Zombaissance Faire
Brdr-Lance.png

Zombies have invaded the tourney! For the two weeks leading up to Halloween, all Houses are united in their battle against the apocalyptic zombie Horde.

In addition to the traditional peasant and Noble packages, guests will have the opportunity to dress up and do battle as members of The Horde, with face painters, costumers and various festival booths and challenges scattered throughout the grounds.

Opening Event
The Shuffling of the Zombs
Everyone knows being a run-of-the-mill zombified corpse does terrible things for your ability to, you know, move easily, wield things with great dexterity, avoid craving the delectable squishy jiggly brain-filling inside your neighbour's skull...

For the evening's opening event, we invite all of our noble Houses and their zombified foes to parade the field in full panoply, with the brightly-coloured heraldic glory followed by the dark and gory inevitability of undead doooooom.

Note:  Zombie Lords (knights) who intend to joust, as opposed to simply riding and intimidating foes with their majestic awfulness, must receive certification via the standard 'Knight' lessons to ensure the safety of both rider and mount. Rising Sun Tourneys takes the safety of both patrons and steeds very seriously. It's all fun and games until somebody takes an arrow to the knee.

On-Going Events & Booths
Face Painting / Zombifying

Look like an authentic fantasy zombie! Ever wanted your flesh to rot off in jiggly blood-soaked gobbets? Feel like having broken, splintered bones sticking out of your undead flesh? Never fear! Our talented cosmetic and costume prosthetics artists will get you ready for your big shuffle across the field of gory. Pardon. Glory.

Ordinary living-person clothes will be kept in lockers to which you (and staff, in case of loss) have the key.

Escape the Maze

Bales of horse feed have been stacked and arranged, visible in the distance even from Tamarack Road, into a dark and spooky maze full of sneaky hide-aways for zombies to lurk and ambush prey. Can you escape the maze unscathed?

Zombies get special chalk-impregnated gloves. Their goal is to leave hand prints on prey. Three prints and the prey is dead.
Dead prey must raise one arm to signify their status as deceased, and walk out of the maze.
Zombies may only touch the living on the torso, arm/hand or leg/foot.
Living patrons who escape without a single print receive a voucher for a free riding lesson.

Jousting

Noble Knights and Dames in service to the Houses of Thislandia face off against the Zombie Lords! Patrons may choose either side, and staff will provide a suitable opponent if patrons are not jousting against one another.

Each member of the winning side is given a voucher for free meals, which they may spend at any time during the festival.

Melee

Knights and peasants afoot face off against the shuffling Zombie Horde! Weaponry is chalk-impregnated foam. Three hits and you are dead. All hits must be to the torso, arm or leg. Hits to the head, hands and feet will not count. If the wardens see players repeatedly striking in these zones, they will be disqualified and asked to leave the field.

All living participants are given two black scarves. If a living participant is 'killed', they become a zombie on the spot. They must tie their scarves to their upper arms, then join the Horde to kill their former comrades-in-arms!

Each member of the winning side is given a voucher for free meals, which they may spend at any time during the festival.
