Weaver had been gone all night, and that isn't too unusual. Even when the morning come he doesn't come around. While normal people might have cause to worry Velvet knows well enough that if he went out for this long it's for good reason. Maybe. He does come back by the next evening, though, with a furry friend in toe. Crimson, spikes, and far too big to be anything fun for a mortal to see. Sadly, this doesn't include Olivia with her most recent pledge. "C'mon," he calls to the beast. "I swear to you that the steaks I can order will be better than anything you got in those woods. Trust me." Olivia has more or less kept herself in a semi-buzzed state, keeping her liquor levels just high enough to keep her mellow without tipping completely into complete intoxication. She has an occasional question for Velvet, but generally, she's been fairly subdued and quiet. Still eating, still present, but... a bit stunned. The redhead comes out of the bedroom with an empty water bottle that was filled with liquid at some point, but is now empty. When she spots the spiked furry creature, she stops in her tracks and stares. "Uh. Huh," she says slowly. "So animals are a thing, too?" "Well, that's unexpected." Velvet was in the middle of making food for herself, Olivia, and the boy when Weaver comes striding up with the injured creature. "It's called a hedge beast. They're different, have abilities, and some can talk," she informs Olivia. "But to humans, they just look like whatever is closest to their kind. So he probably looks like a big ass dog to normal folks." She hears the comment about food and looks at the meat on the counter. "We can order in if you wanna give him this stuff?" she offers. Weaver looks up, ready to just back away and not explain a thing. "I can easily explain." This said more to Velvet than Olivia. "But he's gonna stay with us for a while and you may wanna hide your silk stuff. Just in case, ya know." He smiles, trying to put himself between the beast and the others. The beast, however, moves around Weaver to stare at Olivia, and Weaver moves his wing to block the hedge beast. Olivia's eyes flick over in Velvet's direction as the other woman offers the explanation, her brows rising a bit. "Can that one talk?" she asks, lifting one hand to point at the large... not-dog. When Weaver moves his wing to keep it between her and the beast, she just circles around to one side, aiming for Velvet. And food. "You have silk stuff?" "Most of my stuff is silk stuff, and I'm not going to hide it. He's going to not fuck with it." Glowing eyes turn to the hedgebeast, a single brow arching upwards. It's not a question, clearly. "But of course he can stay with us. What happened to his tail?" She grabs a plate and drops the steaks she was going to cook onto it, walking over to set the plate onto the floor and studies the creature. "Eat up," she tells him before rising and creating a barrier for Olivia is she needs it. "Most of my clothes are silk, yes. I have heightened senses, so a lot of fabrics tend to bother me. Silk doesn't." The beast growls when covered up, and moved around the obstacle of a leathery wing. The offering of steaks is sniffed, and it begins walking around the food to look at it. It eventually starts chowing down, and eating the steaks whole. "Doesn't take, and I'll, um, try to train him. I guess. I can't really say since I never had something like this to take care of." He crouches down, scratching the massive beast behind the ears. "Doesn't have a name. Also means I can't go around the hotel much since my mom /will/ kill me if I bring him around." "Good to know," Olivia says to Velvet at the mention of silks, nodding again. She unscrews the top from her water bottle, filling it with water as the beast eats his meal. "What should I know about... that?" She gestures towards the beast as he's eating, putting the top back on the bottle before raising it to her lips to drink slowly. "A name? Bob, Jim, Dave. Beastie. Red Rover. Fido. Stitch." "How about Cerberus? Guarding the gates of hell." Hell clearly meaning this adorable little house on the water. Velvet smirks. "Fido works too." Her eyes move to Olivia's bottle, studying it for a moment. "We've moved on to water, that's very good," she murmurs. It means she's starting to adapt to things. "We're going to have to have someone look at his tail. I wish there were more Springs around." "Good to know," Olivia says to Velvet at the mention of silks, nodding again. She unscrews the top from her water bottle, filling it with water as the beast eats his meal. "What should I know about... that?" She gestures towards the beast as he's eating, putting the top back on the bottle before raising it to her lips to drink slowly. "A name? Bob, Jim, Dave. Beastie. Red Rover. Fido. Stitch." The name Fido gets the beast's attention, and it nods to the woman. Weaver doesn't catch this. "Cerberus sounds really good, like-" Nope. The beast moves away from the scratching and bites Weaver's hand. "What the fuck do you want? Fido." It nods, and Weaver sighs. "Okay, Fido." This proves to be just what it wants, and it goes back to eating. "I don't really know any Springs, and I don't have any fruit myself. Can't really call in a favor for it either." Olivia peers over at Velvet. "Water just keeps the worst of the hangover at bay. I've been alternating," she says, pursing her lips slightly. "I do have to go buy more liquor, though. Maybe rum." A brow arches as the beast actually nods at her, and she blinks a few times before lifting the water bottle to her lips again. "Springs? Like on the bed? Unless you have like, a memory foam bed. And I can grab some apples or some shi..." Olivia trails off a bit, frowning. "And you're not talking about apples." "Looks like Fido is the answer you're looking for," Velvet offers as she slides into a chair at the island, legs crossing. "You know, at some point you're just killing your liver so that you don't have to deal with all of this," she points out. "I get it, but you need to be careful." She props her head up. "Spring as in the season of spring. The Changelings who are connected to it tend to have healing magics. Summers are fighty. Autumns like myself are more fear and spook based. Winter's are based in secrets and caution. Then there's Sun, Moon, Dusk, Dawn, etcetera." She rolls her hand at the wrist. "Hedgefruit grows in the Hedge and has different powers when you eat it. One or two of them can heal injuries to a certain extent." "Moon is what I am. We're about disgust and doing whatever we may at night." His chest puffs out with pride, shadows swelling up and around in him in ghastly display. "But that's so-me shit for a long day later, and when you're not drinking your ass off. SPeaking of, stop drinking so damned much. Because if you pass out drunk again I'm gonna start taking a Sharpie to your face. And it'll be magical sharpie so that shit won't just go away." "It's a shit tone of information. And there's way more than that. But I'm trying to give it to you in small chunks that you can chew on. Then I answer whatever questions come of it. Then more chunks are given. Eventually you'll understand, to a point," she assures softly. "Hopefully the understanding will help you be better able to keep from getting Taken yourself." That's Velvet's hope anyway. She watches Weaver's chest poke out, smirking. Olivia scoffs and waves one hand a bit at them both. "Please. I've spent years killing my liver. It's not dead yet. One, I AM dealing with it. It's booze or weed, and I don't have any weed, and SOMEONE told the dealers not to sell to me." A glare is shot in Weaver's direction. "Two, do you think I have no experience removing Sharpie from my face?" But still, she is drinking the water at the moment, the bottle about half empty now. She arches a brow at the shadows that deepen around Weaver's form, turning her focus instead back towards Velvet. "That is a lot of information." "Seriously, though. If I gotta get rid of all the booze in the house, and slash the tires." Weaver gets serious by the second, and glares at Olivia. "Because I really don't wanna drag you to the hospital again because of alcohol poisoning or some shit, and I really don't wanna owe another favor to Masters, again nor do I really wanna fucking explain shit to either of your parents of you drinking yourself half to death at my house." "I have two legs. I can walk," Olivia mutters, glaring right back at him. "And I don't want to go back to the hospital either. But being NOT buzzed is not a great option right now. Give me an alternative, and I'll consider it. And 'not drinking' is not an alternative." She huffs a bit and makes her way back around the kitchen, giving Fido his space. "I'm gonna go watch TV or something. Because y'all are weird." "You know, letting her smoke some weed will probably be a better choice than the drinking," Velvet points out softly. "Less damaging, less anger and frustration for her to deal with." She lifts her hands. "I'm just saying." In case he gets defensive. She watches Olivia go with a sigh. "So," she says, her eyes lifting towards Weaver. "Now we have a son and a hedgebeast, huh? Never thought you'd be the first one through the door with a new friend." Weaver growls as Olivia departs, the dog looking between the Utridges as Olivia leaves. "Weed, sure, shit. I have some in the glove compartment, but I ain't giving her a damn thing if she's gonna act like that." He stands up and crosses his arms as he looks to the door. "Please don't remind me because I keep having these freakouts in my head," he notes about the boy. "Buy a PlayStation and the kid will entertain himself!" Olivia calls back towards them. She may still be slightly intoxicated. "Act like this? Weaver, my love. Look at what she's just been exposed to. The fact that she didn't freak out and try to burn us both alive like witches is saying something. She's trying to handle it, she's doing it safely in the house... I think that's the best we can ask for given what we just did to her, opening her eyes like that." Velvet reaches out to touch his hand. "Yeah? Don't worry, you're not the only one freaking out. I'm just very good at hiding it." |
