Catching Up With The Abhorsen

"What have you been up to?"

Participants

Aaron and Ashe

2017.03.13

Aaron and Ashe get to catch up since Boston.

Location

Forefathers' Burial Ground

Ashe really didn't want to talk about stuff in public. Nor with prying eyes or ears. So she'd asked Aaron to meet her at Forefathers' Burial Ground for a chat. She's dressed warmly as she stands near a tall gravestone and whispers to something unseen for the moment. There's the tendrils from her breath that hang in the air as well.

is seen making his way through the burial ground, dressed in a warm top coat that wraps around his lithe frame. Beside him, the ghostly presence of someone that bears a familial resemblance to him. Once he's within earshot of his familiar friend, he offers a light smile. "I appreciate the location for a meeting. Hopefully, the dead are quiet enough to allow us time to talk."

Once Aaron is close enough, Ashe gives him a smile, followed by the Shadowsoul stepping in for a hug, "They are usually quiet here, though your companion might draw curiosity." she muses softly. Then she steps back and offers the darkling a dip of her head, "It is very good to have you here." she tells him.

Aaron glances beside him. "Sasha knows when to remain hidden..." he looks at her brotherly. "When she wants to be..." The ghost gives him the bird. "But she is who she is, and even being a part of the living impaired hasn't changed her personality. Much." He looks back to you. "I'll say the same thing. I was surprised to see a familiar face in these parts. Didn't expect it. Why the change from Boston?"

Ashe can't see Sasha, but she gives the woman a wave, apparently not minding the dead woman. Then there's a look to Aaron, "Well, my marriage ended and Boston was just holding bad memories. Decided that it was better to get a fresh start, so I did." she smiles to that. "And why have you guys moved?" she asks curiously.

Aaron nods. "There wasn't much else for me in Aleswich. The familial presence has been revitalized in town after years of barely a Fletcher in sight. My parents passed on, and once I was able to reunite with my sister, I decided that it was time for me to move on as well. Shift my focus from counselor to writer. I've been really good at penning a tale or two. Thought I'd give that a chance to thrive. Less stressful as well."

There's a bit of a smile from Ashe and there's a nod to Aaron, "I approve of it. New starts and in a new place with a familiar face. It'll be good." she grins. "I run a newspaper here. Also the head of a group that collect occult lore and things for the Freehold. I'm thinking you'd be a shoo in for the Custodians." she admits.

Aaron raises an eyebrow. "The cus-what?" He offers a smile. "Custodians? Sounds like a janitorial group."

Ashe gives a laugh, "There's a lot of subgroups that the Freehold has. Like the Harvestmen, Greenies and all of that. We kinda have the job of collecting Lore and being on top of the Occult game." she explains to him.

Aaron still looks at you strangely. "Greenies? Harvestmen? Was the originator of the freehold an Oz-fan? I feel like these are all things I'd associate with Oz and creatures like Wikies, and Wheelers..." He laughs a bit. "Alright. So the Custodians, you say that I'd be a good fit for them?"

Ashe gives a look to Aaron and there's a chuckle, "You know, I'm not sure if they were. Could be a possibility." she admits. "And yes, given your Abhorsen like knowledge keeping I think you'd be a big asset to us." she nods to this.

Aaron smirks. "Yeah. That alias never gets old..." he places hand in pockets. "Even more fitting now. Alright. So what would be my next steps? What is this Freehold like anyway? What's you assessment on them?"

"It fits you." Ashe tells him with a bit of a stitched smile. "And the Freehold seems to be excellent. I've been here long enough that I've got some good influences. Just think you'll need to meet the rest of the Court and meet the others that help to run things." she tells him.

Aaron nods. "I caught wind that you're organizing a gathering of those of the court? I hope I'm able to meet some of the prior to that, if not all active members within the area."

Ashe gives a nod to Aaron's question, "Aye, I am. Given we have new members incoming, I thought it was prudent to get a meeting on the table. You'll have to meet Byron. He's a pretty amusing character." she tells him.

Aaron nods. "You saying that definitely means I need to meet this individual." He then loops back to something. "I eventually should look for a place to hang my hat a bit more permanent here in town. Any recommendations on neighborhoods?"

"He works at the paper, loading dock guy. I think you'll like him. He's a fellow Autumn as well." Ashe nods to that. "I don't actually know a good place. I live in the loft above the paper, like I did in Boston. I think I can get you the name of one of the Waylords and they can point you in a good direction." she smiles to that.

Aaron nods slowly. "Way-what?"

"It's another group, hospitality people. They make sure people get settled." Ashe tells Aaron. "How about we get out of the cold and go get a coffee or something. My treat." she grins.

"You had me at 'coffee.'" He smiles and gestures. "Lead the way."
