After the two trips to the Hedge, Paige let people know they could come to Cyclone, to the Lost-only back room, to have a drink. On her, even! She's already there, looking much better than when she was unconscious, and the bird is AWOL for the moment. She's sitting on the couch, having a beer and playing on her phone. Relaxing! Byron doesn't really need to be asked twice when free booze is offered, so the gargoyle stops in the front to get himself a glass of the good bourbon, before pushing his way into the back. Paige is offered a small smile as the door closes behind him, and a murmured, "Good to see you upright again..." Paige grins. "We will never speak of that again. I dont' want to have to hurt you," she teases. "Want a beer? Something stronger?" she asks, using her own bottle to motion to empty places to sit. Some even look like they may support Byron! Maybe. Rorschach followed Paige out of the hedge and to warmth. He didn't have a phone, and maybe he did or didn't have someone to alert that he was back. His arms were curled under his head on the table, and there wa a full beer sitting there. Byro came in, the Bug's antennae swayed. Fingers came up in a wiggle wave of hullo. Byron chuckles softly as he drops onto one of the more sturdier seats, wiggling his glass, "I'll take a refill of this in a moment. And no worries. I wasn't going to give you TOO hard of a time." He winks at that and reclines a little, tiny wings fluttering into place as he settles, "Everyone got out alive, and considering what we walked into, thats a good thing" "Uh huh. Suuuure you weren't," Paige says, sticking her tongue out at Byron. "But yeah, we're all alive. And me'n him," she motions to Rorschach, "made it back okay from our scouting too." She brightens. "I got a really big ass bird to attack a really big ass turtle! That was pretty badass, wasn't it, Rorschach?" Rorschach tapped his nose and in an ungraceful gesture pointed to Byron. He sat up a bit and looked a tad unfocused. He made some gestures and just smiled at Paige like she was just the most delightful thing in the world. Lasily he looked back to Byron and made a gesture with his hands being wide- no wider. yeah. HUUUUGE huge bird. Yeah. Byron takes a long drink from his glass and glances between the two, lifting a brow, "I'm sorry I missed that. I take it it went well then?" He flashes a grin at Rors at his descriptions and murmurs, "Yeah, I guess you are kinda naturally good and scouting around...Kinda glad you weren't with us the night before, that might have ended badly." Paige grins at Rorschach. "Very fucking big, yeah," she agrees, nodding. "And Byron's right. Last night, what I remember of it, was very not fun. Well, part of it was fun, just a little part. But it's over! It never happened. Nope, nothing ever happened," she says, nodding enthusiastically. "So! What are you guys up to lately?" Rorschach considered the question and just shrugged non-commitally to Paige's question. He looked to Byron as teh two talkie were doing most of the discussion. He didn't drink the beer yet. He did lick the table, considere it for a moment in deep contemplation and then just took to drinking his beer slowly. Convesations sometimes made things taste funny today. Weird. Byron grins and nods, still glancing between the two, "Did either of you find anything interesting out that we can use? Im not entirely certain yet that that cave we cleared out will work for us, so in the meantime, I'm still keeping options open..." "Mostly just the really big ass turtle and the really big ass bird that wanted turtle soup for dinner. Left 'em fighting. Could be doing it for a while, so..." Paige shrugs and takes another sip of her beer. "I don't know that the cave'd work for us, even if we could be sure none of those guys would come back." Rorschach looked to Byron and had the look that the word 'Duuuuude' should be leaving his face. He started digging through his bag. It was... pretty packed and smelled of cocoa butter. He showed it to Byron but held up a finger like look but don't touch. He made a gesture to Paige like 'knife' maybe a butter or steak knife perhaps. He wasn't inclined to pull the one in his boot for whatever reason. There were bark samples in his bag, scaley, and looking like they'd been cleanly seared off with something that melted them? It was almost more flesh than bark. Byron cranes his head in to look when Rors shows off his prize, but as instructed, doesn't try to pick up, "Is that from the turtle? And we took samples of that cloth those creatures had on, just in case a crafter can use them." He pauses and nods at Paige, "And you may be right, but we didn't get a chance to explore the entire path, so there may be better places further down. once everyone is back up to speed, we'll try again." Paige glances over to Rorschach, then nods. "Well, I think it's from trees around the turtle instead. Samples. Smells weird. I didn't take any samples, cause I was in the air while he was on the ground. Still, it was successful enough, I suppose," she says, shrugging. "Not sure what he's gesturing about though. I need to learn to speak Ink Blot," she says, grinning. Rorschach pulled out a notepad and scribbled: 'Awesome. You want to learn to speak Awesome' He winked up at Paige and turned the notpad around and jotted on the paper sliding it to Byron to read: 'Running this by my people. Turtle phased when it moved. Left behind half living trees. Taste amaaaazing, but then again I'm fucking radioactive.' He shrugged and took one of the leaves and bit it, fought with it like beef jerkey, and put the rest in the bag again. On the bottom under that he wrote: 'You might be trippin balls for days or croak. Dunno. Gonna figure out how to weaponize it or make it safe. Or eat it.' He turned to Paige and made some gestures to her that were loose at best. He hadn't started drinking and he was into his cups already maybe? Paige was with him the whole time so when that happened was anyone's guess. Whatever he was gesticulating it might be complimentary? Byron chuckles lo at the note from Rors as he reads it, then eyes Rors for a moment, "I'm not sure 'this will make you trip balls' is such a good idea to try it, but then stranger things have happened. Let me know what they find out, though. I'm interested to hear...I dont think I've ever heard of that before." With that said, he takes another drink from his bourbon and leans back, eyeing Rorschach curiously. Paige is sitting on the couch with a beer, but she leans closer to read Ror's writing, grinning. "So modest, aren't you?" She leans back, getting comfortable. "I'm avoiding eating anything from that particular part of the Hedge, to be honest," she says, wrinkling her nose a little. "But yeah, like I said, he knows more about what happened on the ground. He's sneakier on the ground than I am." Somebody who has never been to the Cyclone before, but heard it was a Harvestmen hangout from a vaguely defined source knocks on the door to the back area, then soon after opens it and sticks his head in. It's probably not a familiar head to anybody there, with the smooth red scales and reptillian eyes. He spots the lost gathered there and flashes a sharp-toothed grin towards them. "Hey! I was told this was a place I should check out. Name's Damion King." Assuming there's no obvious signs of hostility, he steps into the room. He's currently wearing a gray t-shirt and sweatpants. The shirt has THE IRON CHURCH printed on the front of it. On his feet is a pair of sneakers. "Am I intruding?" That would explain why the Bug looked...well... yeah. Eating something in the hedge that caused someone who was a walking project in toxicity to start tripping balls? Oh fun. His hand ran through his hair and he slid a page over to ...well Paige like he was trying to shuffleboard. it went floating sideways and landed on the next chair over. He sighed. He picked it up and handed the note to her: 'Totally modest. More modest than anyone else, expertly even' with a winking emitocon drawn after it. At Looked to Damion asking if he was crashing. The Bug nodded yes but seemed to wipe mock tears of pride from one eye like he couldn't be happier that he did it. AH so proud. Man he was animated tonight. Byron lifts his glass in greeting to Damion and smiles, "Welcome. Have a drink. Take a load off." He just chuckles at the interaction between Paige and Rors, shaking his head, then directs to Rorschach, "I think I'm glad we have you on our side, but that still doesn't mean Im not going to wonder about you from time to time..." Paige looks over to the door when it opens. "Not intruding, no. We're just hanging out and talking. I'm Paige, that's Ink Blot, AKA Rorschach," she says, motioning to Ror. Byron, well, he can introduce himself more easily than Rorschach can! The burly Dragon stops. "Nice to meet you Paige, Blotto, and.... Broadway. I'm still newish to town. And I've been busy with stuff in my....you know, more normal life. So I haven't met as many other local Lost as I'd like. Luckily, you all look likeable enough." He He checks for a free seat, and assuming he finds one settles down onto it, crossing his crimson arms over his chest. "So, what're you all talking about?" His eyes drop down to the paper they're apparently reading from to talk to Rorschach. It's an easy thing, to miss the smaller figure coming in through the door behind the larger, reptillian man. Zillah is, after all, a creature of shadows and dark spaces. But there was word left for her, in the sneaky way of certain bugs, to come here. And who is she to turn down an invitation? When Damion moves for a seat, she's there, standing in the spot that he vacated, and lifts a gloved hand to waggle fingers at the gathered. There's a leather moto jacket worn, zipped, over the velvet cacophony that is her outfit. Hair wild, like the wind has had a hellva time with her tonight. Byron smirks at the nickname and mutters, "Yes, I saw that show. Hiya. I'm Byron." He takes a moment to down the rest of the bourbon in his glass and set the empty down nearby. Noting the darkling coming in after the dragon, he lifts a finger in Zillah's direction and adds, "Hello again. You were at the meeting last week, weren't you? We didn't talk much at the time. Good to see you out here too..." "Huh? What show?" Paige asks Byron curiously. "I've missed a lot of shows in the past couple decades." Which makes her sound very, very sad. She's a woman who enjoys her TV, apparently! When Byron addresses Zillah she looks toward the woman, head tilting and watching for a moment. "Hello." Rorschach looked three sheets to the wind on a good day. Right now he was a bit on his own planet. He gave a lazy smile to Paige and scribbled "They have all teh shows on computers now. youcan watch them all in one sitting too. Show you sometime' And then, aaaah sweet creature of darkness come to see he did not wind flaton hsi face by morning. Or perhaps got the memo. One of the two. Likely the latter. Maybe the former. Antennae extended with a lazy grin and he blew her akiss. OH someone was having a good time. To Byron he pointed at the Draconian and then gave the thumbs up. He wasn't entirely saying why but he had a bug seal of approval. When he notices Zillah in the room, Damion blinks in a lazy, reptillian sort of way and glances towards the door before saying, "Quiet one I see. Nice to meet you too." He gives Paige a smile as she questions Byron and says to her, "One called Gargoyles. I"m sure you can guess why I used a name from it." His head tilts as he watches Rorschach scribble away on his note, and finally says, "So. You don't talk, huh? All the time? Or is this a temporary thing?" There's a furrow of brows from Zillah at the mention of the show Gargoyles, like she's trying to remember something that she can't quite put a finger on. A breath let out, a shake of head, and she lets it pass. "I was, yes. Good to see you again," she offers to Byron, voice soft but a bright flash of smile going with it. And then, then there's the bug she's looking for, and he's blowing her a kiss. She mimes catching it, as she offers to Paige and Damion, "Hey. I'm Zee." Then she's meandering her way towards Rorschach, grinning. "You're high as fuck right now." Paige returns Rorschach's smile, and at his written offer she brightens. "That'd be great! Though...need to get a computer for that," she admits with a sheepish smile. "Never really bothered with it." Damion's question to Ror has her shaking her head, "Far as I know it's not temporary. He's a quick writer though. And hi, I'm Paige," she offers back to Zillah. Byron rumbles softly and answers Rors and Paige, "Gargoyles. A Car..." He trails off and grins, tapping his nose and pointing to Damion. "What the big guy said. Had it pointed out to me a few times, though I didn't think I had that big of a beer belly. I can't be Goliath? You're hurting my ego, man." He winks at Damion and shifts his weight a little to lounge even a little more lazily, if that was at all possible. Better late than never? Veronica wanders in with her jacket slung over the crook of her elbow, a lazy smile on her lips. "High as fuck? Did I miss the good stuff?" she pouts, if only for a moment, the look in her eyes betraying her amusement. "Hey all," she greets, hand lifting to offer a sweeping wave for all those assembled. "Nice place you got, Paige," she grins at the harpy, directing a lift of her chin that-a-way. "Hey, B," she gives Byron a familiar look as well. "I'm Veronica," she adds for the benefit of the others she hasn't met yet, while looking for a chair to slouch onto. Rorschach looked up to ZIllah with a grin from gleaming black eyes. Oh that smile was permiated with mischief. He nodded as if this was a somehow success? Who knows really. Could be anything. It was like watching a photo-negative sunflower reaction where he was just bemused byt hte darkness and signed a few things in response with fingers fast and loose. AH the liberty to being able to say a whole lot really quickly. His glance looked back to Byron and he hunched over the page, scribbled up the edge and slid it to him stabbing at it, perhaps a tad more emphatically than he meant to with a finger. Paige grins at Byron, then at the newest arrival. "Hey Veronica. And thanks. And yes, he's high. He was licking stuff in the hedge. Weird stuff. But c'mon in. Make yourself comfy, grab a beer or something if you want it. First round for everyone who was there last night is on me. Especially if they promise to never, /ever/ speak of it again," she says, giving Byron a feigned evil eye. She can't keep it up for long though before grinning. But then there's a knock at the door and her name called through it, and she sighs. "Dammit. And work calls. You guys enjoy the place though, okay? Hang out as long as you want," she says, quickly finishing her beer and getting to her feet. "See you guys later," she says, giving them all a grin as she slips out of the room. |
