ER09 - East Bank - Maple Hill
While the southern slopes of Mischance Mountain slough their way through many hills, Maple Hill is the largest by far, home to a quietly industrious family business devoted to harvesting maple sugar from the carefully tended forest of tapped trees. From the looks of it, an absolute minimum of trees were cut to make room for the syrup shacks and outbuildings, a few modest cabins providing privacy for individual family members. The settlement sprawls over the hilltop in a straggling line, never too far from the road.
The thunder of the waterfall is a constant background drone, and one which the well-tended road gently curls down the far side of the hill to approach. Trees block visibility too well to catch any glimpses of more than the occasional fog of mist rising on chilly days.
