The EyeOriginally named by a powerful and somewhat overdramatic member back in the early 1900s, "The All-Knowing Eye of Truth" was, after his death, quietly, immediately shortened to "The Eye" and otherwise kept intact. It is an organisation devoted to keeping track of, and training, anyone in the local area who displays hints of psychic talent. If you are a local psychic, unless you also have a lot of "I'm so sekrit" merits, they probably know of you, or have tried to contact/enlist you, whether or not they have told you so. Thaumaturges tend to keep to their own company, but they're aware of The Eye's existence, and a good number of them are involved in their business; they don't want attention any more than the psychics do. Leadership is maintained by people getting voted in for having notable power and experience. Politics is there, because people are people, but the secrecy/proven organisational skills are critical. The current leader is precognitive Mr. Allan Tyne, retired history professor and library donor. Part support group, part extracurricular education, part information repository, the group runs the Lethbridge Library in Fort Brunsett and keeps a written or recorded record of all psychic phenomena they can get their hands on (which is designed to give people a place to do Research rolls for plots!). The library has a lot of youth programs, partly as a convenient way of making sure no one will question teens going there and reading (or learning other skills in the back rooms...). Members wear the symbol of an open eye somewhere, and/or have it somewhere hidden in their shop front windows, signs, etc. The eye is a unique design, with a five-pointed star radiating out from the pupil, but can be any size/shape/colour. |
