Reggie's promise of excitement and adventure does not disappoint. To begin with, he brings her to the Amazing Dangerbug. A dragonfly like contraption a little larger than a biplane ought to be. He helps her into the passenger seat, above and behind the pilot's. And then he climbs in himself. A lether cap and flight goggles are present for her use, and he himself puts on a set of his own. The wings begin to flap, gaining speed more rapidly than should be possible, and the craft lifts off vertically before darting forward out of Stonehearth and into the hedge proper. The rush is palpable as he points the nose towards the skies and pushes them both back into their seats with the force of the climb. Just as she's getting comfortable with that sensation, he evens out the climb which causes them both to lift out of their seats and strain their safety harnesses, only to whip the stick and rudder hard to the right, twirling them both around the central axis in a tight barrell roll. After a few rotations, he cuts out the spin with them upside down, staring at the loop trod from a thousand feet in the air, their shoulders and waist caught fast in their flight harnesses. All of that in less than thirty seconds. "Fancy something fun, luv?"
And then? Oh, and then. And then he's seating her in a huge dragonfly, whooshing her up into the sky, and treating her to flying that's on par with the very best of swimming. Maybe even better, because this is a little out of control, somethng she isn't in control of. And oh, she loves it. He can hear her giggling ang squealing, her hair flaring out behind her in a black flag dotted with white flowers. "Am loving a funs!" the siren trills, in that sweet siren call that begs sailors to crash on her shores. "Do a funs, lovely Reggie!"

Once more they're pressed back into the seat as the Dangerbug struggles for altitude. Their ascent stalls out, and the bottom once more falls out of the world as the craft tumbles ass over teakettle back towards the ground in an uncontrolled spin. The sun and the ground trade places repeatedly until Reggie snaps the stick and adjusts the rudder at a precise moment to send them climbing out of their dive once more, straight and level along the tops of the briars. He then snaps the stick again and puts them on a knife's edge, wings perpendicular to the ground in order to fly them between the tops of two particularly tall hedge trees. Then once more he levels them out and resumes a climb back towards the heavens again. Once they've gained a few thousand feet, he levels out their climb and calls back over his shoulder, "You'll want to keep your eyes open for this one, luv!" He points the nose downward once more, gaining velocity into the dive. Once the craft has reached a predetermined speed, he pulls back on the stick and sends them curling back upwards towards the heavens again. But the curling never stops, the push into their seats never abates, and the craft begins to loop back over itself until they ground once more looms large into view. This time 'overhead'. And again they return to the dive, completing the loop, until at last they level out once more, gliding across the tops of the briars. "Would you like to see the Adventure now? Or do you want to try flying yourself?"
She's incapable of making a sound that isn't delightful on some level, which is pretty much why it sounds like some sort of bizarre aria. And they keep their eyes open through all of it; their iron stomach doesn't even bother trying to empty itself. Witness her tiny mermaid toughness. "... f... flying? Me? Oh. Um. No, not yet! I think I am liking when a flyings are a thing that you do for mes," Etsy answers. Also, she's terrified of being responsible for the life and death of the both of them. "I think I am wanting to see the Adventure, and do a swimmings with you again." Her webbed fingers reach forward, and graze the side of his throat. Distracting the pilot probably isn't wise, but, well.
That's how he's able to hear her delighted gasp when the Adventure comes into view. "Such a sparklies!" she offers giddily, "Is probably so beautifuls from the insides also. You making it alls?" The wonder in her voice, and the naked desire for the airship, at least, would make such a meal for the Spring, were Etsy mortal. Alas, she is another Lost, and so it's just a nice thing to hear. Once they've landed, she unhooks her harness, accepts the hand up like a proper lady, and basically flutters out of the dragonfly craft. And the arm wrapped around her waist? Well, she yields willowily, leaning in to him. He's not the only one taking advantage. "My head of prettiness has been bumped many a time. If is a chivalrous to be helping, is permitted to do a helping," Etsy croons. Oh, come crash upon my rocks, sailor. Without her chaperone here, the mermaid is just full-on flirting. There's a surfeit of aquatic boys (or girls) in this town, and especially dashing otters. |
