A clumsy cousin visit
Participants

Oberon and June

9 September, 2017

June pays a visit to the family's mannor and finds Oberon practicing with his violin and they end up having a little chat about family and business oportunities.

Location

Desrochers' Mannor

The weatherman was correct this time and the day is very cloud and a little bit colder than the last few weeks. That makes most people to avoid getting outside, specially when your family mannor is so cozy and inviting like the Desrocher's. The living room already has its fireplace lit and warm and, by its side, one of the young man of the family is standing still playing a violin. The music that comes out of it is a pop music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGA8mbNHwJc). It sounds comes so perfect and so beautifully (Enchanting Performance 4) that time itself looks to had stopped to listen to the music. The man itself, though, is a whole other inhuman creature. An elf with bright long hair set in a very viking style in tight pants and a loose black sweater. His feet are bare and his eyes, closed.

June doesn't mind the cold very much, it comes with being covered in fur that most of the family can't see, but what she loves is spending time around her people. Since she has a lot of family around that means she's got a lot of people, and a good place to go spend time with them is by stopping by the family manor. She sheds her jacket when she comes inside and hangs it by the door, then lifts a foot to try to tug off one of her sneakers. In the process she tumbles over, landing on her butt in the hall with a thump, but it's just matter of course in June's life and she keeps pulling of her shoes to leave by the door. A few seconds later she's on her feet again, dignity in its usual tatters, and she follows the sound of the violin into the living room. When she gets there she stands in the door and watches Oberon play with a look of wonder that would probably make people want to cuddle the crap out of her if they weren't too busy listening to the music (or performing it).

Eventually, the music comes to its end and Oberon lowers his violin while turning around. Upon seeing that there is someone else listening to him, he blushes lightly and offers the new face a shy smile."Hi." He says as he heads to an arm chair nearby."If I noticed you were there, I would play a better music." He comments a second later.

June's already wide eyes grow wider at that and she lets out a barely audible "wow". Then she starts, like she realized she zoned out a bit, and she claps her hands together, although the paff more than clap since her palms are mostly covered in fur like the rest of her. And tipped with claws. "That was amazing already! If you play better music you're probably going to ruin music for me. I didn't want to interrupt!"

Oberon grins."That's okay. I usually play better when I know there is someone listening." He says looking still a bit shy but gesturing to the other Lost to get further into the room and pick a seat somewhere."It fits you. All this fur and cuteness. I always though you were cute, by the way. Even when we were outside in the middle of summer playing in the rain and in the mud." He then chuckles as his childhood memories come back to his mind.

"Well, I liked listening," June says with a big grin. "I've never been much good at music. I can sing along alright, but if I try to stand on my own it's kind of sad. I'm jealous, since I love music!" She scuffs a socked foot and glances down when he starts complimenting her, and is probably blushing under the fur (or to anyone that sees her Mask), but she laughs too, then leans against the door frame. "My mom used to get so mad about all the mud!" June has always been rather outdoorsy.

"I know, right? I still remember you and Kerrigan being forced to be inside while all the boys were playing in the woods in imaginary adventures." He comments but part of his happyness dispels when he brings up the name of his sister that mysteriously passed away a few months ago. A thing in the Hedge. But to the family, still a mystery."How are you doing now? It was a long time since the last time we saw each other."

There's a flicker of relief on June's face when he confirms what she hadn't asked; they haven't run into each other recently, and she didn't completely space out on it. It's a short lived relief, since it comes on the tail of a more overwhelming anger abouut what happened to Oberon's sister. Her soft black nose twitches and she makes a soft, disgruntled noise. "I'm sorry," she says then, like it's somehow her fault, even though she wasn't involved. Like she should have been able to do something about it. Then she moves, coming across the room to put her arms around him in a hug. She leaves answering the question about how she's doing until after.

Oberon hugs the panda. His hug is warm and very cozy and smells of fresh flowers."I'm sorry too. She was patrolling the Trod. I couldn't do anything for her. I wasn't there for her. My little sister." He murmurs. His voice carrying a lot of pain still. She was the only girl of 7 kids and was treated like a princess doll by his 6 brothers."It broke my soul. I became depressed. But I'm better now. And I promised myself this is not going to happen again. I'm going to learn how to fight and protect you all." He confess. One warm tear can be seen dropping from his jaw at this point as he doesn't let the other Lost go off of his embrance. Not yet, at least.

June is warm and fuzzy, as well as tiny, but gentle despite her surprising strength. The warm part is aided by the Summer mantle that surrounds her. She seems intent on hugging him like she can wrap him up in it completely, even though she quite possibly doesn't even come up to his chest. "I support learning how to fight, but we can protect each other. I don't plan to let anyone hurt any more of us."

"Thanks." Oberon murmurs before finally letting the petit red panda go. He then cleans he face and offers his cousin a thin smile."I can feel your Summer mantle. Do you have any fighting abilities that you could teach me, cousin?" He asks with a bit of a doubt on his green eyes.

June steps back when she's let go and nearly trips on her own feet, but she keeps herself from falling over by reaching out to grab Oberon's arm. She gives him an embarassed smile, which really ends up being painfully cute, and she replies, "yup! I'm pretty good with a sword." Even if her with a sword is probably a terrifying idea considering she can barely manage to walk for an hour without falling on her face sometimes.

Oberon helps his little cousin and doesn't mind doing so as if he is already used to it."You could give me some classes, then. I'm also pondering on helping more with the family business. Specially now that aunt Celine is getting tired and needing help with the pub." He says as he takes his seat back before taking a look at his cousin to be sure she's not going to do some disaster soon.

June goes to take a seat too, and she manages to get into one without doing anything embarrassing. She reaches up to give the top of her head a quick scratch with a couple of fingertips and agrees, "I'd be happy to! A sword and shield is my thing. I've got a nice hedgespun shield, even. A friend of mine made it out of a giant lizard I killed." The idea of her killing things might be a little jarring, and she sounds so cheerful about it! "Oh, I learned to make mead this summer. Did I tell you that already? I thought about saying it earlier, but I can't remember if I actually did." Since she's in a family with a bunch of brewers, and she's a beekeeper, it was probably only a matter of time.

Oberon listen carefully about the adventures and capabilities of the little panda with one of his eyebrows in a mid arch and looks surprised when she talks about the mead."No. You didn't tell me that. Sound pretty cool. We could put it on sale in the pub too. Along with our beer. What do you think about that?"

"Oh, good, I'm not repeating myself again," says June with a light laughter. "I can never remember. I'd love it if we could sell it at the pub, but I don't know if it's really that good. I only just learned, and I'm not the best at that kind of thing." She doesn't seem to be bothered by that, or fishing for compliments, she just isn't confident that she's going to live up to her more famous cousins.

Oberon listens and ponders for a second, bitting his lower lip as he used to do when they were all children. Specially when he was about to come up with a plan that would put them all grounded for a whole week."Why don't we produce a few bottles and then invite the family to a little party so everyone can taste your mead? What do you think?"

"I don't know about that much fuss. Maybe I'll just bring a few the next time we have a family gathering. Like Thanksgiving!" June suggests, evidently not super confident in her capabilities when it comes to the art of fermentation.

"Aw. I don't want to wait until Thanksgiving, cousin. Please bring one to me. I'll tell anyone! I promisse." He says making a puppy face."I just want to taste it."

"I don't mind letting you try! That's totally okay. Maybe you can tell me what you think, before I worry about making a big deal with the rest of the family." June waves her hands, mostly just worried that it'll turn out that her work isn't very good and she might trouble the family for nothing. "I've got a couple of bottles at home, though. You should come over tomorroow. No! I thtink I have something going on tomorrow. Monday. Maybe. I'll have to check my calendar."

Oberon grins at that little confusion."Let me know when you're avaliable so I can catch you. But you can always leave a bottle here to me if you prefer. Or by my room's door upstairs. If one of the other boys don't get it first, I mean."

"Perfect! I'll do one of those things," June says, hopping up to her feet. When she does, she bumps the armchair she was sitting in, which knocks it into the end table, which makes the lamp tip off onto the chair. Fortunately nothing breaks, but she's suddenly scrambling to try to catch the lamp, get it upright, and make sure while letting out a yelped, "woops! Hah, who put that so close to the edge. Good thing it fell on the chair instead of the floor! I should get going, though. I was just stopping by because I hadn't seen any of the family in a couple of days."

Oberon nods a bit worried."Alright. Let me know if you need anything. You still remember I'm good at fixing thing, right? Call me." He says before standing up and scouting his cousing outside and landing a kiss on her forehead before she leaves.

June takes a moment getting her shoes back on the door, which she thankfully just sits on the ground to do because otherwise she's likely to crack her head open falling down or something. Then she heads out the door, forgetting her jacket where it's hanging, and when they're outside she gives Oberon another hug. "I'll remember that. Same to you. If anyone's giving you trouble and you need someome to make them stop or something, just just let me know!" Then she heads off to her car. Hopefully she's better at driving than walking, since she stumbles on a crack in the pavement and almost trips on her way.
