Participants | 4 June, 2017 Haruki, Max and Alex gather to discuss amongst other things the strange invitation they received, changelings, and their powers. |
Location | |
It's a cheap hotel room, in probably not the best area of the city. However, it's where the mortals are having their secret meeting! Max and Alex are already there, waiting on Haruki who would have received a text to come on over. Max is currently standing and slowly moving around the room while rolling a joint. Because why not? "So, how are you settling into things? I mean, being able to see everything as it really is?" she wonders, watching Alex with both curiosity and interest. Haruki knocks on the door. He's dressed for running. "I don't really forget what I see so it's kind of intense. I mean, I have to pay attention to get it all but- how can you not? With all of this going around?" The young woman gestures vaguely toward the ceiling and then turns to look over toward the door to the hotel room. She moves as well, always expending energy in some small way as they talk, even if it's just to step back and forth. "I like being able to know. I always thought there was something but I could never prove what. So this s a pretty big deal, honestly." Alex takes a deep breath. "Just be wary of some of them. They think it's better that we don't know anything. Apparently the whole knowledge is power thing doesn't apply to us," Max replies with a small roll of her eyes. Placing the finished joint between her lips, she moves to answer the door. "Hey Haruki! Come on in," she invites him with a smile, opening the door wide enough for him to enter. "Hi Max," Haruki smiles. "It's good to see you." He looks at Alex, smiles and says "hi" then back to Max. "Hate to be a party pooper, but any chance you can leave smoking that for later?" He steps into the room and looks around. Alex takes a deep breath and then nods slowly, twisting a little so that she can look over toward Haruki. "Hi," Alex calls. She glances at her charm bracelet before adding, "MY name's Alex. Welcome to the party."S he doesn't comment on the smoking, instead giving Max a nod as she does. "There's always someone who thinks you're better off not knowing. I just troll my eyes and try to figure the angle they're working," she notes quietly. "Then you can see why they're a dick usually." Although she doesn't really argue it, Max gives Haruki a questioning look as she carefully sets the joint down. "Got asthma or something?" she asks with a raise of her brow. As Haruki steps in, she shuts and locks the door behind him. "We'll have to get a cooler place to have these little meetings," she notes, taking a quick glance around and chuckling. "Anyways. So, I figured it'd be a good idea for us of the Freehold to get together sometimes, offer support for whatever, share information, and whatnot. Like the court stuff they have, but, just for us." "Something," Haruki says to Max. "Meetings?" He looks around the room, and starts searching, pressing his ear to each of the walls, making sure the window's closed. No bugs? No one else listening. He's a little on edge. "Ah. Okay." "That sounds like a good idea to me," Alex responding slowly. She glances between the two and then takes a deep breath. "Not as grandiose as a court.Just... Make sure we all have backup. I get it. It's hard, being surrounded by people with all kinds of crazy powers. SOme of them think we're basically here to be playtoys." Alex rolls her eyes at that. "But some of them are also super nice. It just- depends, doesn't it. Anyway. I'm all for it." The hotel is cheap enough that it doesn't seem that the windows even open. At least not without a lot muscle and effort. Max gives a glance to Alex, raising her brow. "Who thinks we're supposed to be playtoys?" she questions. There's a pause before she adds, while looking between them, "I figure with these little meetings we can talk about the Lost of the Freehold, cheers and jeers sort of." She smirks. "Who to watch out for, both good and bad." Haruki glances to Alex when she mentions playtoys. He nods at what Max says. He seems maybe a little fidgetty and his gaze isn't quite settling anywhere. He finds a seat, pulls out a sheet of red origami paper from his things and starts folding it into a crane. Once finished he starts on another, and another. "I don't know. I ran into a couple of people who seemed to thin it would be fun to yank me around," Alex responds, shrugging as she shifts her weight a bit. "It's not like I got hurt or anything. But you know. People are jerks some times." Then her eyes are glued to the cranes Haruki is folding and she hardly looks anywhere else. "The- um, golem? I don't really do names well, sorry. She seems really nice?" A small frown appears on Max's lips. "What exactly did Gisa do to you?" she questions, moving to sit down on the edge of the bed. She stretches her legs out in front of her, her brows furrowing. "She's definitely one of the people I'd warn against. She's one of the people who thinks it's wise to keep us in the dark and ignorant." "Who yanked you around?" Haruki asks, concerned. He keeps making cranes, barely needing to look at them to do them, his fingers doing it automatically. He looks at Max, concerned. "I don't think I've met her." "Wait, wait. We're confused! Gisa didn't do anything. She seemed nice the like one time I met her." A beat. "I don't remember the name of the guy who was messing with me." Alex shakes her head then, wincing as she does. "He was just being a jerk anyway. Realized I didn't know what was going on and was playing little pranks with things he could make me see and stupid shit like that to see if I'd jump. I'm fine. We're just getting twisted in knots because I can't remember people's names." Max smirks faintly at Alex. "I asked who was messing with you and you said the golem. That's the only one I know about. Do you remember what this guy looked like?" Moving to her feet, she moves over to one of the drawers on the bedside table. She's pulling some stuff out, looking for something, and one of the things she casually sets out is that special invitation they all received! Of course, she doesn't know that, and currently isn't thinking much of it. Haruki's gaze goes to that invitation and for a moment he pauses in crane-folding. "That's fancy." He comments. "Is it junkmail?" He looks at Alex, concerned. "It's okay if you don't remember names. Just tell us to shut up if we're making you uncomfortable or pushing." "Hey, I got an invitation like that," Alex offers, tilting her head slightly as she does. "And, you know. He was tall and thin, I remember that. And moved... Like water. Let's come back to it later if I remember anything, we're just going to beat our heads against a wall right now." She shakes her head slightly, scowling faintly while she does so. "But, anyway. I am the last person who is ever going to be able to tell you who anyone is. I'll apologize for calling you guys 'hey, you' all the time in advance." "Huh?" Is Max's initial response as Haruki comments on the invitation. It's when Alex also points it out that she picks it up. "Oh, this? Not junkmail, nah. It just kind of appeared on my doorsteps. I think it might have been mailed to me by mistake because who would invite me to a fancy party? I mean, other than Logan but that doesn't count," she says with a chuckle. "You got one too?" she questions Alex. Then she gives Haruki a look. "How about you?" "Is there anything that helps you remember?" Haruki asks. "Is it face blindness or a problem with names? I'm okay being Hey you though." He nods. "I got one too. And that's strange. Wonder why we got invited? I assumed it was just junk mail." "I figured ditto on the junk mail. ANd no, it's not face blindness, it's- umm. Thing." Alex gestures a couple times before shakign her head. She is delving into a pocket and producing a notebook. A few quickly flipped pages follow. "Word Selection Anomia. Right. I can read it off a page but I can't- look. I have a book full of words for things I forget all the time." She holds it up. "Nouns. Verbs. THingies. Um." A beat and then she groans quietly. "Anyway. Real pain in the- you know. It's a problem, anyway. Now why are we all invited to a superfancy party somewhere? That's a bit of a trip." Studying over her invitation a bit more closely now, her brows furrow lightly. "Well. It could be something fun and randomly picked, or maybe it's a trap. Either of you interested in checking it out? Could be something worth looking into, even if just for a night of fun," she says with a grin as she sets the invitation down. "I bet I could get Logan to buy me some fancy clothes." Haruki pulls out his own phone to google that. He nods. "There any way we can help? It's okay though." He reads. "Oh, so you'll remember who I am, just have difficulty retrieving the data? Can your phone help with that? Um. Sorry. You'll have tried everything. With doctors." Back to the invitations. "Maybe everyone's been invited? Did Logan get an invite? You think he'd buy me some fancy clothes too?" Haruki adds. "It'd make sense to investigate this first. To find out who sent the invitation. How many people got the invitations. What this event is about? It's all sorts of mysterious." "I mean, I could use photo recognition stuff, I guess. But half the time it's just... Wrong. Kept mixing up my cousins." There's Alex rolling her eyes, but she's actually smiling while she does so. "I'd love to go. Could be fun to dress up. We could even match and make a night of it. After we- right. You know- carve up, science class... Cute green hoppy guys." A beat. "Damn it. *Explore* these things and figure out who sent it and why just in case it's something crazy." "If I knew who or what I was looking for, I could scry on the person. But, I can't exactly do that without /something/ to go on," Max replies with a light furrowing of her brows. "I could look into the future to see if going to the party would be a good idea or not. Or maybe get an idea of what might be waiting for us there," she replies with a curious look between them. "Though, the future isn't always set." "Is the invitation not something?" Haruki asks. "You should do those things though." He looks at Alex. "Can you do that sort of thing too?" "I can find the history of objects sometimes. With my mind? See what they were used for that mattered to people, get an imprint. But invitations are just... Paper. They don't usually mean a ot to the person who made them. I didn't get anything yet, at least. Sometimes I can get an idea of the history behind a specific place too?" Alex shakes her head slowly as she does so before taking a deep breath. "Peeking into the future is a nice one. At least we can know if going means we're definitely getting axe murdered. Or a million dollars. I like that one better. I've got the whole item scrying thing. And, um. You know. Zap." Alex quirks her lips into something of a frown but her expression shows she's already settled on the inevitable. "Like, I don't bother carrying a taser. You?" That's for Haruki, of course. "I can look into the past too," Max says with a small nod of her head. Then she glances to Alex. "Well, it could still give us a lead. Even if the person you see making the card isn't the one who sent them out, maybe they know who did?" she points out. "I can't do anything like that," Haruki admits, awkwardly. "No special powers." "I didn't get much of anything. But I am more than game for trying again now that I know I should actually care," Alex agrees immediately, nodding her head once as she does so. "Let's see if I find anything? Toss me one." She shoves her notebook into ap ocket before looking over at Haruki and nodding slowly. "Considering I woke up to mine after brain damage I wouldn't sell yourself short over that," Alex notes with a wry grin on her lips. "Your special power is your charm and cuteness. You can easily get anyone to like you and do what you want of them. If you wanted to," Max points out to Haruki with a playful grin. Then she glances over to Alex, nodding. "Let me know if you get anything. I'll try peering into the future when I'm closer to the location. It tends to work better that way when I'm not looking into a person's future." Haruki nods at Alex. "Yeah, I wouldn't want that. It just seems like everybody's got these special abilities, you know?" He blushes at Max's words. "Not really. You see how things went with Oberon. But um, thanks. I'm going to get going. Let me know what you find out?" He starts packing up his cranes carefully. "Sure thing. Phone numbers? I can even put your names next to them. I'm good with numbers, so it'll give me something to mark you off by if I forget, like, everything else." Alex rolls her eyes at that but she's still smiling while she does. "And then we can all let eachother know what we find. Sound cool?" Alex is still fidgeting a little bit, her gaze dancing back and forth between people. "Even with the whole situation with Oberon, you came out pretty unscathed. I'd figure a few scratches at most. You definitely came out of it all way better than he did," Max points out, then gives a small shrug of her shoulders. Moving to her feet, she starts to make her way toward the door to let people out. "That sounds good to me, Alex. I can give you a piece of paper or are you just going to input it directly into your phone?" Haruki'll give Alex his phone number before he leaves. He smiles. "If it helps give me a number then. But don't put anything on the phones. Phones can be hacked. They can also be used to trace our locations. Don't trust anything to the phones. We going to drop by this club at some point and see if we can find out anything about the party planners? Um anyway I got to go." Haruki pauses, looks straight at Max. And no, he's not going to answer. Unscathed. Right. "Yeah." Forced happy smile. "Just read it off. I don't forget numbers," Alex responds to Max helpfully. She nods once at Haruki then. "I'll know who it is by the number as well as a name anyhow. That works." Alex then gives her own number, allowing people to record it however they prefer, and takes a deep breath. "This has been fun. Next time I'll bring us snacks." |
