Weaver and Velvet go back to Red Clover to recover a few of the former's things, and come across Weaver's recently returning aunt.

Location

Red Clover Hotel

> Weaver (#1642) (W) < He'd already moved out of the hotel proper, and it looked like it might stick this time. He was getting a few things, chatting with the employees he'd gotten to know. Mostly those that'd let him aget away with murder. For now, he's talking to one of the cleaners, and discussing where a certain ledger and black book he had might've been moved to. Apparently someone got ahead of themselves, and ordered his room cleaned out asap when it he was done moving.

Dani steps out of one of the closets devoted to cleaning supplies, though at least in this wing it's not quite so trafficked as it might be elsewhere in the hotel... perhaps it's linens, actually, but regardless, she steps out into the hall, her hair a bit frazzled. She's clad in less than her typical finery, with cut off jeans and tee adorned in little thorny patterns here and there. More curiously, she's carrying a machete, a machete which quickly gets slipped behind her back as she spots the others in the hall. Probably quickly enough to avoid notice by the staff, but anything more is harder to say...

Things are settling down(ish) at the Lodge, so Velvet has decided to go with Weaver in his hopes to reclaim the rest of this things. If all else fails, she can atleast help him try to track everything down the hard way. The woman is dressed in her usual silk top and skirt, unbelievable dagger heels on her feet, holding the collar to the pup from hell. Well, to anyone else it's just a cute puppy, to the Lost, not so much. She's quiet as she lingers nearby, murmuring to the dog as she strokes his head.

Weaver grouses when teh answer he gets is to the negative, and the growl rumbling at his throat as the worker sighing. The dragon looked like he was gonna start yelling, but then he catches sight of Dani. He may have briefly remembered his aunt, but the younger satyr draws more of his curiousity. The worker breathes a sigh of relief, and hastily darts off down the hallway as Weaver approaches. For the ogre it's just a tanktop for his wings to move freely, jeans, and sneakers. "Please tell me you didn't just come from the jungle..."

"Welll, in a manner of speaking..." Dani shrugs and smiles as the staff member disappears, and with that she brings the grass-stained machete up to lay the blunt edge back against her shoulder. "Just some light gardening, really," a pause, picking up on the lack of recognition, "I'm Dani, but I'm not sure I remember you...?" And as Velvet steps into the hall her eyes sweep to include the other in the statement.

"You need to learn how to use those pretty eyes to get people to do what you want, rather than that little growl. You just scared him off," Velvet chuckles. She strides up behind Weaver, glowing lavender eyes moving towards the unfamiliar Lost woman that he approaches. "We've never met," she assures for her part.

"Wait. What!?" Weaver turns around to see the man's back just as he darts down the stairs. The rush of smoke from his mouth and nose covers much of his face as he yells, "God fucking damn it!" Weaver turns bac kto Dani, gaze narrowed as he looks her over for a few seconds longer. "The fuck. Aunt Dani?" He leans forward, staring harder at the beast. "Aunt Dani? Aren't you older!?" Then he clears his throat, anger fall but forgetten as he takes a step back to lift an arm in Velvet's direction. "Um, Dani, this is Velvet, my wife. Velvet, this is Dani, my aunt. And I'm just confused as fucking shit right now."

Dani takes a turn to look confused for a time with Weaver's reaction, tilting her head, "Older- oh! I've had more time to get used to it than others I guess... Not used to meeting folks who knew me back when." Her free hand reaches up to finger through the hair around one of her horns, "But ya got me, anyway," she stills seems in that awkward moment, trying to assign a name to a face she might have known as a child... and a child that didn't look draconic or ogreish at all, at that.

Velvet brightens for a moment when Weaver introduces her as his wife. It's the first real time he's done that so she just soaks it all in. "Pleasure," the woman rumbles with a nod in Dani's direction. "Seems like your family has a nasty habit of getting Taken. Might want to see if you have a loyalist somewhere in the ranks." A small caution, made in earnest as she lets the two try to piece together bits of old memory.

"Weaver," he's quick to add. Almost shy for him as he rubs at the back of his neck. "I'm used to everyone in the family seeing the mask." He drops his hands, takes a deep breath, and shtrouds away all that power and Wyrd in the humanity of his mask. He smiles, weakly so as he takes a step back. "I don't know if it's as simple as a loyalist. We're not always taken by the same thing. I know Ben and I are taken by the Borrower, but we don't know anyone else that might've been too."

It still takes Dani a moment, with the age and her own years, but soon enough she slips the machete off her shoulder and drops it onto the floor, a couple quick steps bringing her close in a sort of lunge turned hug, "That's it!" she chimes merrily, dropping back with a grin after a few moments tight squeeze. Velvet gets a grin and a shrug, "Don't know a borrower, myself," and while she doesn't add as much, it doesn't sound like she's all that inclined to worry over it.

Eyes flicker to Weaver as the Mask goes up, her lips twisting at their edges. "Still hot," she murmurs, having only seen the mask a time or two. But either mask or mein, she's pleased enough with the results. She goes back to idly stroking Fido's head as she considers. "Maybe just bad luck, then? Or just powerful Lost attracting attention and drawing folks here. I don't know."

Weaver doesn't get shy often, let alone embarrased. When Dani hugs him he may as well turn red, but he does return the hug with a tight squeeze of his own. He shakes himself then, shattering away the mask as quickly as it appearaed. "Dani has the right idea. One of those things it's just best not to think about it. The implications aren't worth the potentially insanity." He smiles, wide. "So we'll burn that bridgge when we get to it, but that's for later. How've you been? What're you up to? Why in the fuck do you have a machete?" With her moving out west and his own departure he'll likely have enough questions to fill the entire night if someone doesn't stop him.

"Uhhh, I already told you about the machete. Gardening." Dani stoops down and scoops up the worn tool. "Gardening can be dangerous work, you know," she adds, deadpan, entirely casual. "I'm actually dead, though I guess news travels slow," she finally decides upon, nodding and flashing a quick grin to Velvet, "As I think about it, by that standard I must still be in good shape." She waves the machete just a bit, "But really, it's ridiculously complicated, and I'm not sure of some of the details myself."

"I'm technically dead too. Welcome to the dead hotties club. There's no secret handshake though. Alas." Velvet smirks a little in Dani's direction, a brow arching as the woman mentions gardening being dangerous work as an excuse for the machete. "Does anyone really need a reason to carry a machete around," she wonders. "Considering." After all, how many weapons might she be hiding herself?

"Not all of us have weapons, Vee." Says the man with razor sharp teeth and claws. Weaver then nods. "Okay, I never really took gardening for something that intense." He shrugs, clearly he's been doing gardening wrong all this time. "I don't really know if you're still around. I just don't ever forget family. Ever. That's beside the point. What're you doing back in town?"

"A lot of it has just been getting along, but I like to think I've moved a long ways up from merely surviving," Dani replies, then pauses, "Honestly, I probably shouldn't bore you with all the details right now, but soon?" a small shrug, "I really never felt very dead, but the short of it is getting a change of scenery and finding somewhere to remain useful all the same." The faun smiles, "I suppose you've not fallen so far from the tree."

"You are a walking weapon, my love. You don't have to carry them around," Velvet points out with a little flutter of her long lashes. But she'll let the family unite a little it more, going quiet as they catch up. She veers away from the pair to bee-line for the worker to see if she can sweet talk some information out of him about Weaver's ledger.

Weaver sighs at Velvet's remark, but he doesn't deny it in the slightest. "It's probably for the best if you don't bore me. It's been a long, rought few days. And you're not wrong. Mostly. I do help the family, but have to have my own kinda fun every now and again." He chuckles, turning to Velvet. "Isn't that right, Velvet? Velvet?" The darkling's gone, and he shrugs. "I never really get used to that."

Velvet has to go for a good bit to find the hotel employee. He's left the family wing, and from there departed down the stairs. From what Velvet can remember the employee lounge is somewhere on the west side of the building, but the man's scenet goes further south and leads to one of the many utility closets in the hotel.

Dani follows Weaver's searching glance towards where Velvet has wandered off, and there's another small shrug and smile. "Don't we all? I even sold pot for a while for fun, for the experience, really." Then a small pursing of her lips as she studies Weaver, "You... break things, I suppose?" though it's unclear if she means that in response to the bit about fun or not.

Nope, Velvet is vanished. For heels like she was wearing, she was increadibly quiet when she needed to be. The woman follows the scent pretty easily, tracing her way through the building, further south until she finds herself outside of a utility closet. Her head tilts as she considers it. Her hand wraps around the handle, very slowly twisting it to make sure there isn't noise, then she jerks it open quickly, prepared to catch someone in the act of something. It's been that kind of week.

"Break shit? Oh no. That's just so..." Weaver's voice trails off for a beat, and he finishes, "..savage." He shakes his head at the notion, and clasps his hands behind his back. "For the family and everybody else that has to look I host the events we host. Charity, public relations, or simple parties that make us look good. The reality and the truth of it is that I take what I need when the mood suits me."

There's no frantic movement or anything at all to be heard loudly from the closet. The only sound that eventually echoes is a groaned, "C'mon!" As the door is flung open she catches sight of the man from before, cell phone in hand. He stops his typing, and lifts up a hand. "It's not what it looks like!"

The faun seems briefly thoughtful at Weaver's description, as if trying to decide whether stealing things is more or less morally dubious than breaking them, but it's all a purely academic concern. "I should probably be back to that gardening," she shoulders the machete once more, "But I'll be around, and we can talk more about what I've been about these last few years. The short of it involves patching up a lot of folks who break stuff. Sometimes folks who steal stuff," she adds with a smile.

"Really? Because it looks like you know exactly where my husband's things are, you realized he's getting pissed at them being kept from him and you're either trying to get them back from someone, or warning them." Her eyes move to the phone to zoom on one what he's been typing. Her hand reaches out for the phone as well, giving him an option to set it in her hand. "Believe me when I tell you that he's the nicer than I am. You have one chance to tell me what's going on. The truth. I'll be nicer if you do.

Weaver was all smiles until Dani's last statement. The facade cracks ever so briefly before he nods. "Of course, of course. I'd also love to hear some gardening tips, too. Velvet and I are starting up our own, and trying to see how this'll go. This is my first one and any kinda help would be appreciated."

The man hesitates. The phone is held close to his chest for a moment. Eventually, he concedes, and hands over hte phone to Velvet. He was texting someone named Eisendrach. 'He is here. He is looking for books. WHAT DO???' The man pleads, "Look, it's not as bad as it looks. I promise it isn't anything major or that bad."

It's unclear if Dani notices the flash of thought or not, but regardless, she's already turning about, "No problem, just hunt me down. I tend to roam a bit, but almost always make it back home... eventually." And with a small smile, she wanders off towards, presumably, the room she's claimed.

Velvet memorizes the number as well as the name. She takes out her own phone to send the information to her hacker contact so that she can get information on who this Eisendrach is. She screenshots with her phone after that before checking the other conversations the man has been having. Never can be too careful. "One, I want those books back, and I want them back immediately. Two, I want you to explain to me exactly what's going on."

Still wearing that toothy smile, Weaver nods in agreement. "Of course. I'm not the best at hunting, but Velvet sure enough is." He waves goodbye to Dani as she departs, and he leans against the wall. He pets the mastiff of a hedge beast at his side, and wondering aloud, "I wonder what happened to your family, boy."

"I, um, don't have them anymore. I gave them to Mr. Sternritter when Mr. Utridge was leaving. He said it was just for a prank. Nothing major or anything bad." The texts, somewhat, confirm this. "He paid me to get them, and that's all. I swear." The proposition being that it really is a prank, and that it's just ribbing between two old friends.

"Do not ever, EVER give out anything that belongs to this family or their friends unless you have their express permission, you idiot. That is quite major. And you are either very stupid, or you think I am. Which is it?" Velvet's tone growls out as she takes a step closer. "I'm keeping the phone, I will handle this situation. You will say nothing further to Mr. Sternritter about the situation. Have I made myself clear?" Velvet sends out another text, informing Weaver about exactly what happened to his books. Along with a 'I'll take care of it, love you' text. Then she's storming from the building.
