Meeting Ash

"I am Ash."

Participants

Ash and Isolde

2017.09.04

Isolde stops by the Wayhouse to check in and finds an Ash.

Location

The Wayhouse

It's a clear day and a bit warmer than it has been around town. Isolde's days off are a rarity so she's stopped in at the Wayhouse to check in and see if there's any need for hedge fruits or things of that nature there. She's dressed for work though, just in case her phone goes off and she has to run for an emergency. There's a smile to the Waykeeper on duty as she chats a bit with them.

You post your note about 'Garden Repair Scene Cancelled' in group 40 (Greenies) as message #30

Ash sits in the front room of the Wayhouse talking with one of the Waykeepers, which really means that for the most part the Waykeeper is doing a lot of the talking and Ash is listening, perhaps with the occasional nod of his head. As Isolde arrives, however, the tone quickly changes.

"This is the person I was just talking about a moment ago, Miss Isolde Garreau," the young Waykeeper says, gesturing in your direction.

Ash slowly seems to unfold from the seat he was dwarfing with his bulk a few moments ago, straightening to his full height. He plods over to you and extends an oversized hand before saying a bit thickly and with perhaps intentional comedic overtones, "I am Ash." This is quickly followed with, "I am pleased to meet you," before there can be any concern that his entire vocabulary might be limited to three words.

Isolde quirks a curious eyebrow when she hears her name and she turns a little to look at the two in the other room. A bit of a smile to the other Waykeeper. She watches as Ashe approaches and there's a nod of her head as she reaches out to take the hand, "Doctor Isolde Garreau." she introduces herself. "It's nice to meet you, Ash." she tells him. "Were you looking for a Greenie or a Doctor?" she asks with a smile.

"I am here to help," Ash responds. His skin as he shakes hands is rough and his hand dwarfs hers but he is very careful as he shakes hands, not wanting to damage the doctor's tools of her trade. His voice sounds like a couple of bolders as they are being sent through a rock-crusher with the delicate overtones of a bugling moose. "We heard that you are rebuilding your gardens," he says, "so the Bridge Master who has been training me told me that I should come to you to offer my services."

Isolde is a very solid woman, so she doesn't try to play dainty with the handshake, there is a smile to him though. Not to mention her hands are weathered due to her Entitlement. "Fantastic. We can always use more help. It's been rather sparse as of late." she tells him with a bit of a frown. Then there's a small 'ah' at his revelation, "Well, that is even more splendid. Bridge Masons do spectacular work." she admits. "I'm guessing as a new arrival that you are waiting to join the Freehold?" she asks him.

Ash gives a slow nod of his head. "Yes," he says before sweeping out an arm in the direction of the Waykeeper he was talking to earlier. "He was just starting to help me out when you showed up. Because the gardens are part of your freehold I assumed I would need to take the freehold's pledge before I would be allowed to work on it."

Isolde gives another smile, "Excellent." she nods to this. Happy to have more prospective Greenies! "And yes, I tend to check in when I have some time off at the hospital." she admits. She then gives a look to him, "Yes. The Greenies are a Freehold subgroup, so one must be in the Freehold and then can join up with us. We just took on another recruit last night as well." she explains.

Ash nods his head once more. "I am very familiar with the growing and effects of many different types of goblin fruit as well as mundane plant," he says. "When I escaped it was decided that I should study both hedge plants and regular plants as a method for helping me readjust to living in this world. I was also told that I should ask you about a job at the local nursery."

Isolde gives a smile to his abilities and there's a nod, "Very good. We're definitely grateful for the skills you bring, Ash." she tells him. There's a look to the flowers that sit in her hair as he talks on it helping him readjust and she gives a gentle smile, "Probably not a bad way to have gone about it." she admits. "If you are talking about plant nursery then I can direct you to Ian Brennan, he's another Greenie, former Grandmaster. He has a nursery that I'm sure could use help." she tells him.

Ash smiles and says in his halting style, "Thank you. I will try to find him and talk to him about a job. I feel it is very important for me to interact with people so that I can stay grounded. I will find Ian Brennan and ask him about the job."

"Staying in touch with the real world is good for us. Unless you are closer to the Wyrd and need to spend more time in the Hedge." Isolde tells him. "If you need help with finding your way around or anything, please let me know. And if I can't point you in the right direction, I know someone that can." she states with a smile. "And hopefully the Waykeepers can get you in to see Queen Helah soon." she adds.

Ash nods one more time. "And after I have met with her I should come to see you again so that I can join the Greenies?" he asks. "Where would be a good place to find you?"

Isolde gives a gentle nod to that, "Yes. And wherever you would be most comfortable at. I can come here or I have a place called Harvest Moon that has a private meeting room for Changelings." she offers. "The Freehold garden is also a place to meet." she adds to that.

Ash smiles once more. "Thank you very much," he says. "I will talk with the Waykeepers and meet with the Queen and then I will meet with you again."
