History
The Desrochers family has been in the area of Tamarack Falls since before it was a town, arriving in 1761 amidst a wave of younger hopefuls looking to expand their fortunes. While the family has never quite managed to get rich, they've never been poor, a long family tradition of passing down techniques and tricks of professional carpentry providing men and women alike with a means to earn their keep.
While these days the old family shop is out of business, none of the current generation having claimed it for their own, the family has found a new claim to fame in the fruits of two infamously charming brothers and their obsession with beer. Around thirty years ago, the beginnings of the I Feel Hoppy microbrewery began to take root in the small town up above the falls, and in the time since, the family has made a name for itself not for its woodworking, but for its quirky, friendly advertisements and some damn fine local beer.
It's family tradition to gauge the success of a party by how many decibels it hits before it's over, 'quiet' a foreign concept with so many boisterous boys. And there are many. The name is at no risk of dying out, and sisters, few and far between, are quick to be defended by their horde of male relations. Said male relations often enjoy the excuse to start a good fistfight for their troubles. Descended from a long line of Frenchmen, the majority of the family is, in fact, over the border in Quebec. Especially if named after older relatives, Desrochers sons and daughters tend to reflect that ancestry.
The local patriarch, Jacques "Old Jack" Desrochers, has only recently retired at the youthful age of 78, and often makes his children's, and grandchildren's, lives more "interesting" with unsolicited dating advice he found on "the interweb". Or by inviting them for supper with a stranger he thinks they might like. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's a surety that an invitation to his home out in the woods will not be dull. Two of his sons, Pat and Jack Jr., are co-owners of I Feel Hoppy, with an aunt, Celine, presently running the Desrochers pub and bar. She's getting on in years herself, and will be keeping an eye out for a likely successor.
Allies
- Miller Family - The two families share some general ideals. While the Millers have always had wealth, they have also always worked to earn it. When the Millers need an extra hand, and vice versa, they know they can trust the Desrochers.
- Lefevre Family - The Desrochers family has its own secrets, and the Lefevres can trust them not to pry into their own. The two have lived just across the river from each other for going on two centuries.
Enemies
- Alexander Family - While the occasional spat between the Alexanders and the Desrochers has gone on for years, the 'enmity' is more a matter of catcalls and casual mocking than any true acts of violence. They're both rough and tumble and they both do work for the Millers. Competition sometimes turns sour.
Holdings
The Desrochers family keeps to both the town and the city. They're fairly evenly distributed between the two, though the family home's still up in Tamarack Falls.
- I Feel Hoppy Microbrewery - WR08 - The brewery has both a gift shop and a brewing floor visitors are welcome to check out.
- Desrochers Manor - WR08 - The main family home. This is where the patriarch lives, and where anyone who hasn't yet found a home of their own is welcome to keep their childhood bedroom (or filch someone else's).
- Desrochers - FB04 - The family owns and operates the Desrochers pub down in Fort Brunsett, a popular watering hole and primary selling point for I Feel Hoppy's brews. While other bars in the state stock the brand, Desrochers gets new, experimental tastings first.
All family members may add a room/rooms to either the Desrochers Manor or I Feel Hoppy grid squares, assuming they want to have a home built on family property. There is a lot of land in the vicinity.

Supernatural
The Desrochers family has been in Tamarack Falls far too long not to have seen a few things more than they should have; living just on the west bank as they do, their general opinion is to deal with it and keep it quiet. If a granny happens to have a knack for seeing the future, well, that's that, then. Just listen to her advice and move along.
Other Families
- Alexander - If they'd get their hands out of everybody else's pockets, they might be worth a damn.
- Fry - Great to have on hand, if you can ever FIND one of them.
- Garreau - Intelligence isn't everything, but it sure earned them a lot of dough. Pity you can't buy common sense.
- Lefevre - Quiet, smart, damnedly clever. The Garreaus may have the booksmarts, but these? These guys are wise. We respect that.
- Miller - Stable, dependable. A little too rich for their own good, but their kids are mostly happy.
- Utridge - Can't quite put a finger on it, but we just don't trust those guys. They're hiding something. Great at marketing, though.
