Overview

To the run of the mill locals, Nana Desrochers has always been here in town. There were mumblings about a husband way, way back. During 'The War'. He was a pilot, some say. Some say he was a marine. Others insist he was in the Navy, but everyone says he was killed in action, leaving poor Nana all alone with a sickly child. Oh, it was such a sad tale. The reclusive, seldom seen mother. The pale, unhealthy child. Then, some short time after 'The War', the daughter took a turn for the better, and Nana herself joined the community as a whole. A cheerful and bright person, on the whole. Attended church, volunteered on various steering committees, was the head of the PTA until her daughter graduated. She never did remarry, but that seemed to just give her more time to pout into her daughter and the community.

Fast forward ahead, and her daughter passed away in her 50's, complications of the childhood illness it's said. Nana took it in stride, and kept right up with her work in the community after time off for mourning her loss. After a prolonged period of illness a few years back, Nana was never quite the same. Seldom seen about town, and then only in her wheelchair or scooter. No longer taking part in her volunteer work, seldom seen at church. She received a lot of well-wishers and polite visitors at first, but they were more or less all politely rebuffed. 'I'm slowing down', was her typical explanation, 'I need to take care of myself now.'

To those in the know where The Lost are concerned, Nana appeared some years back, having apparently stolen her life back from her fetch. Yep. Talk about gutsy. She's a disturbingly powerful Wizened of the Autumn Court now, capable of producing all manner of gadgets, tokens, hedgespun, geegaws, and goblin curiosities with alarming speed and proficiency. (Note: What follows is still being hashed out with staff! So don't use it ICly yet, cos I can't myself!) It's also whispered, much less admiringly, that she's a member in good standing of the local Goblin Market, the Wild Roses. Her pink tinted hair, quite out of keeping with her bronze and coal aesthetic, certainly makes that a distinct possibility. It would certainly explain why such a potent member of the Lost has no real influence within either her court or the Freehold itself.

RP Hooks

  • Goblin Marketeer - Nana does a brisk trade in abstractions, hedgefruit, tokens, information, and more.
  • Bionic Gran - While her physical body is somewhat hobbled with age, she's made up for it through her inventions.
  • Unexpected Nurturer - One wouldn't expect an Autumn of her intensity to be kindly, but she manages it. Sometimes.
  • Yorkshire Terrier - Nana has an adorable little Yorkshire Terrier with a million pet names.

Contacts

Soundtrack

The Andrews Sisters - Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree

I'm so afraid that the plans we made underneath those moonlit skies,
Will fade away and you're bound to stray if the stars get in your eyes,
So, don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me,
You're my L-O-V-E.

Rosemary Clooney - It's Bad For Me

It's so sweet for me it's swell for me,
To feel that you're going through hell for me,
Yet no matter however appealing,
I still have a feeling it's bad for me.

Bing Crosby - Pistol Packing Mama

Oh, she kicked out my windshield,
And she hit me over the head,
She cussed and cried and said I lied,
And she wished that I was dead.
