So sometime after the mostly empty Autumn meeting, Byron can be heard thumping his way in downstairs. He's typically slow but easy to track, since, you know, big stone feet thumping their way upstairs and finally pushing the entry door open. His face, however, is a mask of concern and disturbance and possibly even vaguely upset over something, while he stops to empty his pockets, then clears his throat and looks around. He doesn't even lift his voice much, just asks the apartment in general, "Baby?" Ashe was dressed down from how she usually is. A pair of jeans and a black tank top were the clothing for today. Her feet are bare and there's a moment the hammering stops on the wall where she's trying to put up a picture. Her head turns and she quirks an eyebrow at Byron as he comes in. She notes the look on his face though and she hops off the chair to hurry over to him, "What's wrong?" she asks him in a concerned tone. Byron takes in a deep breath and does seem to brighten up a bit when he finally catches sight of her, bending down a little to scoop her up and hug her in close, while lumbering his way into the living area, "I know I never ask you about it, but you mentioned before, you're an Apple, right?" Stopping at the couch, he turns to sit down on the floor in front of it and sets her down on his lap, idly scritching at her lower back. Ashe doesn't mind being scooped up and hugged. This was the way in the world in short people land. She quirks one eyebrow and dismisses the shadows when he asks about her being an Apple, her head nodding as she looks to him curiously. "Aye, I'm a Legate for the Black Apple. What's going on, Byron?" she asks him. Byron nods slowly at the confirmation and chews on his lower lip for a moment when she asks, considering. Finally, he sighs and starts, "Inkblot asked me to take a look at some things he got off of a Lost out in the Hedge. He was talking about this guy acting all squirrelly and hiding from someone after him, so I don't know how intelligent it was for him to accept ANYTHING from someone like that, but...." He slowly shakes his head, and looks down at his hands for a moment, rubbing his fingertips as if they still have something distasteful on them, "I fucking TOUCHED it. He had a little bottle, looked like it had something alive inside, you know, like a moth or the like. It was a /fucking Title/. One of THEM..." He doesn't even specify which one, apparently concerned enough to not actually voice the name out loud." Ashe stays quiet while he speaks. Listening to him carefully. There's a moment of stillness when Byron tells her that he TOUCHED a True Fae Title. Then she shudders. "Where is it now?" she asks him carefully. "That's...that's not something that should be sitting around...it needs to be locked up and kept away from people." she grimaces. Byron rubs at his hands lightly and nods shortly in agreement, "I told him what it was and how he shouldnt even have that on him. That he needed to put it away somewhere and never, ever, mess with it. SO the last I know, he still has it. There was no chance in hell I was taking it off of his hands. I can still feel it in my head trying to talk to me. Trying to tell me you're dead and in the ground. I mean, /fuck/..." Ashe gives a look to her Gargoyle and she raises a hand to run along his shoulder and then his cheek, "You're going to be fine sweetheart. It's just...something that is needed to be locked away." she admits. "Maybe I can talk to him and see if he will let me lock it in the restricted section of the Library. Or a darker hole." she frowns. When he mentions it trying to tell him she's dead and in the ground there's a wince and she gives him squeeze, "Nope. I'm right here. Not going anywhere either." she tells him. Byron murmurs softly, "I know. I know, I know, I know, I know..." the words coming low and rapid like a small little mantra when she says she's right there, like just convincing himself of it. He turns his head to press a kiss to her ear and hugs her close in against his chest, and sighs, "Its that godsdamned alien voice that doesn't shut up. The Marquis, I learned how to tune him out after a while. Ignore him. Not forget he exists, but...yeah. But this is a new one." He takes a deep breath and lets it go, "Let me know and I'll go with you, I just dont want to handle the damned thing anymore." Ashe wraps her arms around him, or well, she tries to, and gives him another squeeze as he murmurs softly. "You won't have to handle it anymore." she tells him. "It's hard to tune some things out. But we can work on it. If I need to do anything just let me know." she states with a smile. "I'm taking it you just got back from seeing Ror?" she asks him. Byron digs his fingers in and gently scritches across her back when she squeezes, seeming to relax a little as she leans on him and talks to him. An affirmative nod of the head answers her question, "Yeah. He's probably still out deciding what the hell he's going to do with it. He looked as upset as I was that that's what he had been carrying around all this time." Ashe shakes her head, "You guys didn't know what it is. So there's no need to be upset with yourselves. We just need to hide it before it gets into the wrong hands. Or someone tries to come after it and hurts one of you two." she frowns. "I'll ask if he wants us to store it for safety. It'll be where we can get to it easily at least." she admits. Byron nods slowly, "That was my concern. Someone, or someTHING is going to come looking for it. Or it'll start calling to someone like one of those idiots like Jonah is, the Pantheon folks? They'll flock to that like moths to a flame. So...yeah. If you think the Library can seal it away pretty good, that sounds like a good idea to me." he turns his head again to press a light kiss to her temple, lowering his voice, "I was hoping you had a better idea than the weak ones I was coming up with." Ashe gives a frown as she remembers the abundance of Lost Pantheons around, "Yeah, that might be a problem, but I don't think November or anyone is wanting to be a Gentry though. I could be wrong though." she muses. She gives him a soft smile, the stitches in her cheeks pulling just a little, "Your ideas aren't weak." she tells him. Then she sighs softly, "Should we deal with this now?" she asks him. Byron mmmms softly, "When you get that close to things, I don't know that I would even trust my own judgement. You start thinking you can 'be better than that' and stuff....I think maybe just text him and we can catch him soon as he can manage? I dont think he's going to do something crazy with it, but within the day would probably be good. Maybe just mention it in the text that we have a place he can put it and see what he says?" Ashe gives him an understanding look, "It's something that really does make people a bit crazy sometimes. So I hope there's no lingering effects from it." she admits. "And yeah, I'll text the Buggo, hopefully we won't be stepping on his toes or making him paranoid." she tells him as she starts to slip her phone from her pocket.
Byron actually smirks, just a little at the last and murmurs, "Too late there. I think he's been in constant paranoia lately, long before this happened. I don't know what he's been getting into, but he seems to be having a rough time of it lately." He falls quiet while she dials, and lowers his head to rub the tip of his nose against her shoulder, whispering, "Appreciate you." Ashe pokes a few sentences into her phone and then settles it down beside them. She gives a sad chuckle, "Poor guy. Probably should have known about this sooner for his sake. It's probably so messed up." she shakes her head. When he whispers to her there's a smile, "I'm always here for you guys. I'm sorry you had to go through that today." she states softly. |
