WW15 - Wilderness - Salvation West - Summit
The highest peak in the local range, the summit of Salvation is a rocky, wind-worn place, the small bronze marker from the U.S. Geological Survey marking the elevation at 3,771 feet above sea level. Somewhat lower, a fire tower of wood and steel construction is bolted into a flatter expanse to give a view of the surrounding landscape, similar towers visible atop both the eastern peak and Mount Mischance on the other side of the valley.
Cell service, thanks to the tower also built up here, is excellent.
There are no safety railings, no parking areas, but there is a small stable attached to the fire tower for the housing and protection of the firefighters' mounts, all hay stored inside to keep the often blustery wind from gusting it away.
