EW06 - Wilderness - Mount Mischance - Summit Trail
Ascending from the land outside the mine, the summit trail is a rocky, two hour-long hike through alternately bare and forested terrain, though trees begin to peter out toward the summit. In much better repair than the mine road, the steady climb is relatively free of challenges -- unless one wants to take short-cuts. At three separate points, cliffs provide the opportunity along the gradual switchback, cutting straight up through what would otherwise be a far shorter climb.
At several points, thin trails split off to forge their own way up, more challenging than the main path, but the hoofprints on the road explain why these steeper paths remain a side issue.
A radio tower can be glimpsed above the final ridge, high above, set on the old fire tower.
