It's still early for some people. Plus it's Saturday. So it's a surprise to actually catch Isolde in the Ruined Garden in Stoneheart. Not that's she's lacking in her job. She just leaves the garden to the Master Gardener most days. Though she's been here working on installing some new seating. The Bright One is dressed in jeans, boots, flannel and has her hair pulled back into a loose braid. Apparently carpentry is a thing in the hedge. "Hello and good morning!! Afternoon? Who's really keeping track?" The sense of sublimity, perhaps momentarily mistakeable for Calm's presence but for the distinct -edge- that Vorpal's bears, precedes him into the gardens, his voice and presence arriving several moments after the smothering cloak of Wyrd. He has a heavy rucksack on his back, and seems rather cheerful, all told. "I've been checking here often, but this is the first time I've caught someone here! Are you one of the Greenies, miss? Or just here for the woodwork?" Isolde's never met Calm so it's not like she'd mistake the two. She doesn't startle and there's a pleasant smile, "Good afternoon." she states with a wave. There's a hammer still in her hand. She settles that down once she realizes she's still holding it. "I'm sorry that you've not caught anyone. I'm Isolde. Greenie Grandmaster. How can I help you?" she asks him. "AH! The Greenmaster- Greenmistress?- herself. It's quite a pleasure, Miss Isolde. You and I, we've business on two fronts. The FIRST is that I come bearing gifts four our Freehold, clippings and fruits for planting, if there is anything useful the gardens do not already grow. The second," he says as he unshoulders the rucksack and sets it down. It tips, and perhaps a dozen scattered fruits spill from the open top of the bag. It is still very, VERY full. "-is that Nathania suggested I speak to you about joining the Greenies myself. Less of the direct healer, for I'll admit that besides first aid and body art aftercare, I know little about medicine, but more to keep you and yours stocked on the floral delights available in the great green yonder."
"Then Isolde it shall be," Vorpal grins, bowing faintly over the rucksack cornucopia. "I've no objection to learning- in fact, with what I understand, I'd better get used to enjoying education if I'm to enjoy the rather excessive amount of time stretching out in front of me." "AH! My apologies, Isolde, my manners have escaped me. I, milady, am Vorpal, God of the Hunt, Slayer of the Beast That Walks, Dawn Aspirant- and a recruit of the Harvestmen. I am honored to make your acquaintance, Grandmaster." Isolde offers a smile and a little bit of a hand waving when he bows faintly, apparently not one that needed it. Then she gives another smile, "Learning is something that we never really outgrow. I'm almost one hundred and it's something I still enjoy doing. And with our lives it sometimes pays to be willing to learn new things." she admits. At his introduction she dips her head, "Well met, Vorpal and welcome to Fate's Harvest." she states. "Cassian will be happy to know that there are more people that are interested in hedge fruits and gardens as well." she smiles. "I'm close to that myself, counting from my birth!" Vorpal grins and ducks to scoop the fruit back into his rucksack. "Thank you, thank you. I'll likely have fruits for Cassian personally- I plan to preserve what you and he don't use, but there's only another 48 hours or so before the fresh fruits and clippings will need to be processed. Are there specific plants you might like to plant today? I've far more than I'll use in the next season or so."
"Well, let's see what we have," Vorpal murmurs, starting to sift through the bag. "Babel gum, Bloodroot, Brickapple, Buglewort, Cheeroot, Dactyl... hm. Got a bit of Damp-amp, Gallowsroot, Ghoul's Shroud... Murmurleaf? Hm? Oasis Fruit, Pitt Moss, Serpent Gourd, Whisper Willow, Wineberries and Wyrmthumb. Lots of Jarmyn, Ertwen, Dream-a-drupe, Coupnettle... and Catseye Clover. I've got plans to go looking for Amaranthine and other rarer fruits, but that's a few days down the line." He straightens, waving off the reassurance. "I've got enough Coupnettle and Catseye Clover to slip past anything that might make trouble whilst I hunt- it's no trouble to go get more. There's no bad end here for me." Isolde takes a seat on the ground, not minding the dirt and things as she listens to what Vorpal has, "That's a good haul." she tells him, eyebrows lifting in an impressed way. "We've got clover for days, though we've got a few Fae-Touched around that might use some." she muses. "We've got a good stock of Jarmyn." she tells him. Then she's pondering as she looks over things, "What to plant." she murmurs. "Might I recommend Coupnettle for restoring mental strength, Oasis Fruits- as their milk cures dehydration immediately, and the flesh trades breathing air for breathing water for a couple hours, and Wineberry Blush? The fruits cure insanity, if brewed into wine and administered within 24 hours of onset. It only works for insanity caused by personal moral failure, however- but considering the cascade of effects visited upon mortals after leaving the Hedge..." Vorpal shrugs. "Up to you, though. And I'll be making another visit after my hunt through the Hedge." Isolde gives a nod to Vorpal after he's made his suggestions, "All strong plants for planting. Plus we don't have any. And we could use them." she tells him with a smile. "Thank you for them, Vorpal. They are greatly appreciated. I'll get them planted before I head to the hospital for my shift." she states. "You said you were a member of the Harvestmen as well?" she asks him. "Recruit is more accurate, sadly. I'm getting close to the end of my month, though. So hopefully, I haven't completely disgraced my compatriots," Vorpal murmurs with a grin. "Do you have an idea how much of each you'd like to keep? I can leave a few of each to be sure you can get a plot successfully planted." "You work at the hospital, you say?" "Wait, are you Isolde -Garreau-? Doctor Isolde Garr-" Vorpal holds up his hand, shaking his head. "My apologies, truly. I should have made that connection earlier." Isolde chuckles, "Oh you're fine, I'm easier to spot if you're looking at me with my mask up." she tells him with a smile. "Recruit seems a bit derogatory sometimes. So I'm sorry if it offends. I know some of our 'recruits' have been far above that title and have been miffed by it. So we try to use it sparingly." Isolde tells him with a soft smile. "And I've not heard anything bad about you. So I don't think so." she chuckles. "And I'll just keep a few starts. Not hog all of it." she muses. Then there's a nod, "Yeah, I've worked at Riverside for ten years. I'm a neurosurgeon. But usually I just work the ER and trauma units." she tells him as she settles plants into new plots. "Oh, it's fine. I have plenty of impressive titles, the recruit one just adds contrast and flavor to the introduction." Vorpal closes up his rucksack after passing over the fruits in question. "Noble indeed, good Doctor/ I'm afraid I've no mortal occupation to my name, though I do regularly spend my time trying to keep my eye out for violence out and about." "I'm glad to hear you haven't heard slander. Ill just keep my nose clean a few more days, then." "Is there anything else Ican do for you while I'm here, Isolde?" Isolde moves the dirt easily with her hands, not afraid to get dirty and there's a smile as she listens to him, "I think it means you're willing to go through things. So it shows you aren't full of yourself." she admits. "And my mortal occupation stems from my mortal life. Tell me too many times I'm not allowed to do something and I'll just do it anyways." she chuckles softly. "And if you meet violence and need healing that's why we are here, please call us." she points out. Then she looks to him, "Unless you've got a chocolate donut in your bag I think you're good." she grins at him. "I'll announce your joining to the rest of the group and we'll get you situated as time goes on." she tells him. "And thank you again for the plants. They were not necessary for joining, but are greatly appreciated." she admits. "Excellent! Tell you what- they may have been unnecessary, but you could let Captain Byron and Lieutenant Dielle know I provided the fruits and some insight on which to plant. They may not much care about that in and of itself, but that I -acquired- them should rest in my favor." "I'm afraid not chocolate donut, no. Do have a good shift at work, Doctor- and let me know if you have requests for rare fruit, or if you need some muscle for an expedition of your own, Grandmaster, yes?" said Vorpal. "I will let Byron and Dielle know, yes." Isolde tells Vorpal as she dusts her hands off with a smile. "And I think they'd be most happy to know that you're helping out." she nods. "And thank you, Vorpal. You be safe in your travels. Last time I met anything in the hedge I beat it till it exploded, but I won't turn down extra muscle when it's needed." she grins at that. Vorpal looks thoroughly impressed, and grins. "Excellent. Doo keep me appraised, and have a lovely day!" Isolde gives him a bright smile and a wave as he goes, then goes back to planting the fresh cuttings that he's left for them. |
