Hold My Beer | |
The loading/unloading and 'warehouse' space for the new business known as 'Hold my Beer' is pretty damn spacious - and the security is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, while B-ray told them both when to come, he has to has to buzz them through and give them ID badges to wear clipped somewhere. The business is shut down and one long bench has what looks like a taken apart fancy-pants Harmony smart remote, sitting next to what might have been a rocket launcher with it's innards spilled out and spliced and adjusted. A grill was clearly going with some food kept hot, beers and soda and coffee available and he's used carpenter's marking tape to mark out two large rooms in the warehouse/holding space, along with wheeling over two whiteboards, some markers, and a laptop. "Get grub if'n ya want it, beer, drinks, ah mapped out a suggestion of floor space but we c'n totally adjust it, too. Figgered y'all got the medical knowhow, we can maybe make a list of equipment an' space an' layout y'all want. Jes' us here, well us and Scout," he says - Scout, the mutt pup, now almost three months old, is half awake and gnawing on what was a beef rib bone before all the meat was tore from it. He'll bark HI and drag his bone over to explore the new folks. B-ray has on polo, jeans, baseball cap and a cigarette tucked behind one ear. Softly, from the speakers, some old school country is playing. Jon cames in, badged, and got another look at the other side of the space. The presence of the dog did catch his attention and he called out, "Scout? You in here buddy?" The stoic Jotun grinned faintly and crouched to give greets to teh puppy. Ok ok ok so Jotun liked dogs. "Hey Billy, still really good of you to help folks out like this. It's appreciated." Isolde generally wouldn't be caught dead in a place named 'Hold My Beer', but projects need doing! The Doctor has dressed down this evening in jeans, t-shirt and a light jacket. So she doesn't look weird in her scrubs and medical gear in here. She gives a smile to Billy Ray as she heads in and there's a nod, "Good evening." she states. There's a wave and smile to Jon as well, "And a good evening to you as well." she states. When the dog heads over she veers away from it, "Hi buddy. Not too keen on dogs, sorry about that." she tells the animal as she finds a seat. "It's all good. Jon's a not so secret dog guy," says B-ray as he snags himself a beer, a grin at the other two. Scout is happy to bark and 'wuff' and tell Jon all about his day and show off his bone, and so on. Billy points to the taped off area. "Ah kinda guessed - and ah don't mind helpin' Jon, ah surely don't! It's fer the good a' all - anyway, ah marked off some space. Ah figure this room here," he walks over, "Prolly big 'nuff fer like three gurneys side by side. The next room, ah figgered for storage. But, ah guess that's the first question, docs. Y'want this mortal side, right? And do y'figure it's a trauma area, no operating room? Or do ya's want an operating room? Ah guess that's the first question, right? What level a' care y'all wanna provide?" Jon sooped the pup and kinda was a little happy that the pile of puppy didn't weigh like anything to him. He grinned easily and said, "Just cause I got resting asshole face don't mean I have the bedside manner of Atilla the Hun. I dunno. I mean I seen all kinda messed up post-hedge wounds. Sometimes people lose limbs, get bit's abit one. Be nce to do some outpatient in privacy. Anything bigger than that I'd think we got bigger issueson hand, but I dunno." "Hunters sometimes have dogs. Just brings up bad memories." Isolde tells them with a bit of an apologetic smile. Then she takes a drink of her water as she listens to them. "Well electronics and things won't work in the Hedge, so having it Mortal side will give optimal results. I think we can deal with a hedge side triage area fairly easily though." she states. "As for equipment and things, I don't see us bringing a lot of trauma patients in. I'm guessing broken bones, lacerations, immediate healing situations are what we're going to be dealing with." she explains. "And if we do get the rare jesus this person is completely mangled situation we'll probably all be in here dealing with it." she adds. Billy Ray nods and looks around. "OK. So 3 treatment beds - is that enough, too much? Second smaller room for supplies - ah figure we're gonna need a fridge for meds, right? Some storage for extra items. Lemme," he grabs some tape, consulting his phone for dimensions before he tapes out the outline of 3 gurneys in the main room, "Walk 'round there, that feel OK, too cramped? Ah assume y'want some kinda directed lighting to look at stuff an' suture, right? Jon considered holding onto the puppy noting to Isolde, "Hey, it's cool. I got em. I tooootally get it. Ummm a thought? As we deal with varied anatomy might bre good for us to look into one larger table too? In case like Damion, Byron, or me or something hit the ground. Be easier and safer to work with. I might have a lead on rubber matting we can cover too incase of Levinquicks." Isolde stands up and heads over to walk around things, checking for space, "I think three beds is good for now. We might need to get more and that's easy enough." she states. "I think the space will be fine." she nods when she's done walking the lines. "A fridge to keep things chilled would be fantastic, yes." she adds. Then there's a look to Jon and a point to him, "Excellent idea. Byron and those others are probably going to need bigger tables." she agrees. "I can get us a few of the light stands in case we need them for sutures and removing things like bullets and all of that." she tells them. Billy Ray nods, thoughtful. He grunts, pacing around the tables. "Should we go down to two tables and supersize one?" he asks the two. "Ah c'n reinforce the heck outta one'a the tables but ah think yer talkin' mass as well as space, right Jon? So mebbe two tables an' we could store a portable cot in the other room if'n we need it? So med fridge," he says as he begins to scribble on the white board, making notes - beds, reinforced, plan for minor ailments and initial triage, no surgery, no ICU. "Y'all need wifi, access to the Internet fer doctor website stuff?" he asks as he scribbles. Isolde gives a bit of a pondering look to the tables, "We could do one of each table. We hopefully won't have an overflow and if we do, there's some tables that we can store folded up." she tells them. "I don't think I'll need to access the internet for things given I went to med school, but having wifi access and things might make it easier on people that need to stay a day or so?" she offers. Billy Ray nods and makes a few more notes. "OK. Y'all want one or two of those paramedic style portable monitors? EKG, O2, blood pressure, stuff like that? Speaking of that, do we want oxygen in here, masks? And ah guess th' elephant in the room is med records, right? Us Lost don't like records too much but y'all gotta know if someone is say, a hemophiliac and y'wanna put 'em on blood thinners. How do we crack -that- nut?" Isolde leans against one of the tables and rubs her chin a little when Billy Ray poses that question, "Probably one for each bed would be good. Just to make sure everyone has one." she states. "As for records...I could ask that the Freehold members grant us access to their medical records if they have them? I could do a database search, but given HIPPA and all that I'd rather have their permission." she admits. "Or we can ask people to come to us so we can have their medical records on file in some form." she points out. Billy Ray nods, spacing out the room again and making notes - oxygen, tanks, nasal canulas, masks, the portable monitors. "True. IT's gonna be a pain, for continuity a' care - if say, ah suture someone up an' a coupla weeks later they come to you to get followup or somethin'. It almost seems like we'd have t'ask 'em to carry their records with 'em in some form - an' bring 'em in as they get checked out. Ah dunno. Ah could be overthinkin' it, too!" "It's not overthinking it really. It's actually things that will make our lives easier as medical care providers." Isolde smiles as she says that. She pulls a folded up paper out of her pocket and hands it to Billy Ray, "That's a list of clinic supplies that I got from one of the outpatient clinics that recently opened up. I think if we have those and then our small triage areas we should be good to start out." she explains. Jon looked over Isolde's list being midul to not point the dog at her. "Oooh that say centrifuge on there? Though honestly we got anyone who is good with computers and clerical? COuld help. We have a fist fuull of non-healer roles that'd be super helpful." Billy Ray takes it, reviewing it, "Sweet. Thanks, doc. Yeah, this'll help a lot. The drugs is the part ah can't really source - we got lotsa good metal an' items when John an' Miss Dielle an' ah went through that junk yard. An th' suture kits - bandages, all that jazz, that stuff don't require no script. Oh! Ah was thinkin' a portable closet like thing - we could stuff two or so rucksacks in 'em - in case we go to theHedge, put some portable stuff in there - ah dunno, splints, bandages, IV stuff, medical kits, that kinda thing?" A grin, "Thanks. This'll help a ton." Isolde gives Jon a smile, "Yeah, figure if we need to do blood testing or anything that would be a good thing to have." she tells him. Then there's a look to Billy Ray, "It's no problem on that." she smiles. "As for drugs, medical kits and things. I can probably get a lisence under the cover of me starting a private practice." she admits. "So let me work on that angle with the locals." she nods. Billy Ray nods, "Good good, lemme add centrifuge to this," says B-ray as he jots down more notes. "K. So ah can get this started on the back half of my property. Ah'll get some dudes - with the money we got - to lay down the foundation, get the framin' in, mebbe the roof cause it's hot out an' ah don't feel like roofin', get th' base plumbin' an' electric in. Then with some help - Mebbe Jon, mebbe others - we can float the' drywall an' paint the walls an' finish it up, get it all geared up. That way the construction folks don't know what it for - ah can say it's a classroom or whatnot, yeah?" Jon quietly cheered "Yaaas!' Okay he wanted one. he could get his science nerd on. "ooh roll in shower for wheelchair access too." He looked to Isold and said "Buddy of mine on the tem, Kendrik? Completely shot out his leg. Was in ahalo and shit. Made showering a total pain so they got him one to roll into. Said it was like the best thing in the world." Isolde perks up when she hears talk of building and painting, "I'm not too bad with a hammer and nails if you need me." she states. Goldspinners were really good at creating stuff! "I think wheelchair access is a good call. Not all of us got the luxury of being able to walk still on the way out either." she admits. Billy Ray grins, "WE could use the help," he tells Isolde and nods to Jon, "Good call man," he says as he makes a few more notes, 'Alright. So Ah got this list, y'all are OK with the dimensions an' we got a good chunk of stuff for equipment to set out with," he hands Jon the list from Isolde, "So ah think next step is we get the construction folks t' at least break ground. Do we gotta run this all past the big man - Ian - 'fore we start, or just get started?" he asks. Jon smiled a little bit more. He wasn't always one to speak up, and he had no threshold for pride that he stood on, but the approval did seem to go a long way withthe big guy. "I think Ian will like to see it aaaand Spring plant people? Can sometimes just tell the ground to move. I can break. She can build. Get us someone to help and we can cut time by a bit." He paused and looked to Isolde, "Never thought I'd be wreckin things to improve a situation." Sayeth the render.
Billy Ray grins at the two, "There ya go. OK, so lets get together an' see what we c'n do in terms of gettin' this done. Ah think 'tween the three of us we can definitely make this happen. So ah'll get some of them there computer apps an' start workin' on some floorplans," he says as he pulls out a notebook and pen to offer it to Jon first then Isolde, "Gimme a good email? Ah can email you when ah'm done workin' on it - from th' plans we can build it up. |
