WW14 - Wilderness - Salvation West - Summit Trail

The higher one ascends, the fewer the trees become, affording a clear view over the fields, the town and, on the far eastern riverbank, Mount Mischance itself, somewhat lower than Salvation. The trail is an increasingly switchback affair, and while it remains broad enough for two abreast, the dirt is often supplemented with gravel, rainfall washing segments away.

Graded with an inward slant for safety's sake, the trail climbs straight up to the summit, a few storm shelters have been built off to the sides where broader land for them is available, and a few small cabins, disdaining such niceties as roads, electricity and modern plumbing, can occasionally be glimpsed through the trees.
