Velvet goes back to check on the sisters grimm, and investigates what she can. Part of The Church in the Wild

Location

Suburban Sprawl

The drive all the back to Brunsett isn't terribly long at half an hour, and by now any trace of the day is long gone. From the usual place in the human marketside leads to the hedge. From there it's relatively a straight shot of following her way back to where she left the bodies. The door to that house has been pushed open, and the smell of death still reeks with just the faintest huff of the cool air.

As soon as she came in through the Hedge, Velvet slipped into Smoke, shrouding herself from sight as she began making her way back towards where she left the twins pinned to the wall with their bodies in a couple different pieces. A gun is held in one hand, the other free as she makes her way there. She spies the open door with narrowed eyes, starting to creep her way closer. She's careful of springing tracks, making sure to watch her steps as she moves into the room, silent.

There were already trails of blood on the floor, and it's difficult to tell which is new and which is old from just a glance. Further the sisters are no longer hanging up. At least not completely. The one put up by her needle has been ripped down and much of her body torn to pieces. The other has her arm still pinned to the wall under the weight of her knife while her body barely hangs by snippets of flesh. Just as the other her insides have been opened up along with torn flesh along their thighs and faces.

It does appear for the time being that Velvet is alone. The meat from the twins, however stringy, had been picked as clean as it would be by the surrounding denizens. Closer inspection betrays the culprits to be a pack of briarwolves, likely uncaring for the meat beyond a light snack. It just wasn't the same without the fear. It looks like the hobs got in there only a few hours after Velvet's departure.

Careful steps are taken into the building, moving around as quietly as she can as she studies the pair of bodies and the differences between how they were left and how they are now. Her eyes flicker over the marks. She smirks, straightening as she stares at the one body stilled pinned to the wall. Guess nobody cared enough to check in on them. Once she's sure that she's alone, Velvet pries out the blade so that the one twin can slide down onto the floor. That'll make it easier for hacking up their bodies later to bring the pieces to Ryan. She steps over the bodies and around, checking for signs of a brand.

Velvet's searching isn't easy at first. There's nothing initially seen, and after a few seconds she has to cut through clothing. Eventually she finds one such thing. One the ass cheek of one twin - a half circle that's empty as a thick, blocky line goes through it. The other half is that of wide, blocky rays that give it the appearance of the sun. The other takes a bit more search, and there isn't much in the way of burn scar tissue to find. However, as she moves around and examines the bodies she can make out the impressions of a similar symbol on a bit of hanging flesh from the other's torso.

Poking and prodding, she doesn't seem to have any issue getting in close enough to see the mark. Velvet finds the mark on the sister a few moments later and her suspisions are confirmed. Atleast now she knows what to look out for. But it's still not time to take apart the bodies. Now it's time to rifle through their stuff and see what they might have had with them or on them that might lead her to the others.

It takes a long bit of searching to find the sisters' belongings. On first glance it'd appear as if they hadn't brought too much. Maybe they lived there? There was a bed. A place to store meat of an unknown variety, although checking in those pickling jars just tells Velvet that its something biological maybe. It takes a bit of searching in the main living room before she can find what looks like several floor boards not of the same make as the rest of the house. However, tapping on them reveals them to be nailed down.

Velvet had assumed that the house was a random one, but it looks like it might have been theirs all along. Given their behavior, she's guessing that whatever meat might be in those pickling jars is not a meat she's going to want to try anytime soon. There's a hollow creak from a floorboard, her eyes darting down. She steps, then steps again just to make sure that she was correct. Something certainly isn't right. The gun is put away and a knife pulled out instead as she kneels down. It takes a couple of moments for her to manage, but eventually she hears that solid 'pop' of the wood dislocating before she pries it up.

With that pop the floorboard comes loose. The stuff is purple and black - painted over on top with the same dead green to look like the rest of the floor. Inside she can find several pieces of paper, but the language isn't anything normal. It honestly doesn't look anything human either. It's full of circles and triangles with the primary differences in characters coming from lines that go through vertically, horizontally, or diagonally one or two at a time. Each piece of paper bears a symbol on the top - the exact same one as the brand found on the sisters. Beyond all of that are three maps. One of the local trods. Another is a map of Fort Brunsett. The last is a map with odd, circling features that looks more like a blueprint than a specific location.

Velvet takes her time digging through the paperwork, eyes narrowing as she looks over the indecipherable scribbles. Maybe there's an Autumn somewhere that's really good with figuring out languages? Or some sort of contract or tricket that will help figure it out. She studies each of the papers, committing it all to that perfect memory before she wraps the papers together and stuffs them into a pouch at her side. The floor board is replaced just where it was before Velvet's attention turns back towards the women. The knife is flipped in her hand as she starts to make her way over. Time to start hacking.
