Selina comes to get sworn in to the Freehold.

Location

The Whelan Chronicle

It's mid afternoon for anyone who works at the Whelan Chronicle and that's not a lot of people given it's a cover business for the Custodians. Ashe is set up in the conference room with her laptop and going through old reports. There's a black vampire bat with red eyes that balances on the laptop, "Why did you get a big ass bat?" he asks the woman sitting in the chair. "To make traveling the Hedge a bit easier, Uvall." she tells him as she works for a few more minutes.

It's been raining, now, for days. Thankfully, there's not enough fur on Selina (at least currently) to bring the scent of wet canine along with the gentle rasping of knuckles against the door frame. But those furred ears do flick to pick up sounds as woman and bat speak, and golden eyes do a quick assessment of the room before doing the same to Ashe and the bat - and laptop. "Hope I'm not interrupting," she offers in a voice that holds the 'somewhere in America' accent that national newscasters have. A flash of smile, without teeth.

Ashe gives a shake of her head when she hears the voice, "No, not at all. Just doing some work during downtime." she chuckles to that as she stands up. "I know that didn't make sense." she adds. "Come on in and have a seat." she offers with a smile full of stitches. "My companion here is upset with me because I finally got a fae mount. So, he's been sulking." she muses quietly to Selina.

"Oh, I totally get it. There's work, and then there's Work." Selina's chuckle is a raspy thing, and what was briefly seen of lips proves to be nothing more than a play of light, a shift of shadows before they deepen once more. Her fingers claim the back of a chair, pulling it out before folding down into it. Traces of ice hold to the ends of her hair, beginning a slow melt in the presence of mildly warmer Autumn. "I imagine that he'd sulk quite a bit more if you tried to ride him about." A glance to the bat, the door, and then back to Ashe. "I've been terribly rude, in not seeking you out sooner. I believe you were told I was hoping to pledge, but I got...caught up. Selina."

"Would you like anything to drink?" Ashe asks as she settles back down in her chair. The bat gives a look to the Autumn and then skitters down to the table, up her arm and up her arm to disappear into her hair. Then there's a laugh, "Right? I can't do that." she agrees with Selina. Then there's a shake of her head, "No, that's fine. I know that Cornelius mentioned that you wanted to pledge but schedules have not lined up so I'm just happy that they did finally." she admits. "I'm guessing that one of the Waykeepers have had you read the Laws as well?" she asks.

Selina shakes her head, fingers stretching out on the table. "No, thank you." A flash of those golden eyes, and another chuckle for Ashe. "Ah, good of Cornelius. I'm sure that he'll be pleased to find out that we've managed to connect - whenever he just wills himself into existence out of nowhere, again." Despite the look of long-suffering, the wrinkle at the corner of her eyes gives away her amusement. "And yes, I met with...November, it was. She gave me the low-down."

Ashe gives a chuckle, "He is amusing. I hope that he sticks around to help the Freehold out as well." she admits. "He was at the Harvestmen meeting a few weeks ago so I figured he would be." she adds. Then there's a look to her when she talks and there's a nod to her when she confirms that she's spoken to November and the laws have been read, "Are you ready to take the oath now?" she gives her a moment to make sure that she is.

"He'll disappoint me, if he doesn't. No one likes someone that's all words, and no action." Selina's clawed fingertips click against the table, a cascade of sound, before they still once more. Those cosmos-filled eyes lift, settling on Ashe's own black and silver, holding them. "You don't seem like you're all words, from what I've heard from various sources. I'm ready to give the Freehold the rest of your Season."

"You know, if you reenact Misery and break his legs he can't get away." Ashe tells her as she chuckles to that. She's just joking. Yes. Probably. Then she gives a look to Selina and there's a dip of her head, "I'm trying to do what I can while I have the time. Sitting on my ass gets nothing done." she admits to that. "Repeat after me." she states.

"I pledge my time, my talents and my fealty to Fate's Harvest.

I swear that I no longer serve the Fae, nor will I while this promise stands; that while I am under its protection I will obey the principles and bylaws of the Fate's Harvest Freehold as ratified by Monarch and Council, in return for the support and safety they provide.

May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn."

Selina gives a snort of laughter, and it lingers in her voice. "You, you I like," she murmurs, a keen light shining in her eyes. And then, like the flick of a switch, the coyote woman is suddenly as serious as the grave. May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn." Words repeated, clipped and measured, as if reciting a poem or a eulogy. "Winter has voted me as your Sun Banisher," she adds, after.

Ashe gives a big smile to that, pulling at the stitches in her face. She liked surprising people. But she does sober when words are repeated and the weight of the Wyrd settles over Selina's shoulders. She takes a small box from a drawer on the table and pulls a pin from it. One is handed to the Winter, "Welcome to Fate's Harvest, Selina." she tells her with a smile. "This is just a token of my gratitude for you pledging for the season." she tells her. "Also, congratulations on the position. We will probably need you in the coming months with all of the weirdness that's going on." she admits.

Selina reaches out, fingers taking the pin. Playing it between her finger tips, rolling it to see the colors. Her eyes flick back up to Ashe's face, and there's another soft chuckle. "Thank you, Your Spookiness," she says with a dip of her head. "I heard that things here were...interesting. I look forward to seeing what Fate has in store for me." A roll of her left shoulder, and she's sliding the pin safely onto the lapel of her shirt. "And to helping out. I should let you get back to work."

Ashe gives a grin to that, "You're welcome, Selina." she tells her with a dip of her head to the woman. "And they are. I'm hoping that come Winter we'll have a few things ironed out and making some headway with our own. But, patience on my part." she chuckles. Then she stands as she closes the laptop, "I actually need to head over to the Wayhouse for a bit so I will walk you out if you don't mind to terribly?" she asks her.

"We're hoping to hit the ground running, when the seasons change. Having an active Queen before that certainly helps." Selina rises up to her feet, shaking her head. "And I don't mind at all. Beyond being the Sun Banisher, if you have any new arrivals fresh from There that need paperwork with all their t's crossed and i's dotted? Just give me a holler," she notes, as she gestures to the door.
