The Whelan Wedding

"Oh nonono. You're stuck with me."

Participants

Byron, Ashe

2017.09.22

Ashe and Byron swear the Heart's Oath.

Location

A private place

The mundane wedding vows had been exchanged in the morning in front of one of the Justice of the Peace. Ashe had been dressed in a very plain white dress with a black ribbon at the waist. Though it was one of those things a girl likes to do. Find a dress.

And now it was time to do the Wyrd involved side of the marriage. After talk they'd decided to do the Heart's Oath. Which was a big step for anyone. Ashe had one more change before she was going to oath though. The redhead had told Byron to meet her a specific place and at a specific time. She was always full of surprises.

And the place that Ashe wanted to meet him at is something that was hidden away from the public. A still pond with a large bridge that was built up from each side. It was a beautiful sight and the leaves were already starting to turn to herald Autumn's arrival.

Perhaps one of the only times she actually can say she saw the gargoyle squirm, the mundane wedding, Byron had on a very well-fitted black suit, done to present a stark, opposite contrast to Ashe's dress...black suit, white cummerbund, white tie, with subtle cuts and folds added to keep from impinging on those wings without making the mundanes wonder why a groom would wear a torn suit to his own wedding.

But when he arrives at the place and time of her choosing, he's gone with a slightly diffeent look. Still mostly blacks but now with very deep subtle blues added into the coloration, and with the maybe NOT so subtle addintion of that huge axe of his strapped to his back in a peace bonding arrangement - clearly the man has no intention of using the thing, but is keeping it on him as part of what he is, that is offering to bond with the shadowsoul today. When he eases his way back into the pond area, he stops for a moment to take in the view, then starts for the bridge at a slow, lumbering walk. One brow slowly rises and he's several steps in before he murmurs in a soft voice, "Baby...?"

Ashe steps up on the opposite side of the bridge and starts to head across towards Byron. There's a smile on her face, a very happy one. Which with the season changing it might be because she's not mourning anymore. She stops at the center of the bridge and holds out both hands, palm up, "You're right on time." the Shadowsoul tells him as she grins. She extremely happy. The Winters would be disgusted!

Byron's face lights up when he catches sight of her, and the cinnamon and warmth of his mantle flares up enough that one might think a Starbucks just went into high gear nearby. He lumbers up to the top of the bridge and takes both of her hands in his, bending down to raise them up and kiss them both, "For just a moment, I was panicking thinking I misunderstood your directions, and you were waiting on ANOTHER bridge halfway across down wondering why I wasn't showing up. I love your choices."

Ashe gives a warm look to him, even he can see love in those big black eyes of hers. "There would have been a slightly irritated bat flapping after you had that been the case." she tells him with a bit of a chuckle. She raises his hands to press them to her lips and then looks up to him, "You sure you want to do this?" she asks him.

One brow lightly lifts when she asks him if he's sure, then leans forward just enough to steal a soft kiss from her lips. With his forehead lightly brushing against hers, he murmurs, "I already know you have cold feet because I find them on my butt every other night. But a sudden change of mind? No, baby. I suspect shortly after I moved in with you, I had a feeling this wasn't a passing thing. You are terrible and spooky and you even scared me into throwing a chair at you. I love you enough to make a Spring tell us to get a room. Tough. You're stuck with me."

"But you're so warm." Ashe tells him with a laugh that echoes around them as she brushes her lips against his. It was peaceful here and a true beauty of the season changing. "You're never going to get over that chair throwing incident." she muses to him. "If I didn't scare you, I don't think we'd be here darling." she admits to him. "I'm stuck with you, you're stuck with me. We'll be a scary family." she sings songs at him.

Byron chuckles softly at the warm comment, his eyes closing for a few seconds while she sings. The smile warms up on his face while he listens. He's very quiet while he breathes in slowly, then murmurs softly, "You are dark and you lurk and inspire fear of that thing that goes bump in the night, because it might be you, and I find myself admiring you when you work and trying not to grin like a happy Spring at times when I am with you. You are terrible and horrible and fear-inspiring, and you have my black, stony heart in your sharp little claws. My shoulders are always yours to perch on and my wings are yours to hide in. You are my beautiful, terrible shadowmonster and I will terrorize anyone that has a problem with that until they cannot sleep for a month."

Ashe is obviously not prepared for those words from him and there's a welling of tears that spring up and she reaches up to wipe them away. UGH. She gives him a soft smile as he finishes speaking and there's a looks up to him. "The universe works in mysterious ways and had you not came into my life the way that you did, I don't think we'd be here." she admits. "Ever since you hit me with that chair you've been my rock. My mountain. Both figuratively and literally." she tells him with a loving smile. "And I will stay by you. To perch upon your shoulders and to hide in your wings when I need to." she states. "And I am here when you need a few minutes of peace. When you don't want to sleep at night. I'll drive away any monsters that are lingering for you." she states.

Byron lets go of her hands, so he can draws his up to cup her cheeks with those huge stone palms of his. Rubbing his thumbs across her cheeks, he offers, "I have peace when you are close by. Just catching an intense little look from you, a glance when you have to deal with a room full of chaos, does wonderful things. I think very soon, I will be more concerned with making sure my shadowmonster has calm and strength when she needs it...already many people look up to you, and I suspect the Wyrd will as well. I may have to kidnap my beautiful wife and admire her in just her crown, after handling the rest of the freehold all day. And I will enjoy every moment of it."

Ashe's face warms when he cups her cheeks and there's a smile to him as he speaks. Those tears are still being kept at bay. For the moment. "I hope the Wyrd is taller than me." she teases him gently. "If I do get crowned. I will ask for patience. I know this was probably not the best day, but I wanted to do this on a day that was important to us both. And we're both Autumn's." she smiles. "And now we come to the hard part." she tells him softly.

Byron shakes his head slightly at her words, "You don't have to ask me for anything. And today /is/ the best day, because I will be able to point to this day as where I made one of the best choices of my life, however long it will be. As for this being the hard part...no, no it's not." He smiles a little more and closes his eyes, and leans in that last little distance again to capture her lips in another slow, lingering kiss infused with his own glamour, then nuzzles them gently before he lets the oath sink in while he murmurs, "These are my words to you. In Winter, let me warm you. In Spring, let me sate your passion. In Summer, let me defend you. In Autumn, let me soothe your fears. Let me be your beloved, and you mine, loving you and no other, til the end of my days. I will be true to you, and you to me, never betraying - by word or deed - our love. Let our hands and hearts be bound, in this, our pledge of love. - There is not now, and there never will be, anyone for me but you. I swear my undying devotion to you not because it is expected of me, but because I can think of no truer way to express the power of my love. My heart is yours to cherish or to break. Take it, and take me with it, for all the rest of my life."

"I know, but it's nice to ask." Ashe tells him in a soft tone. Then she closes her eyes as well and there's a kiss returned to his. Then she's listening to his words and she feels that tug. When he finishes speaking, she takes a steadying breath and places her hands on either side of his face, "These are my words to you. Take it, and take me with it, for all the rest of my life." she whispers to him.

Byron takes in a slow, deep breath as he listens to her return the oath, bending down to ease his hands around her frame, and scoops her up in her dress, to cradle up against his huge form. Both big wings drag forward, and while not quite large enough to envelop her, the leading edges do reach far enough to cling to her shoulders like an extra pair of hands, to hold her in close to his chest for a moment. Pressing a stony cheek against her darker, warmer one, he whispers, "I love you, and you are always with me from here onward. Anything you need, will always be mine to give if I have it. You should never be afraid to ask it of me."

When Byron bends down to scoop her up, Ashe giggles a little and wraps her arms around his shoulders as she listens to him. The Wyrd had already bound them together. They could feel it. "I love you, Byron. All that I have is yours. Whenever you need it. Ask and I'll give it to you." she smiles as she pulls back to look at him.

And it's just as Ashe starts to pull back to look at him that something strange starts to happen...like something is starting to form on the top of Ashe's head.

Byron pulls his head back quickly when he's startled by a black spine of the crown vaguely threatening his eye, with a soft, "Whoa..." Still holding on to her, he blinks a few times while he watches Autumn manifest itself, then a chuckle slowly rumbles up from deep in his chest, "I think the honeymoon is going to have to wait about three months, baby..." An amused smile spreads back across his face, finishing with a soft, "Congratulations?"

Ashe can feel the weight of the crown as it manifests on her head and there's a moment she closes her eyes. Byron saying whoa makes her open them again though and she reaches up to touch things, "Apparently the Wyrd didn't like my height joke." she states. Then she reaches out to touch his cheek, "We'll go somewhere warm and sunny and scare drunks after Autumn is over." she murmurs to him.

Byron chuckles softly at her words, and winks, "Look at it this way. We have three months to plan the best escape, right?" His hands shift to cradle under her rump again so he can support her weight and smile down at her, "I suppose I should take you home...my Queen...before people see your new jewelry and rumors fly with little jet wings across the land?"

"That we do." Ashe tells him with a soft smile. Then she leans in to kiss his cheek, "Here's to not running to annul the marriage the same day." she whispers to him. "And home and privacy and peace before the storm sound lovely. Yes." she tells him as she looks to him.

Byron tucks her in closer against his chest and murmurs, "Annul? Oh, nonono. You are so stuck with me, beautiful. I better wear you out tonight, because I think you're going to end up exhausted quite often for the next three months, before I ever touch you..." He winks at that and turns to start back down the bridge, intent on taking her home before the 'YOur Highness! We need to talk!" starts.
