Description

MasterofTeemingStreets.jpg
The Illustrious Master roams the streets of the Midnight Market with his entourage of entertainers and thugs, never remaining in any one place for very long, in constant motion in the way that the streets are also in constant motion. He is carried about on a platform teeming with brilliant hued flowers, delicious delicacies, and lovely entertainers, pulled by fantastical horses a combination of horse and dragon, with flaming eyes and long forked tongues. He became active during the time of the gold rush when immigrants making their way east settled in New England.

Realm - The Midnight Market

The Midnight Market is a cacophony of activity, plunged into eternal night. Lit by brilliant lanterns and festooned with exotic blossoms, an enormous maze of buildings create the labyrinth of the teeming streets. Houses which maintain the headquarters of various gangs that roam the constantly changing borders of their territories defend and attack one another with alarming frequency. Riotous street parades with crackling firecrackers, floats, and dancing dragons spring up spontaneously and move through the city. Shops bustling with anything that one might imagine from exotic delicacies and brilliant fabrics to strange animals and weapons of war are stacked up on top of one another. From brothels and bars, to gaming houses and tranquil gardens tucked away in all corners, there is no end to the activity and the chaos of the Midnight Market.

Methodology

The Illustrious Master is constantly looking to fill his realm entirely indiscriminately. Every so often he looks for groups to take, those who might create a particularly violent gang, provide a particular sort of entertainment, make refreshments, or possess particular skills lacking in the market. More often than not, however, he simply sends bands of Loyalists out to collect any who they might sucker into going with them. They are usually kidnapped roaming too close to the Hedge, or taken from those who might find themselves stumbling home from a drunken bar brawl only to awake in a far more impressive one.

His is a love of passion, anger, violence, and beauty combined -- where none are truly the hero and none are truly the villain. He fashions his creations for all the thrill of an action movie with magic, mayhem, romance, and intrigue. Almost any sort of creation might come out of the Market, but it is guaranteed that their durance would be one of chaos, danger, and color. There are few reserved flowers who survive the Midnight Market.

  • Darkling - All manner of Darklings find their homes in the dark and narrow alleyways and the myriad shops of the Midnight Market.
  • Elemental - Almost every element is represented, with a tendency toward the aspects common to folklore.
