2017.09.16

Dielle cooks dinner and invites people over to talk dreams.

Location

Aspire Arena apartment.

Dielle's been in the mood to cook today, which means there needs to be people around with big appetites to eat. She's invited Signe over, and told Tony to not go anywhere, she's in a feeding mood. It always helps to have Jon around, and she's gone rather all out because he hasn't been around, due to training camp and school and other reasons. Which means when everyone's here, there's a spread.

There's roasted chicken that she made over root vegetables and then used the juices as a glaze for the veg. There's mashed potatoes on the side, and garlicky green beans, and warmed up rolls with butter, and salad, because she wanted to make sure that both meat eaters and vegetarians (if there are any.) There's also a peach cobbler for dessert. And beer, wine and sweet tea and water.

Dielle even put on a by god skirt for the event, and a nice shirt, but she's barefoot and her hair's in a braid that goes down her back.

She puts out the last dish and calls out to Signe, Jon and Tony, "Dinner's on, come serve yourselves!"

Don't go anywhere because there will be food. Dielle has nothing to worry about with Tony leaving. He's not going anywhere. But he does get a nap. The guy emerges from his room rubbing his eyes and wearing a t-shirt and jeans. He ambles when he walks in confined areas so he's a bit slow. Spotting the spread, there's a sniff to the air and a grin. "You weren't kiddin." There's a wave to Signe before he yawns and heads to get some sweet tea first. No beer or cider for this guy. Yet.

Signe was a bit nervous about dinner. Mainly because she was low on sleep and she had a hellhound with her. Alocer didn't stay at home most times, but he was graciously asleep in the corner and out of the way. When Dielle mentions food being done there's a smile, "Thank you for cooking, Dielle. And thanks for inviting me over." she tells them.

Jon did not, in fact, put on a skirt for the event. Jon clearly doesn't appreciate company as much as Dielle does. Shame that. Big Blue looked at Tony and said withthe utmost seriousness, "We never joke about food. FOod at this table is for everything from Southern Hospitality, to spite by proxy, and sometimes weaponized warfare." There was a studious nod as he informed Signe, "Turns out wheat flour is not a 1:1 trade to regular flour. I think those cupcakes had the consistancy of concrete."

"Well, that's what you get for tryin' to be healthy without researching the science behind the baking. Baking's science, cooking's art, or so I keep hearin'. Anyway, thanks for comin' over Signe, it's a pleasure havin' you. What do you want to drink?" She's already pouring another sweet tea for herself, and very cold water for Jon. She's already messing with his diet witht his dinner, she won't tempt him with beer. He can do that for himself. She gestures for Signe to serve herself, and says, "Best get some before Jon digs in, we want to make sure y'all get fed."

Dielle may be a bit disappointed with the lack of skirt on Jon. Alas. She grins at the man, clearly happy to have him here.

Polk pours his cup of tea over ice and wanders over towards the table, smiling. "You sound like my dad, Jon," he laughs. "The man took food as serious as a heart attack. He was a big, burly guy and when you put food in front of him it was like placing it in front of a hungry dog. Try and take it away and you're liable to lose that whole arm." He takes a seat at the table and looks to Signe with a nod. "Yeah, what you said. Thank you for cookin' Daze. I definitely appreciate it. How're you doin, Signe? Got your text. That came up at court the other night, actually."

"Heya Tony." Signe says to Polk as she gets a bit closer, taking a plate and going about getting a little of this and a little of that. She wasn't going to eat like a bird. "How is camp and school going, Jon?" she asks him as she grabs a fork as well. Then there's a moment of grabbing a drink and heading for a seat. "It's all clear for Jon now." she chuckles to that.

Jon cracked a grin and laughed, "Shit, Tony, I'll stick a fork in ya and keep chewin, be careful." He leaned over and gave Dielle's shoulder a brief gnaw-on when she set the water down. Linguists would show this is proto-neandertal for 'gee, thank you, that was most thoughtful'. After washing the bite of food down and gave Signe a couple quick nods, "Actually went well. I ended up having to help out my old man while I was out there, but, it is what it is. Had some scouts at camp and first couple games are going real well. Just harder moving into harder classes at the same time people part of our tarting lineup. Ask Dee, I never see sleep. I'm like a reverse bear."

"That's not all he never sees," says Dielle wryly, but the bite gets a grin and a return shoulder bump. She gets herself a plateful and settles into her seat. "How are y'all doin'? And is anyone else having some weird-ass dreams?"

"I'll try to keep that in mind," Tony chuckles to Jon. He goes for the food and scoops out plenty of mashed potatoes and meat onto the plate. He's wary of the green beans, but eventually opts. Yes. Must try at least once. He plunks down into his seat and just digs in with gusto. Tony, Destroyer of Tater. No gravy needed. The mention of the dreams has him look up and over. "Yeah that's what I was just asking Signe about. What's goin' on? I did get pledged up, by the way. Did the last Summer crown court meeting. Crown asked me to talk to people and report back if there's something goin on with people I know."

Signe gives a look to Jon and there's a smile to him, "That's awesome, hopefully you'll hear some good things back about it." she tells him. Then there's a look to Dielle as she quips and there's a grin, but she doesn't say anything on it. Then there's the talk of dreams and she makes sure she's done chewing first, "I don't know what others are dreaming, but mine are just nightmares turned to 11. And I keep having weird ass dreams of playing games over and over...and if I lose something bad happens." she frowns. "And I've been sleep walking." she mutters.

Jon smiled genuinly to Signe, "Thanks. Kinda nervous as hell about it, but it is what it is." He didn't have any info on what the Sun Queen was up to and gave a shrug that said as much. He did pause when Dielle shoulder bumped him. "Deeee you're so violent. We got like guests and everything." The antognizing theatrics betwixt them seemed as natural as saying good morning with all the same care. He did stop, potato almost to maw. He blinked and looked at the table, "That's happening here too?"

"Yeah...shit, I didn't mean to miss Court. What happened during it? But yeah, as far as the dreams go, mine have been...weird. I mean, I'm setting out all the traps and everything, but I'm not catching anything yet. Mine are mostly about some kind of oily substance. I think it wants to eat me." She opens her mouth, closes it, then kinda winces, waiting for the near-inevitable joke that's gonna come from that.

Tony keeps eating and eyes flicker to Jon, then to Signe, then Dielle. "Am I the only one at this table not having weird dreams? I had a dream last night I was chasing my dog from when I was a kid, except it was like a metaphor for me looking for someplace to settle or something like that. Normal for me." He digs back in. "Yeah, I told the crown that I knew someone who was having some dream issues and that she had contacted someone who needed to be contacted.." He gestures the fork between Signe and Dielle. "I didn't mention any names. Apparently there's other people reporting it in the Freehold, too. Not exactly my specialty area. With what you're saying Signe, think this stuff with Dielle is related?"

Signe takes a few more bites as she listens to them talk and there's a bit of a look to Jon, Dielle and then Polk. A bit of a headshake, "Might be two different things...just poor timing...or perfect timing." she states quietly. "If one is focusing on just one source and all." she adds. Then there's a look to Dielle, "Black oil. Hmmm." she murmurs. "Nothing like that." she states. "I just know I don't want to sleep and I feel like when I do, something takes over. It's weird." she frowns.

Jon shook hsi head and got very quiet. He didn't offer out information but asked Dielle, "What's goin on with yours and, Tony, I get you, let's not eat the dog. Chewing on puppies is something even I have to say 'Dude' to." "So there' a panic compulsion, and some feeling of possession? Could explain the sleepwalking. Hate to be the douche of dour news, but maybe it //is//"

Dielle frowns as she listens to Signe, and chews on her lower lip a bit. "Jon always has weird dreams. So do I, that's just a fact of life. So, yeah, Tony, I think you're the only one /not/ having weird dreams. Signe, I can go into your dreams and try to take a look around, if you want. Easiest way would be a pledge, it means I don't have to drag Jon with me to go sleep in a hollow. I could give you a few traps to hang around your bed, see if we can catch something in them. Preferably not ravenous oilens." Someone's seen some old X-Files lately, it seems.

Tony watches Signe, nodding slowly. "So its very likely two different issues presenting at the same time. It is possible but unlikely they are related. Sound about right?" He frowns at the feeling of something taking over. "Like one of Them taking over? Repetitive games? Painful consequences for failure? I mean, that sounds like Arcadia." He eats a forkfull of meat and swallows, then, "You seeing any odd reflections? Catches shadows around the room? Feeling like you can feel someone in the same room with you even if you're alone?" Tony keeps it casual, thankfully. "Jon could be right, too, to be honest. Possession is a thing." Dielle gets a sideglance and chuckle, "Good. I'd like to keep it that way. I've caught that dream crap before. It isn't fun."

"I feel like demonic possession would be the better outcome to this situation." Signe chuckles nervously. "If I see any oil spots I'm going to run very fast though." she adds. Then there's a nod to Dielle, "Sure, I think that is a fair thing. I'll go with whichever one is easier on you. Don't want you getting targeted or anything." she admits. "I don't remember much of Arcadia. Just a lot of blood." she tells Polk as she looks over to him. Then there's a soft head shake, "No reflections or anything. I was thinking of going to stay at the family's apartment, but realized I don't need to add ghosts to this mess." she muses.

Jon wrinkled his nose, "Well who the hell has bloody dreams of Arcadia. That's... god that's worse than what I saw. I mean you get one good nightmare that throws off your sleep for years to come, sure, but at least mine wasn't wastefully visceral." He looked between them and went to say something, but his heavy brow furrowed and the Jotun's lips pursed together. This was not good.

Dielle says, quietly, "There's a /lot/ of things that get into dreams that aren't Gentry, though. Not everything IS them, although a lot of the bad shit out there does seem to originate with them. I couldn't catch one of Them in one of my bottles, but there's a hell of a lot that I can trap. Oneiropomps and such." She looks over at Jon and says, "Like the Pigeon Lady." She looks back at Tony and Signe and says, "We should get the Watchers involved, if it seems like a lot of people are having trouble."

Tony ghosts a smile, "Most of us don't remember Arcadia so no surprise there. I don't remember anything. I can feel aversions to things so I have ideas but.." He shakes his head. "I ask because I've spent a lot of time working in Freehold militias, investigating missing persons and kidnappings. Mostly I'm just eliminating possibilities." He waves a hand dismissively. No sense in causing panic. "Like Dielle is saying, there's a lot of possibilities. If its just your dreams then.." Then Dielle is definitely going to be more help. He shrugs, offering that to her. For possession, he grins, "I met someone who was possessed once. Apparently it can be pretty friggin awful, but isn't always. The lady I knew was actually pretty pleasant." He drinks some iced tea and looks over to Dielle again, oh by the way, who do I talk to about local militia work? I don't even know if there is one. I'm sorta making assumptions that there is."

"It's all just really weird...and really unnerving. I don't want to wake up over a dead body or something like that." Signe states with a bit of a sober look. "Do we want to try traps first and go from there?" she offers to Dielle. Then there's a curious look between Dielle and Jon, "Pigeon Lady?" she asks. Maybe she didn't need to know?! Then there's a look to Polk and a bit of a smile, "That makes me feel better." she muses. "As for Freehold militia, think you're looking for the Harvestmen." she tells Polk. Then back to Dielle, "Yeah, the Watchers might need to know since it's becoming wide spread." she agrees.
