ER10 - East Bank - Slippery Trail

Where Maple Hill to the north is relatively sleek beneath its healthy blanket of soil and greenery, the trail between it and the waterfall overlook is a slight, unfriendly bugger of a thing. And bald. Its stones are slanted at particularly inconvenient angles, slippery and prone to become more so as the seasons progress, be it from growing slime and moss or frost. Broken arms are not outside the realm of possibility, and neither are illicit parties, beer bottles and the occasional wind-blown heap of rubbish caught amidst the thready shrubberies which cling to each and every crack and crevice roots can fit between.

Nearer the thunder of the falls, the trail ascends more sharply, following a narrow switchback up the face of a crumbling stone cliff between at times alarmingly loose boulders. Certain sections of the cliff seem oh so temptingly climbable, but the constant damp makes the reliability of friction on said stone a questionable topic. The river is partially screened by greenery, its rapid, foaming flow a danger to any who set foot in it.
