A small note is tucked in with the archive:
The following information was taken from a book half-consumed by the crystal growths within the library. It pains me to think of the amount of data collected on the Fae which has been lost as a result, as every other page has likewise contained at least some snippet of information about various Titles and those who held them. This single page's worth of text is all that remains of The Lover's entry. - Emily Puffin, Autumn
Title: | Unknown. The Lover appears to be either a young, or relatively weak member of the True Fae, perhaps with few Titles. |
Domain: | Unknown, none witnessed |
Nickname: | The Lover |
Appearance: | In appearance, it is supernally beautiful[1], but has no attributes which could not be found on a human being, it is always female, and it is always lovely, no matter who regards it. Its hair is long, and it has only been seen to wear garments when gifted them by those it has targeted with its affections. |
Targets: | Changelings. The Lover has never been seen to target humans, even when given opportunity, side by side. It doesn't seem to notice them at all[2]. It doesn't mistreat them. Hobs are uniformly treated as servants, as of a generous noblewoman. They are not loved as Changeling targets are loved. |
Behavior: | The Lover lives up to its nickname: it loves everybody, unhesitating and truly, or as truly as any Fae can love. None of those who have witnessed its activities (see footnotes 2, 3, 5 and 13 for anecdotal evidence) have ever seen any evidence of violence, or true retribution for slights. The Fae appears to be incapable of anger in any form, though it often displays confusion or grief. If confronted or attacked, it will flee, and attempt to reconcile its 'lovers' by bringing them gifts and devoting itself to improving their situation. If given enough evidence that its target is truly in love with another person, its attentions cease. It appears to derive sustenance from these encounters. |
Footnotes:
[1] A variety of small sketches depicting the same person with slightly different features and hair colors/eye colors/minor body type alterations. A note with the sketches reads: sketched by Isen Harvhold, Freehold artist, based on target descriptions. [2] An incomplete document with large gaps, detailing a meeting with the Fae in a public cafe, wherein the Fae completely ignores every patron who is not a Changeling, even when struck at, until actual contact is made, whereupon it flees.
