“War mean fighting, and fighting means killing.”
– Nathan Bedford Forrest
Overview
Once upon a time, Malachi was a good kid. A good man. A student of the books first, then a student of the world, then of war. They say war changes a man, but what really changes them in being stripped from your world and your life in the middle of a war and then made into some psycho alien's warrior hunter and spending decades befriending others like yourself just to know one day they will 'escape' just so you can hunt them down and bring them back to be killed. Yeah, war changes a man, but not like this. Decades there were years here. He had already been filed under MIA in Kabul. He comes home a hero once found. But he never felt like one, just like a pretender to this world now.
Finding others like himself, Changelings, then others /like/ himself. Brutal killers, hunters of the most dangerous game. He found a second life as a 'Private Contractor' in the mundane world. A mercenary with Killian Security, taking their clients wars all across the globe while at the same time, as a Tolltaker Knight, hunting down targets in the same areas. Paid for both, he has done well enough for himself but there comes a time when the killing and the Wyrd become more important than the Man and he's finally reaching that place where choices have to be made and sarifices given to be who he truly needs to be.
RP Hooks
- Mercenary in Two Worlds - A paid warrior and solder and killer in both the mundane world and the Changeling world. Reputation as a Tolltaker is not always the one people want to hear, but they pay well, if quietly, when they need one.
- Redemption - Every horror story needs a slightly bright morning at the end when the good guys survive? Or maybe just a chance to unburden lifetimes of guilt and anger to start a better path?
Contacts
- Svetlana - Boss lady. Russian. No collusion.
- Signe - Silver Jesus. Artist. Might walk on water. Inconclusive.
- Name - It could be someone they loathe, an adversary or rival.
