"I can do that." | |

Walker shakes his head at the question. "That's not exactly how things work. We're not here looking for something. We just move from Freehold to Freehold and do what we can to strengthen and improve things while we're there. We're not hunters- we're Guides." "Tribbles." a voice off to the right states. When the hell did Ashe get there? No one will ever know. Creepy freaking Autumns. Then the woman takes a seat near where Maxwell is seated and there's a smile to the Waykeeper, "I've been running behind the last few days, my apologies." she tells him as she takes a small book from him. Then she looks back to Walker and Rowan, "How're you two doing today?" she asks them. "Ah," Rowan responds, getting the picture it seems. "Well, that's grand. Sounds like fun, either way." She considers, then adds, "Motley I was rolling with did something similar, I suppose, but a bit more...well, a bit /less/ useful, perhaps." The Fairest jumps visibly when Ashe arrives, giving the woman a suspicious look for a moment, then noticing the crown and raising an eyebrow, "Well, that lovely little rag doll works quick. I figured she was going to grill me another time or three before I got the chance to see the one wearing that fancy little accessory." She raises her mug, but the gesture is turned into a sweeping bow, before Rowan returns to her position holding up the counter, "Doing well, thanks for asking." She speaks with a thick Irish accent. Walker pauses as Rowarn discusses her previous Motley, head canted to the side for a moment, eyes askance, before he resumes his previous posture. He might have been just as surprised as Rowan at Ashe's vocal imposition, but he hides it better. He lets Rowan ramble, then turns as Ashe addresses them, smiling around the thick tusks poking from his lower jaw. "Doing well. Had a philosophical debate with little Ziv earlier. Seems I scared her off. Heard from Nat that Glitch got worked over last night, so I need to check in with them about that- I meant to be helping with that mess. And now, talking shop with miss Rowan here over a cup of tea. Would you or Maxwell like one? The kettle's still just short of boiling, wouldn't be any trouble." The silver striations in Ashe's eyes tick up when Rowan jumps and there's a curious look, "Haven't talked to Nathania, but here I am." she chuckles to that. "I'm trying to make sure I keep office hours so if people need me I'm easier to find." she states. "Excellent, good that everyone is doing good today. I heard that a group got caught in the hedge last night. I've sent word to a few of the Harvestmen. Glitch was at recruitment but I'm not sure how that went, hopefully he'll be alright." she states. She gives a shake of her head, "No, thank you though." she tells Walker. Rowan grins at Ashe, "Ah well. I suppose I'll wait until the knitting circle's officially given me a pass before pesterin' ya with business then." She considers the information of trouble and purses her lips, "Sounds like it was a busy night around here. Dangerous, I imagine, not that any place isn't, once you cross over." That seems to be all she has to offer on the subject. In fact, she probably could have stayed silent, but she gives the distinct impression of someone who rather likes the sound of her own voice. Walker tips his head as Ashe speaks of being easier to find, but holds his tongue on the matter. No need to tell the Autumn crown his obvious opinions on the monarch being easily located. As she turns down the tea, he nods and sips his own, listening as she speaks what she knows of last night's events. Then, Rowan's chattering, and it brings an earlier question to mind. "Your Majesty, a question, if I may. Do you know who I might speak to, were I interested in assisting the Custodians?" "No. I'm fine with being talked at. And I came in to see if anyone needed to be pledged in or anything. They keep a list here as well. Mister Walker here and I started the other day but business came up." Ashe nods to that. "So it's alright." she offers a stitched smile to Rowan. "And it's been fairly harrowing around here the last few months. Cybernetic Briarwolves that explode and cover you in oily puss are certainly something to kill from a distance. Or nuke from orbit." she muses. There's a look to Walker when he asks about the Custodians and there's a bit of a smile, "I'm the Custodian Elect, so that would be me." she tells him. Rowan grins at Ashe and nods, "Ah, well then, if the formalities are completed to your liking, then sure, I'd like to be pledged in." She pauses, wrinkling her nose in disgust, but seeming fascinated and a little...too interested, if truth be told, "Cybernetic Briarwolves? That's mad, like. I wouldn't want to meet one of them bad wolves on a dark night, sure. I'm not the best in a fight, but if anyone ever needs an extra set of eyes or what have you, I'm happy to come along and be a distraction, at the very least." "I'd like to complete what we started, when you're ready," admits Red, as Ashe mentions the pledging they'd been discussing. "And speak on the Custodians as well, if you've the time. I know Rowan'll need your time, too- I can be patient. Are there other positions the Crown is looking to fill for the Freehold?" "As long as the laws have been read to you and you understand what you are pledging to." Ashe states to Rowan. "And yeah, they are a bit fascinating to be sure. I want one. Just to poke with a stick when it twitches." the Autumn Monarch chuckles at that. "And we can definitely get people roped into things. Cassian was heading up the intel part of the hob army stuff, but haven't heard much on that. So might need to see where that's going." she admits. Then there's a look to Walker and there's a smile, "Well, if you'd like I can pledge you both in at the same time and then we can discuss Custodians a bit or at another time if you don't want to do it here. That's up to you. As for Freehold positions. There's more than a few of the Subgroups that need help within their ranks. Just depends on where you'd like to go." she admits. Rowan waves away Walker's comments about her needing attention, "Don't be silly my friend. Please, feel free to get done what you need doing while you've got the chance. I've just rolled into town. I've plenty of chances to get things done later, if I need to." She does seem curious about the answer to the questions about joining in with various freehold duties and tasks. She grins at Ashe and laughs, "Perhaps I'll hunt one down and bring it to you as a pet," she offers glibbly, though there is an undertone in her manner that suggests she's only half joking. She looks to Walker and raises an eyebrow, "I'm ready when you are, Boots." Walker tips his head at the offer to pledge them both. "That certainly works for me. And after, yes- I'd like to discuss what subgroups could use shoring up. There's various talents available to the Walkers, and knowing where to direct those efforts would be extremely helpful- or at least save me a rather lot of pointed conversation trying to find out on my own." Red grins, fingers lifted to rub the tip of one faintly curved tusk. Ashe gives a grin to that, "I think my husband would be mad at me for getting another pet and not having space for it." she muses to Rowan at that. The mention of pets brings a vampire bat scurrying out of her hair and perching on her crown, "No more pets" it hisses. Then Ashe points to it, "Uvall gets nasty when his space is invaded." she chuckles. "And I'd rather save people running around in circles to find out information about things. So I'm happy to answer questions about groups." she admits. "Alright. Bring it in." she tells them. "Repeat after me." she adds. "I pledge my time, my talents and my fealty to Fate's Harvest." "I swear that I no longer serve the Fae, nor will I while this promise stands; that while I am under its protection I will obey the principles and bylaws of the Fate's Harvest Freehold as ratified by Monarch and Council, in return for the support and safety they provide." "May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn." Rowan chuckles at the talk of pets, giving a little shrug and looking a bit mischevious. "Oh well, wouldn't want to upset the apple cart." When it comes to pledging, she carefully and politely recites the words, then wiggles a bit, as if trying out the feeling of a new article of clothing, "Hmm. First time I've pledged to a freehold. Not as life-altering as I'd always imagined it to be." This, noted with a slight hint of disappointment. "I pledge my time, my talents, and my fealty to Fate's Harvest." Walker kneels- perhaps not strictly necessary, but one does appreciate the classics. "I swear that I no longer serve the Fae, nor will I while this promise stands; that while I am under its protection I will obey the principles and bylaws of the Fate's Harvest Freehold as ratified by Monarch and Council, in return for the support and safety they provide. May I perish in exile, should I be forsworn." Only once he is finished, and his part in the pledge completed, does Walker rise and stretch a bit. It might have been delightfully classic, but his long-limbed form isn't built to scrunch. "Well, feel free to break it. I absolutely guarantee you'll find out just how immediately life-altering it can get." Once the words are recited, the weight of the pledge settles over their shoulders. Ashe gives a smile to both of them, "Welcome to Fate's Harvest, Rowan and Red." she states. "And don't kneel." she chuckles as she shoos Walker off his knees. There's a look to them and another smile, then she remember something as she pulls two tokens out of her coat pocket, "These are tokens for all that pledge to the Freehold during Autumn. You are free to wear them, toss them in the nearest garbage can or pawn them at the market. I just wanted to do something to show my appreciation to you." she tells them as she hands them the little pins. Rowan takes the token and examines it closely before offering Ashe an appreciative smile. She pins the little token to her sweater and offers a little bob of her head, "Thanks. It's a lovely little bauble." Walker does the same, taking the token and pinning it to the breast pocket of his flannel shirt. "It's quite fetching, isn't it? I rather like it." "You never know when you might have to jab someone in the eye with a pin." Ashe chuckles to that. "Now, you had questions for me?" she asks them. "And if we need to wait until another time I understand that as well." she offers. "I'm afraid it'll have to wait for another time, as you say. I've been here quite a while today, and I'll need to be getting back. I'll seek you out again, though, Your Majesty, to discuss what I can bring to the Freehold. In the meantime- Ashe, Rowan, and all other tree-named folk around here? Have a lovely day." Red tips an invisible cap and ushers himself out the door. |
