Cassian and Isolde

Cassian finds Isolde in the garden taking stock and they talk about him helping. A Greenies log.

Location

The Ruined Garden

It's a bit late, but that doesn't stop people from venturing into Stoneheart. One such person would be Isolde Garreau. The rubenesque brunette is assessing the garden a bit. Stopping at each plot to check the state of the flowers and to pluck a dead vine from things. She's got a look of concentration on her face as she works. So it might be easy to sneak in on her.

Cassian had been curious, but it took Etsy insisting he see it for himself for him to venture to Stoneheart. He'd only be settled on a wall for a moment before he noticed the woman. He was sure this was the right place. Stooped low, crouched on the wall, the knife-ear makes himself known after a few silent moments. "Looks like the Hedge won out, here," it says.

Isolde isn't keen to people sneaking, but she at least doesn't jump out of her skin. The woman gives him a look, "It's not nice to sneak up on people." she clucks her tongue at him. Then she looks back to the garden and there's a sad look, "Yes...it has. Trying to work to remedy that. Just need to get more Greenies in to help with it." she states. Then a look back to him, "Were you looking for a Greenie?" she asks him.

"Not for a Greenie, specifically," he says. His eyes shift over the ruin a moment in thought. "They're feral," he says, eyeing the mass of encroaching tangles. "I was encouraged to come here. To seek out the Garden. A Mermaid told me," he says softly. "So, I came. And found a Garden. And a Greenie," he adds.

"Yes. They are." Isolde states as she turns to look of Cassian. There's a bit of a nod, "Ah yes. Etsy." she states. Then there's a bit of a smile, "I'm Isolde Garreau, Greenie Grandmaster." she offers in greeting. "Are you looking to become a recruit then?" she asks him.

"I don't know," Cassian says quietly, as his gaze shifts around the garden. "I'm not one for groups of people and having people expect things of me. But," the knife-eared Darkling says, "But, then there's this." His words were a little pointed, but, they seemed more sad than anything. Was he capable of sad? Something in that spectrum.

Isolde gives him a curious look and then there's a brief look over his person. "High wyrd emotions can always be so fickle." she tells him. Then she looks back to the garden, "Yes. It is rather heartbreaking." she admits. "But I'm working to fix it. Wish we had more Greenies to help, but we've been low on them." she frowns as one of the flowers in her hair wilt a bit. "What is your name? I don't think I've seen you about before. Then again I might have missed you." she muses.

"My name is Cassian," he says, softly. His shadowy eyes fall back to her after a few moments. "I didn't think there was a shortage. But, then, I get distracted easily. I can only recall the one," he admits.

"It's nice to meet you, Cassian." Isolde states as she inclines her head just a little. "And we've been dwindling slowly. A few changes in leadership and things will do that." she states with a frown. "So rebuilding is a theme for us." she explains. "What do you specialize in?" she asks him.

Cassian considers that for a moment, before snickering. "That's a very complicated question. I'm talented in a lot of things," he says, "But, I do have experience in taming this region's Hedge and creating a solid ecosystem. And using that ecosystem to support a self-sufficient garden capable of producing Fruit that I sell at Market," he offers.

"Which of us isn't complicated, Cassian?" Isolde chuckles softly. She then starts to pace, "So you're good at taming the hedge and creating things. You have a good attachment to the hedge and what grows." she nods to that. "Would you be willing to put those talents to work for the betterment of the Freehold and its subgroups?" she asks him plainly.

"I'd rather put my talents to the betterment of ensuring these gardens are properly maintained," Cassian admits coldly. "What is the Pledge?" He asks. Cassian's skin didn't really have an eyebrow--Just ridges above the shadowy orbs that piqued curiously. He shifts in his crouch a moment, like a nocturnal predator made uneasy.

Isolde gives a look over the Darkling and there's a nod to him, "I'd be grateful for the help." she tells him. Then there's a quirk of one golden eyebrow, "Pledge?" she asks. Then she shakes her head, "We are not bound by a pledge. If you choose to join you'll be a recruit for a little bit and then promoted to full Greenie. I'm guessing it won't take long for you, Cassian." she tells him with a smile.

"Fair enough," he says, "As long as there's no daily recitations or constant denegration using the term Recruit. That doesn't foster a good give-and-take," he admits, "But I'm not entirely unreasonable."

Isolde chuckles at that, "I will not call you a recruit on a daily basis, but that is your title within the group until you gain the rank of Greenie. So sometimes you will be referred to as Recruit, but not in a bad way." she assures him. "We don't haze people. This isn't the army or a frat." she snorts.

"Understandable," he says, quietly, "As I said. I'm not unreasonable, except when I'm not. Which isn't often," he says, before pausing. "I ... I'm better with plants," he says.

"We will try to make sure that no one is negative. If something comes up, I ask that you come to me about it." Isolde tells him. "And I understand." she adds. "We'll get you working on plants, Cassian. We've got a garden work day coming up if you'd like to join us." she offers.

"I'll be here," he says, shifting again on the wall a moment. He considers her for another moment. "Are you familiar with the Hedge? Beyond the Bottle Tree forest is a set of Willows--There's three of them. Leave post on the third willow. The Hobs will ensure it gets to me," he says, referring to a means of communicating with him. It was also the entrance to Moonglade, but, that was less important.

Isolde gives a nod of her head to that, "Welcome to the Greenies, Cassian." she tells him with a warm smile. Some Spring she was. She didn't even hit on him! "And yes, I'm familiar with it. Not just a pretty face." she chuckles to that. "I'll be sure to send word there then. If you need anything from me I can be reached...a lot of places. Try here first." she states.

"Until next time," the Darkling says. He takes a final look over the garden before he slips backward, escaping back into the shadows. There wasn't much else left to say, and if he had a comment about her pretty face, it went unspoken.
