RT03 - River Tam - Challenge Rapids

Rocks beneath the water and the steadily increasing speed downslope both contribute to the slowly building rapids in this section of the river, broad shelves of stone and the occasional smooth gap affording a deceptive pattern for adventurous paddlers to ride through. The bridge is visible in the distance, as well as a noteworthy handpainted sign warning, succinctly, that Fool's Delight ahead is the gene pool's lifeguard.

The banks are rocky here, steeper, but not impossible to paddle over toward before the worst of the rapids. For ease of leavetaking, the east bank offers a long beach of pebbled earth along the inner curve of a bend in the river.
