Vermont has very few gun control laws, and has among the most permissive laws in the United States regarding the purchase of firearms as well as their open or concealed carry.

This makes your life much easier, as a player, seeing as you don't need special Contacts to acquire most firearms.

You do, however, require a permit to hunt animals, and must always do so in the proper seasons.

The statements below include both long guns and hand guns.

• You do not need a state permit to purchase a gun.
• You do not need to register your firearm(s).
• There are no restrictions on assault weapons.
• There are no magazine restrictions.
• You do not require an owner license.
• You may carry open or concealed as long as you are a legal U.S. citizen or legally admitted alien, and not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms under the law.
• The State preempts local restrictions.
• NFA weapons are not restricted.
• Background checks are not required for private sales.

Gun dealers are required to keep a record of all handgun sales. It is illegal to carry a gun in a school building or bus, or in a courthouse.
