Gisa comes downstairs late at night to find a satyr in her back room.

Location

MT03 - Tamarack Falls Jewish Books

Sid was sitting still downstairs checking his phone, wine set aside, but food almost entirely eated. It was quiet when Gisa came back down from making sure teh Spadinard found rest well enough upstairs, and everyone else was either not here yeat for the nightly noshings or have taken off.

Trundling back down the stairs, Gisa calls, "Sid, are you still down here, boychik?" Her movements are careful and considered, and she stops to pick up a book that a customer left out earlier, and tucks it back into the shelf. She tidies on her way back to the back room. "Ah. There you are. Have you eaten enough?"

Sid muttered, "No, never. I know better. I will eat until I die just to be on teh safe side." Aww it's like he rehearsed his lines. "I promise you if anyhting ever happens to me it won't be from malnutrition. It's because I can't keep my ding dang mouth shut." He looked back to the dark storefront windows behind them where the quiet sleepy streets of BFE Vermont were and back to her setting the phone down on his knee. "He alright?"

"Do not humor me, Sid," huffs the golem, coming back into the room. "He is tired. We went to go look for a hollow together, and he took the brunt of the hacking and slashing through the hedge." She settles down next to Sid and ruffles the satyr's hair easily with one hand. There's an ease about her with him that isn't so with many other folks. "How are you, really?"

Sid dipped his head in a nod grateful more food was not on his place. He was full but that was not an acceptable answer. Ever. Also it was weird because he had the metabolism of a garbage disposal. At teh question of how he was there was a noncommittal shrug and a furrow of his brow creased below hornline with some amusement coming to him "Isn't that generally my line these days?" OH to take up the mantle of Bishop was a lifetime of going 'dudeski, what's up?'. A vocation he didn't plan on so soon but did to assist the man that helped save his life in the sands, Saul. He didn't take that lightly as he does so many other things. "I dunno honestly? Still really numb on a lot of issues. It's jut... when I got out? I tried looking up the crew I was running with. My traveling family. We was all taken together when those goo diggity bandersnatches showed. Killed everything else. I looked em up and the paper said bad collision. no survivors and the few animals we had with us?" He shook his head and admitted, "I liked that stupid tiger too. Sasha was kinda a dope but she was good to us and never ate my shoes." He blinked and nodded. That was a fair enough assessment

"Who watches the Watchers, and who asks the Bishops how they are doing?" Gisa ruffles the satyr's hair again, and settles in more fully, listening. Her expression goes back to default, a sort of resting golem face. "So you feel guilty?" That's the whole summation, on her side. "Or are you just missing them? Or both?"

Sid paused and took a deep breath. "I don't feel anymore. Relly. I missed them. It was devastating and then I just accepted it like the last few times I was the last man standing. I mean it's jsut been a thing I sorta got used to. I was six when I saw my dad die in a wreck. Seventeen when I was in teh car Manny rolled on the Mass Pike. Lost both Mannie and Teddy. I was in the hospital forever. This... was really just more of the same and it hurt. Don't get me wrong there's like a hole and there' always gonna be a hole there but like I walked away from having expectations cause that shift will eat you up. But yesterday? Helicopters, Gisa. Yesterday I ran into one of them and she was alive. She wasn't even taken. She escaped being taken and froggen lived."
