There was a message delivered, by Whisperwisp. The voice came on the winds, a whisper in the air. It asked Void to travel to the docks in FB, and meet a young man there. The man was terrified, but he took Void on a boat ride into the lake, to a little island in the shape of a cresent. Inside the small sheltered area a little cottage rests, and it is there that Lux is seen, sitting at a table in the early evening. A teapot has just whistled as the boat pulls up, and Lux adjusts the settings, leaving the pot on the hot plate for the moment. Her wyrd is tightly controlled, the pool of light small at her feet and the bits of light smoke like smooth glass. She is a short walk away from the where the boat docks, and the young man looks even more terrified of her than he does of Void (Which is to say, he barely moves or talks at all).
Lux obviously hears the boat approach, but for the moment just sits with hands in her lap, facing the setting sun.
The young man's terror is unsurprisingly missed by Void. At this age and power it's mostly expected. However, he does offer the man an odd, if friendly smile. When he eventually steps foot upon the island it's with a curious glance to the cottage. Lux eventually gets the darkling's attention, although she loses it as quickly when the teapot begins wailing. Then he looks back to her, bowing his head in brief greeting. "I heard that you needed to speak with me about something."
GAME: Lux spends 1 Willpower with reason: taboo
Lux smiles broadly, ruby lips and emerald eyes giving as little warmth as is physically possible - its a mask, but they all wear them. She stands slowly, offers the barest of curstsies - just a crossing of ankles and a small dip. She offers to the chair across from her with a single outstretched hand. "Yes. Please, join me. Void, or perhas The Void, correct?" She asks as she settles back into her own chair, pouring a pair of teacups with hot steaming water. "Sugar? Cream?" she asks, and provides if requested before continuing.
"A little darkling that goes by the name of... Nuit ..." there seems to be some effort to say her name "Told me about you. I am intrigued, and would like to get to know you a bit, and perhaps offer a proposition of mutual benifit."
The only thing that keeps him at least affecting something human are the second-hand clothes worn on his shadowy frame. Void's eyes leave a trail of light as his gaze goes this way and that, still looking over everything. His gaze flits to the offered chair, and after a nod of thanks he moves to sit down. "Either works, really. I've met Nuit before, yeah. She was strange, but a good kinda strange." That that he nods as if mulling it over in his head well after the words come out. "But, you said you wanted to know me? That truly depends on how long ya have, and how much you hate the dark."
Green eyes sparkle with something perhaps a little too ambitious, but Lux gives a brief nod and a slight thin smile. "I do not mind the Dark, Master Void. I am well aquainted with it," she chuckles slightly, before offering him the tea cup with 2 lumps of sugar in it. She take her own with two, and pulls it up to her face to let the aroma drift in between them. "I suspect there is much to get to know. More than a simple cup of tea could possibly accompish, of course." She takes a sip.
"There are only a few of us of such a power in this town. It attracts many who have exceeded the normal progression of such power of course - dozens find themselves at the midway point between the normal maximum and stepping across the border to something else. Only a very few of us are within a step or two of doing so immediately though. You, unless I am extremely mistaken. November, Carter, myself." She lowers the tea into her lap, cupping it with both hands gloved in light. "Those like us leave a mark, given how few, just a chosen few, can actually ascende to these levels of power. Do you agree?"
His amiable demanor dries up quickly as he says, "Please don't call me master." After that he smiles once more, his smile all twinkles and drifting shadows. "But, I don't disagree with you. For the most part." He leans forward to take his cup, examining the brew as it settles in his grasp. "What stops you from attaining that kinda power? I've met a few that happily went alon, some that tried their damnedest to get away from what they've become, and those that live happily until some other tragedy comes there way."
There is a brief scowl across Lux's pretty red lips, but she banishes it quickly. "Oaths I cannot break," she says with a flat voice, a shake of her head. "There are unfortunately aspects of my existence beyond my control. Those steps are close, and perhaps would be the right ones to take if the situation demanded it. For the moment, however, those steps are beyond my reach." She shrugs and lifts her tea again, taking another sip.
"And you, Void?" She asks, dropping the 'Master'. "I am given to understanding you have walked this earth for ages. Are you ready to step across, into the next realm? Or is there something that keeps you here, waiting?"
Void listens intently while taking small sips of his tea. He doesn't answer Lux's questions immediately. He instead finishes the rest ofh is tea unless interrupted, and sets his cup back down with a happy sigh. "I enjoy the work I do. I find worship among many of the more mortal people a pleasing thing, and I offer what help to them that I can. I consider all of those lost and wayward my children." Beat. "Not Lost as you. I may have another century or two left in me, and I wish to use that time exploring more of what the world and humanity has to offer."
Lux makes no move to interrupt his silence, content to sip her tea and watch the sun slip below the horizon. As he answers, she turns green eyes toward him, listening. She nods. "No, not Lost like me," she says in agreement, before moving on. "Do you think that you do that here, Void? Are you able to provide a lot of aid to those around you or do you think you could do more?"
Voi hums in thought, and of all things he shrugs. "It is difficult to say, at times. It takes years. Some times decades. There was one family I followed along for generations until a worshipper's grandson saw his way back to the path. What was that last bit? That's it." His eyes close, and he nods. "I could do more."
Lux smiles broadly. "You could. You could do more if you had more resources at your disposal. Which brings us to the crux of what I have to ask you about. You barely know me, but this is an obsticle that can be overcome with things such as time. And for the likes of us, we have time. Lots of it." She smiles and places the cup down on its plate with a small clink.
"I am seeking to put together a Motley of the most powerful changelings here in Fort Brunsette and Tamarack Falls. It would not be your standard Motley - we are not the kind of beings who need to be leashed like slaves to one another. But it would be benificial. If for nothing else than guaranteeing we do not come to conflict. There is work we all want to do. If those who are closer to humanity seek to ask us to aid them, it can and would lead to situations where we disrupt each others plans and goals. That is not an effecient way of doing something. Instead, if we join together we could make sure that our plans go straight, either by avoiding one anothers actions or even actively helping."
He could. His eyes twinkle open, although narrowed to slits as he stares upon Lux. "What you offere makes a certain kinda sense. That I can't deny. But beneficial how? Efficient how?" Each quiestion ends with the birth and death of stars around him as his curiosity waxes and wanes. I have been alone for some seventy years or so as of now. The motley thing has been the least of my worries except the few times I've had problems with a motley."
Lux leans back in her chair, the smile scaling back into a small smirk of her lips. "November is the other Changeling I will be approaching about this. She is the Waylady, and will know all the new changelings who come and who might need advice, guidance, help that you can provide. Plus, the three of us number the most powerful beings in the area, outside any Kindly Ones that might come visiting. All three of us know that there are times we may step closer, and will understand the best ways to help others either achieve that goal or to step away from it. Including each other. I have ears within court that are benificial, and my positon as Vizier gives me a certain ... hmmm je ne sais quoi... but it is something that I can use, and do so well. My word within court can ease your path. November can give you guideance, additional aid, and direction to those who most need it. You can provide me with your knowledge and expertise of ages past, as well as simply your presence. As you well know, the presence of those like us certainly counts for quite a lot."
Void was well enough until the French hit his ears, and a shiver goes down his spine. "This is still something I'd have to chew on." He pushes the chair back, and sits up. He turns to look out over the lake while stowing his hands in his pockets. "And what would I have to give you all in turn? There's no such thing as free, and there's always a catch of some kind."
Lux tips her head, though her eyes take notice of the shiver and seem to file it away. "Truthfully, for myself, your knowledge, your presence, and simply that you do not disrupt my plans if you have any other way to do so or give me fair warning that you would have to come in conflict with me is all that I would ask. I have not yet spoken directly with November on this subject, so I can not speak of her needs, but likely it would be similar to yours. She seeks to help those find their true paths, something that I think you understand well enough."
Void nods while enjoying what little of dusk as he can. As the sun departs the day he turns again to Lux. "I highly doubt our placns would intercedee unless you have plans for bringing eternal darkness to all life as we know it." A chuckle follows as he extends a hand down to the shorter CHangeling. "We will see, Lux. I first want to meet this November and Carter you mentioned."
Lux tips her head forward. "Indeed. You should. November can be found often at the Wayhouse as according to her duties. You will recognize her as the woman without a bellybutton and rainbow hair. She often has her Mask strengthened in order to avoid scaring the newly lost returned. Carter..." she trails off, looks out over the lake as stars start to appear. "He is unlike to join. I have spoke with him already and his desires are soley personal in nature and is not eager to find himself beholden in anyway, shape or form, even ones so easy as non involvement. Still, you should meet him. He is old like yourself, having walked this land for many decades. You might be able to swap stories."
As the light goes out, all around the island fireflies start to appear. Hundreds of them, buzzing this way and that, blinking here and there. Lux smiles slightly at them.
Void nods, frowning briefly at Carter's answer. "A shame, that, but I can understand him. Freedom is hard fought, and even more difficult to give up once ya got it." The next doesn't come when the flood of fireflies make their precense known. He keeps his attentions on them for a time until the brilliant reverie loses some of its luster. "Then I'll look for Novemebr quickly. It shouldn't be that hard to find somebody with rainbow hair in this town."
Lux nods her head. "Indeed. November is rather easy to spot." She folds her hands across her lap and lets the fireflies roam for a bit, before she stands up and tips her head. "This island is my home, Void, but I suspect we will be spending a lot of time getting to know each other. Feel free to visit anytime you want." A quick glance as his homeless atire is given "You can ask at the docks to take you here on my tab, if you wish, I just ask you respect the privacy of my home," she says as she gestures to the cottage. "I need to be elsewhere for a bit, but you may stay as long as you wish. The young man will take you back whenever you are ready."
He looks down to her, and brow briefly quirked. When the invitation to stay comes he nods, and moves to sit down again. His gaze again turns to the fireflies as a smile forms on his lips. "Thank you. So long as it doesn't rain I think I'm gonna be good, but I do wanna stay." The why of it is rather obvious with all of his staring at the insects. "May your travels be safe wherever it is you're heading tonight."
