It's late in the evening. Not past midnight though. So that's good. Ashe is currently still here and still dealing with things. Uvall is dealing with some of the hedge bugs that fly around the top of the caverns. Ashe is seated and drinking from an insulated mug, because even if there's a fire going it is still cold. And up above them, there's some sort of bat type creature that's hanging from the ceiling. Just waiting. Late is good for some people, especially Darklings -- like the one who moves into the hall, his coat of shadow billowing around him and a deep purple light shining in his eyes. The light dims as he moves neareer to the Monarch, stopping at a courteous distance away from her. His hair and coat both continue to move some, even though he isn't. "Queen Ashe Whelan," he says, staring into her face and at the crown on her head, making some assumptions there. "My name is vervnE Cielo of the Onyx Court, Blackbird Bishop. I would like to pledge to Fate's Harvest." Ashe should have heard of him from Nathania. Ashe is dressed in jeans, boots, orange and black flannel with a grey sweater coat over it. She looks over when Vervane addresses her and there's a smile, "Ashe is fine. It is nice to meet you, Mister Cielo." she tells him. "I heard from Nathania about you wanting to join the Freehold. I am correct that she has read the Laws to you?" she asks. "I have read the Laws," vanE intones. He moves his hands to cross lightly in front of his form, one hand on one wrist. His gaze is respectful, but steady. Certainly he ducks his gaze for none, but it's not a directly challenging look, either. Beneath that shadowy coat, he's wearing a black button down shirt buttoned up to the top and some very heavy black jeans that end in black boots, zippers winding along them. A very slight smile comes to his face. "I trust that you enforce them in a just manner." It's almost a question but not...quite. Ashe gives a nod to that, "You can have a seat if you like. It's probably warmer than standing around." she admits. "And I will do my best to enforce if Laws are broken. Thankfully no one has done any oath breaking this season." she smiles to that. Pulling the stitches in her cheeks when she does. "If you are ready we'll begin when you like." she tells him. vanE looks very seriously like he intends to refuse her offer, but in the end, he does indeed take a seat, crossing his ankle over his knee and resting one elbow on the arm of the chair. Not exactly a relaxed posture, but not tense, either. Maybe somewhere in between. "I'm ready." A touch of light appears in his eyes again -- white, this time, like some distant star. Ashe slides to the edge of her seat once he's taken a seat, "I think my casualness throws people off sometimes, I apologize." she tells him. Then there's a nod of her head when he states he's ready. "Repeat after me." she smiles. "I pledge my time, my talents and my fealty to Fate's Harvest. I swear that I no longer serve the Fae, nor will I while this promise stands; that while I am under its protection I will obey the principles and bylaws of the Fate's Harvest Freehold as ratified by Monarch and Council, in return for the support and safety they provide. May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn." vanE lets out a deep chuckle at the mention of her casualness. It starts in his chest, and then he opens his mouth and lets it out. It's not loud, per se, but there is a resonance to it, like there is with everything he says. Like he appreciates her sentiment. "It's refreshing, actually." The somber Darkling even lets the smile stay on his face, though he grows a tad more serious again when he repeats the Pledge. And given the gravity of his voice, the way even simple things take on an almost musical reverance when he says them, it sounds very sincere indeed. As though he really and truly means every word of what he's speaking and is not only parroting them because he "has to." Especially the last: "May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn." vanE stares her right in the eye, the light in his own growing brighter for a moment before sparking out again. Ashe sits there with her hands on her knees while he repeats things and there's a smile as he keeps her gaze. Then he can feel the weight of the Wyrd settle the oath over his shoulders. "Welcome to Fate's Harvest, Vervane." she tells him. Then she pulls one of the little Autumn leaf pins from her pocket, "This is just a small token of my appreciation for swearing during Autumn. Thank you." she tells him. ooc http://fatesharvest.com/wiki/images/e/e5/AutumnTokens.jpg vanE inclines his head, smiling just a bit. "Thank you," he says in return, reaching out for the little pin. He studies it closely, that same faint smile on his face. It grows a little as his hazel eyes meet her own. "You're down-to-earth and generous, for a monarch. Would there were more like you." "You're welcome." Ashe tells him as she finishes off her coffee. Then there's a smile, "And I've tried to be. I hope that we can see the same when Winter rolls around." she admits. "I will work harder over the next month to make sure some loose ends get tied up. Plus I need to make sure we get some more groups some coverage." she chuckles. "The groups," vanE asks, running a long finger over the little Autumn pin he's just been given. "I don't know a lot about them. I've heard about the Watchers, however, and was curious as to what they've been doing." He looks like he want to say more -- his lips even part -- but then he closes them again. He does this rather a lot sometimes. "They're all doing their own little things right now." Ashe nods to that. Then there's a bit of a look when the Watchers come up and there's a bit of a hand wobble, "I was going to meet with Rorschach and others Thursday, but things got rescheduled. I can point him your way if needed. They are in need of members if you are a Dreamer or Seer." she offers. "I am," vanE confirms, his eyes narrowing slightly as the Monarch is rather vague with her. It's not surprising, perhaps, but he still seems a touch frustrated. "If you could let him know that I might be able to assist them, I would appreciate it." He lets out a small laugh, brushing some of that dark hair from his face. "Admittedly, I don't tend to be much of a joiner. Freeholds are...a different matter." Ashe gives a look to him, "I will let Ror know that you are looking for him. Right now there's some dream troubles that some of the Mortal counterparts and some Fae-Touched had been having, but last we checked it had been clearing up." she states. "Or at least that was last time I checked." she sighs. "Joining is not always for everyone, but I thank you for lending your help to us." she tells him. "From the sound of it, the problems here are fairly grave." vanE studies her face, and then her crown. "It's hard to look the other way when there are those in active danger." Although he does, in fact, look the other way -- away from her and down towards the ground. "Anyway. I will not intrude where I'm not needed. If there is a need, then I will help." Ashe gives him a bit of an eyebrow quirk, "Yeah, the Soundless have gone silent. The Hob Army in the Hedge is idling. The Dreams are being dealt with. There's probably something else getting ready to bite us in the ass." she admits. vanE chuckles again at the turn of phrase. Again, it's appreciative. But then he asks, brow furrowing, "The Soundless. No one's told me of them before. Who or what are they? Why have they gone silent?" "A Freehold that's been a pain in the ass when people from our Freehold couldn't keep their mouths shut. Other than that we've learned little about them." Ashe states with a frown. "Did learn some stuff about our Freehold though." she sighs as she shakes her head. "And I'm hoping they've gone silent because they know we aren't going to get them mixed up in shenanigans or trouble, you know?" she tells him. "Not that they are building siege weapons or something." she states. Then she stands, "But, I have been out all day and I am starving. So I am going to head home and see if my husband left me any meatloaf out." she chuckles. "I will fill you in on the Soundless more when I'm not hungry and half asleep, Vervane." she states. "I suppose it makes sense that the Soundless would go silent," vanE mutters, after the fact. He idly fingers the tin blackbird pendant around his neck. He very much looks like he's going to ask more questions...until Ashe states her intentions to go home. Then the smile he gives her is kindly, understanding even. "Of course." He rises to his feet, dark coat billowing. "Thank you again. I look forward to future meetings."
