Haruki and Hex do the scavenger hunt, but it goes disastrously. Scavenger Hunt

Location

"The Scavenger Hunt is so much fun," Haruki informs Hex as they step into the bar. "You'll really enjoy it, and it helps with getting to know the city too. There should still be some forms left. The greatest prize though is friendship!" He's maybe babbling a bit. "You want a drink?"

Hex is talked into going out. He does tend to wander, himself, and he does scavenge, so a scavenger hunt sounds intriguing. So he tags along. Once there, he grabs a a form and fills it out. For the first time. That'll likely happen many times over the course of the evening.

He glances at Haruki and shrugs, "I don't really drink much, not and then, but it usually doesn't end well." Then again, nothing does, ever. "And shouldn't we keep a clear head to find whatever it is we're finding?"

"Oh," Haruki says. "Yeah, I usually just prefer water. Or juices. I love carrot and ginger juice. It's so good. Smoothies too are nice, although they can get sweet." As they're talking, at the bar, a nearby man is casually chatting to a girl, distracted, his beer sitting half-forgotten beside him. "So, I've got most of the clues. I've no idea what 'The current is fast, but I am slow. You'll find me on the west side.' Could be referring to. Somewhere by the river I think?"

Hex nods to Haruki, "Water, juice, tea. I like tea, for some reason." It was considered the richest thing to many people at one point. "My friend Lucky brought me a bottle of liquor with actual gold in it, though, which was pretty cool. I still have it. It's pretty when you shake it up." He smiles, his silvery eyes bright at the memory. He does love looking at gold. And speaking of gold, he is wearing that golden, chain-link bracelent around his wrist. As well as a couple rings and that necklace, but he was wearing those last time.

He glances towards the two talking about riddles, then back to Haruki, "You think they're doing it, too? What clue are you on? I want to help? Is it the same one?" The bartender arrives and asks for their drinks, then rolls his eyes as Hex orders a couple waters, then a couple juices, then just gives in and orders a couple beers because the bartender just isn't having it. At least they won't get kicked out.

Haruki brought Hex a bottle of Goldschlagger too. He smiles and nods. "It is pretty. There's a japanese tea ceremony with actual gold in the tea. I'd think though, it'd be better just having gold cups to drink from? At least that's reusable." Haruki glances to the couple.

"Hey, no cheating!" The guy declares, as he turns around to berate Hex, he elbows his own beer, sending a flood of liquid splashing across the bartop, onto Hex's scavenger list.

Hex nods at Haruki's words. "Gold in the tea? I hadn't heard about that one. But I know about Kintsugi. I have a few pieces. It's... beautiful, really." He smiles, almost whimsically, at the thought of it. "Gold cups? Well, I'm not sure I could actually drink out of them. It seems like a waste of a gold cup." Nevermind that it's a /cup/. And being used for that purpose. To him, it seems wrong. Gold is to be admired.

He looks at the guy as he's accused of cheating, then back at Haruki, "I don't actually know what the rules are. I'm just along for the ride." He looks over at the man. "I hope beer wasn't one of them." He smiles wryly.

Haruki and Hex are sitting at the bar, with six drinks about to be delivered in front of them. The bartop's soggy from a beer that just spilled all over Hex's scavenger hunt list. And there's a guy, on his feet, glowering at the two. The guy mutters a slur under his breath, not even apologising for the mess. The girl he's with suggests that they go elsewhere, taking their own list with them. "You'd better not follow us!" He is quite drunk.

Haruki grabs a pile of napkins and is trying not to make eye-contact and just mop up the mess.

Oliver is coming into the entrance of the bar. He's not wearing his usual top hat tonight but rather a black cowboy hat instead. He loks rather splendid in this fabulous piece of haberdashery, and he knows it. Men and women ooh and aaah as he passes by and he acknowledges them with a nod here and a royal wave there. He moves slowly but surely to his personal fan club seated on the other end of the bar. He crouches down behind the drunken asshole so that Hex or Haruki can push him backward.

Hex blinks as the man glowers at him. He didn't even do anything. Granted, he's used to causing bad luck, so he's not surprised. He's a little offended, though, "Well, you don't have to be /rude/. You're going to the wrong place, anyway." He waves the man off. Is he going to the wrong place? Maybe yes, maybe no, but regardless, Hex just instilled that doubt in his mind. He turns back to Haruki, just in time to catch sight of Oliver entering across the room, moving closer, and crouching down.

He hesitates a moment, because he's more used to causing bad luck /accidentally/, but with Oliver already in place, the temptation is too great. He reaches out and shoves the man. It's a quick, precise motion, like he knows just where to hit, the perfect point of balance, to use the smallest amount of effort to shove the man over.

He immeadiately looks guilty.

How can Haruki fail to notice Oliver's entrance. He looks over that way, but there's no actual waving from him. He just seems to assume Oliver'll be coming their way. He doesn't think twice when Oliver seems to crouch down to tie a shoelace.

The man's drunk. "Like you'd know, fucking fag!" And then he's tripping over backwards, going right over Oliver, arms flailing as he tries to catch his balance. He sends more drinks flying, splashing Haruki and Hex, and then grabs for the girl to keep himself up right. Her dress rips, she cries out "get your hands off of me!" and shoves him and he lands in a tangled heap on the ground.

All Haruki can seem to do is stare at the farce happening in front of him.

Oliver rises to his full height and holds up his finger with a spec of dust on it. "Damn. -That's- not my contact lens." He shrugs and steps over the supine man, making sure to kick him in the head subtly as he does so. He moves a stool into tight with the others and slides onto it. Hex gets a rough kiss and Haruki gets and quick headlock and smooch on the head.

The look of guilt disappears as the man calls him a fag. In fact, at that point he smiles, because he knows what's about to happen. And sure, he gets doused in alcohol. And Haruki gets doused in alcohol, and the girl's dress gets ripped. He does feel bad about that part, though, and so he's moving towards her, to help, even as Oliver's moving towards him. He bonks his head against one of Oliver's horns and stumbles back, just in time to accept that rough kiss. He really should wear a helmet.

When Oliver's turning to Haruki, Hex's attention turns towards the man and the woman, still wanting to help the girl, "Ma'am, are you ok?" He's sliding out of his own jacket, after a little pocket shift shuffle, and then he's offering it to her.

Oliver tells the two of his friends. "I can't stay. I have a lead on a renegade on the other side of town and am going to pay him a visit. But let's hook up in a couple of hours?" He makes his goodbyes and heads out.

"Sarah!" The man cries out, and then Oliver's kicking him in the head, and he yells in pain and the girl, she's glaring angrily, muttering, "It's Cara!" while trying to keep her dress up. And there's beer everywhere! And It's a disaster. And Haruki's just still kinda staring, at least until Oliver blocks his view. "Hey? What the hell just happened?"

And there's bar staff springing into action. One helping the drunk guy up, and telling him he's probably had too much to drink, and another with a cloth wiping up the mess. Haruki knows what he needs to do, which is peel a $20 out of his wallet and offer it as a tip for the whole fiasco and hopefully no one will mind the chaos.

And Cara she turns to Oliver, strill trying to hold her dress up. "Tinder! Never again!" She says. "You're sweet. Just forget him. He was a total douche." She takes the jacket from him which at least helps preserve her modesty. "I'm going to get an uber home. Where can I return this?"

Hex seems to take it all in stride, more or less. He tries to help, but really it's probably his presence that caused it all in the first place. And so he just offers that jacket, which is a sincere enough gesture, and says, "All that Glitters. A pawn shop downtown. Open most days. We also buy gold, so if you have anyway you want to sell..." He can't resist.

Then he's turning towards Haruki, "Um, uh, we should probabl go. Maybe Netflix wasn't such a bad idea after all." Because this happens all the time. Everywhere he goes.

Cara smiles at Hex, makes her excuses and leaves.

Haruki's's not quite ready to give up. He may be damp with beer, but he still wants to do the scavenger hunt with Hex. "It's okay, we can just get another form." He picks one up and hands it to Hex. "And we can be treasure hunters, like Indiana Jones." He starts heading for the door. "Unless you did really want to see more Netflix?"

Hex watches Cara leave, and her Tinder date thrown out, then looks back at Haruki, "That could have gone worse." He smiles, wryly, "You must be my good luck charm." At his question, he considers, then shakes his head, "No, let's do it." He accepts another form, shaking his head, but he's smiling at Haruki, "Ok, so let's find these things. You know, I have a little trick for finding things."

And then he's heading outside, now jacketless. It's a bit chilly, so he keeps close to Haruki. Summers, they have it so good. Still, he seems down for the hunt, still holding his form in his hand.

He probably should have put it in his pocket.

A sudden wind picks up, catches the form and pulls it out of Hex's hand. Haruki's words are stopped as he tries to give chase to the form, but there's no way he's catching it. He just laughs. "Another form? Or we can just go Netflix a bit, and then maybe come back tomorrow? It'll probably be better anyway tomorrow."
