the edges. Black nails tap tap against her glass, which she lifts to take a sip from delicately, utilizing the straw to avoid colliding with the fruit and jostling the hat. From beneath its comically enormous brim, she observes the others entering the bar.

Malachi nods across the bar to Signe, his rock-like exterior cracking and reforming as he takes a stool and waits his turn. Looking around the bar, he offers a rough, but friendly smile towards the trio with the sombrero and then leans to say something as Noah flits by and then runs off again to help someone else. He reaches for the basket of peanuts arms length away and starts munching on them idly.

"Why would I get a normal one?" Whisper wonders, her eyes narrowing a fraction at Aeros before she looks up, then down, then back towards Hope and him, "Is this some kind of not tall or short joke?"

With that first beer down there is a smile given to Signe as the beers are swapped out. Aeros then leans forward a bit to ask of the silver haired woman before she can slip off, "Can I order another like what the sombrero is drinking? Extra fruit to make sure we don't have a battle on our hands." A polite nod follows as he turns to look at both with a shake of his hear. Turning a bit he gives a nod to Malachi as the large man sits, letting his glowing gaze study the man before a like nod is given to Velvet as she is given quiet study as well. "May the fourth be with you both." The beer is lifted up in greeting as a smile is given to both. Looking back to Whisper he says with a smile, "Its the comedy of it. See the huge hat with the small then that normal one, right?"

"Can I get a Jack and Coke and maybe whatever kind of nacho special you've got going on?" Velvet requests of Signe as the woman focuses her attention on her. "Thanks!" Ankles cross beneath her bar stool as she pauses in her survey of the crowd, eyes landing on Aeros at his comment. "Don't mind me, I'm more of a Revenge of the fifth kind of gal," she offers with a playful uptick of one brow. "This place is way more booming than I thought it would be."

"I can get that for you with extra fruit." Signe states quietly with a smile to Aeros. With that she is moving off to make another drink with extra fruit for the sombrero wearing one. She settles it down for them and then reaches under the counter and produces a smaller sombrero, "Someone needed a smaller one?" she asks innocently. Then she gives a nod to Velvet, "Jack and coke it is my lady and nachos. Noah, one order of Nachos." she aks her cousin. He is already off to make them. "Malachi, you want your usual to drink darlin'?" she asks the statue.

"We should get nachos," comes the quiet voice from under the giant sombrero. She then reaches out one pale hand and pats at Whisper's sleeve, "Yes, something like that." Then there's a glance over to Aeros as he orders another drink with more fruit to prevent all out war. WHen all he's really done is now arm them both with plastic swords. Hope's gaze shifts over in the direction of Velvet and Malachi, tipping that giant hat in greeting, the serious little doctor seeming in a good mood, at least, her sharp features seem to contain a bit of a smile.

The smaller sombrero is taken with a grin as Aeros judges the size verses Hopes. Shaking his head he hands it off to Whisper with a laugh, "This isn't small enough for the comedy. We need a smaller one but this is just right for that mid-range hat." A nod follows as he looks back to Velvet to say, "We're going to start running out of days that are special at this rate. But I guess if we double up things like Revenge of the Fifth and Cinco de Mayo we'll be ok."

"The usual is fine, Sig. Thanks, darlin." Malachi's Texan accent flows smooth like honey when he speaks, though there is an undertone of gravel and rock sliding beneath the words. "May the fourth be with y'all as well and happy pretend to be a Mexican day." Malachi grins a little more and looks over to Velvet and gives a small wave to the Darkling.

"Thank you." That part is offered to Signe as the woman moves off to get everything made. Her gaze is still drifting across the room, taking in all the different, unfamilir Lost that are there. "To be honest, I don't need it to be a special day to go out for drinks and nachos. But it's as great an excuse as any." Velvet's lips curve faintly as her attention shifts back towardss Aeros. "I'm Velvet, by the way. Pleasure." Spotting Malachi's wave, a delicate hand lifts, fingers waggling in his direction.

Signe hands over the Jack and Coke to Velvet and Noah delivers the nachos, "It's no problem." she tells Velvet with a smile. Then there's a smile to Aeros, "I have a tiny sombrero, but it's in the back." she tells him. Then there's a nod to Malachi as she gets his drink and walks over to him, she places it on the bar before she leans over and gives him a kiss on the cheek, "Hi there." she smiles to him.

Hope turns her attention toward the other black clad Lost in the room and dips her head to Velvet, which causes the giant sombrero to wobble precariously. "Evening," she says when the woman greets Aeros. She does, however, make an effort not to hit Whisper with it. She asks Signe then, "Could we get an order of nachos as well?" Because regardless of whether the other two will have any -- she is getting some.

Malachi reaches one hand for the drink and the other to touch Signe's arm and leans easily over the bar to give her a kiss in return.. "Hey there, beautiful. Quite the crowd you've got tonight?" He lifts his glass and sips at his drink, which is a Texas Tea, because, of course it is. He shoos her away with a chuckle and looks down at Velvet. "I'm with you. More of the May the Sith kind of guy, myself."

Whisper's a good sport, so she wears the just right hat with a sigh. While Aeros is distracted she tries to steal his drink, only to glance at Hope with a frown, "Revenge of the what?"

"Velvet, nice to meet you. I'm Aeros and giant sombrero is Hope while regular sized sombrero is Whisper." There is a wide grin as Signe says she has a smaller hat, "Fantastic. I'd wear it if you'd want to bring it out. I'll make sure to leave it here when we go." Nodding he looks back just in time to see his drink taken. "I'll have another beer as well please." Its obvious the introductions are made to everyone as he looks back toward Malachi and then Signe.

Drink in hand, Velvet lifts it in a cheers motion towards Malachi. See? He gets it! She takes a long sip before setting the drink back on the bar and diving right into the nachos. Her fingers are careful, plucking out a chip and hovering over the plate as she eats. Lavender eyes shift to blue as they dart from person to person as their names are given, commiting them all to memory. "Good to meet some of the locals. I only just got into town about a week ago. Still trying to get my bearings."

"Malachi Grayson. It is an honor to meet you all." Mal motions at Signe with his thumb and grins slowly, the expression cracking his stony visage. "Bartenders make the best girlfriends, you know? Glad to see so many people here tonight and to meet some new ones!" He takes a drink from his texas Tea and nods, going quiet again as he often does.

Signe brings back an order of nachos for Hope and her friends, "If you need jalepenos or anything, let me know and I'll grab them real quick." she tells her. Then there's a smile to Mal, "It's going alright. Good to have so many people in." she admits. Then she offers a smile to the others, "I'm Signe Desrochers. The other bartender is my cousin, Noah Desrochers." the Fae-Touched tells them.

Hope waves a little bit to the others as Aeros introduces her. "Nice to meet you," she says to them between sips of her drink. When the nachos arrive she murmurs a thank you to Signe and then shakes her head at the offer of jalapenos, "No, thank you." She reaches out delicately and takes one of the nachos, opening her mouth to eat it and showing off extremely sharp teeth. She then says, "We've been sailing for a bit, and recently drifted back home. It is good to see old friends again, and to meet new."

"Malachi, Signe, its a pleasure." Though Aeros tries to look like he's easily wading through conversation with the group it seems at times as if he's having the conversation by the numbers or reviewing instructions in his mind while they speak. After a short pause he smiles once more to say, "Its good to meet new people and more so those like us." Reaching out for a nacho he nods in agreement to Hope's words of sailing and returning not long ago. Munching the cheese covered chip he asks the group, "So Signe we know works here, what about you two? What is it you do around here?"

"Same last name as the bar. Does that mean that you two own the place?" The question is directed towards Signe as Velvet plucks out another piece of nacho for herself. A curious gaze darts through the group, taking note of who seems to know who. "Sailing? Were you guys off somewhere warmer?" she guesses. It's as good a reason as any to sail away during the Winter season.

"Nice to meet everyone." Signe offers as she gives a nod to them. Then she's taking a drink of her water as there's a lull and she takes a seat behind the bar. Woo! "We're part of the family. Don't own it though. My aunt does." she smiles to that. "His mom." she points to Noah. "We got so many boys in the family." she muses. Then she gives a smile to Hope, "Welcome home then." she raises her glass of water to them.

"I do some private security work, but I've been on vacation which is rapidly turning into a kind of sabbatical? I do some odd jobs and work over at that Russian restaurant here in town. Winter something?" Malachi shrugs awkwardly, his body not quite moving right, but the point gets across. "As for being here? Mainly moral support and the poutine here is amazing. And welcome.. and welcome back to y'all. Seems everyone makes it here or back here eventually."

Hope does not fight for the nachos, as she ordered them for all those nearby. She plucks one from time to time, eating them slowly while the conversation goes on around her. She raises her own glass in Signe's direction at the welcome home. There's a curious glance in Malachi's direction. "Poutine? Here?" She isn't used to seeing poutine south of the Canadian border.

"Private security? Nice." Aeros gives a nod of approval at the job that seems to fit in with his Summer Court sensibilities. "I myself am a swashbuckler and potentially a pirate yet, Hope and Whisper say I'm not allowed an eye-patch or to talk in a pirate voice." The talk of the Canadian food doesn't draw his attention and instead he works through a few more nachos while adding around his full mouth, "If you know of treasure let me know. You know us pirates, we're always on the lookout."

"I just agreed to do some private security work for someone the other night. It's good work when you can find it." Her? Velvet is all of five foot two and maybe one hundred and five pounds soaking wet. It doesn't look like she could hurt a fly. Maybe a fly, a baby one, though. "Disney has a bunch of pirate shows right now, and you know how they are. Sounds like Hope and Whisper are just trying to protect you from the copyright monsters." Her head bobs sagely, ears giving a little bounce.

"You'd be surprised how many private security gigs people need around here." Signe states with a smile as she stacks up some empty glasses and heads for the sink with them. "I'll be right back. Anyone need anything from the kitchen?" she asks.

"Yes! Poutine here! And some of the best I've found outside of the Great White North. Homemade gravy and fresh curds. You should try it sometime. Vermont's not exactly far from Canada." Malachi smiles, eyes closing a bit as he describes the delicious food, if he could drool, he would be. He takes a sip from his drink and sets it down carefully onto the bar. "A pirate, eh? So, kind of an Errol Flynn vibe? I like it. The world needs more true pirates!" He turns to Velvet and looks her over again, then just nods his head. "It is good work, for sure. I work for a global company and it's definitely good money, if not always as exciting as one might imagine."

Hope glances sidelong over at Aeros and arches a brow at him, then her eyes close and her head shakes minutely, though there's the faintest tick of a smile at the edge of her thin-pressed lips. There's a glance over toward Velvet and Hope actually does smile, just a little bit in amusement. "You wouldn't want to be that sort of pirate, love," she murmurs to Aeros and reaches out to trail her fingertips along his arm. She says a quiet "No, but thank you," to Signe whens he heads back to the kitchen. Then to Malachi she says, "That is true. I've just never seen it served here before. Perhaps on another night. I'm not sure I want to mix poutine and nachos."

"But we love fighting monsters. Its right up there with the pirating." Smiling a bit, Aeros looks at his two shipmates and then gives a nod back towards Velvet. "Ok. You're probably right on the rational and reasoning." Glowing electric blue eyes look between the rest of those gathered nearby then shakes his head towards Signe to show he doesn't need anything either. Pointing to Malachi and nodding about the Errol Flynn vibe he stops as Hope trails her nails along the metallic flesh of his forearm. Smiling he gives her a nod of his head.
