| summary = Damion returned with the cute little hedge-kitten Haruki wanted to 'rescue' from the goblin market. Unfortunately things didn't go at all to plan. Having to leave town for a week on business, Haruki left the Scattercat in Widget's care, only to return to a cat-astrophe.

| log = Haruki's been gone a week, and while he tried to take the kitten with him, that really didn't happen after the third escape attempt. And so Itsuki was asked to look after the kitten, and Widget was asked to drop by and make sure things were all right. Haruki even offered to pay her for petsitting. Kitten is being kept in the clubhouse currently, when he's not escaping and munching on flowers, and chasing butterflies and making a nuisance of himself. 

Anyway Haruki's back home and has messaged Widget to let her know that.

Widget is super-excited to see the kitty! She brought catnip and toys and snacks and treats and all this shiny stuff and it was gonna be /great/! Sure, she had to wash all of them because she kinda scavanged most of it but they were still good. Plus, it might let Widget figure out where her can opener went. She must have dropped it when she last visited here. Widget pads into the building, looking around. "Haruki? Kitty?"

Haruki, wanders out of the Burrow, smiling and relieved to see Widget. "Hi Widget. How's it going?"

Kitty who is lurking on a tree branch currently, fur a shade of brown and green in order to blend in, attempts to pounce off the branch and onto Widget's head as she passes by. It's the friendliest he's been.

Widget smiles, waving at Haruki as she walks up. "Good. Very good! You?" She goes to hug him, only to feel a fuzzy presence on her head. She pauses, hand experimentally reaching up to give it a gentle poke. Oh! "Hi, Kitty!"

There's claws! Of course there's claws and there's a bit of biting at Widget's head, but none of it really with the intent to hurt. It changes to the same rusty colours of Widget's skin.

"Are you okay?" Haruki asks. "He wasn't too much trouble was he?" He'll hug Widget too, and smile. "He doesn't seem settled at all. He's so wild."

Widget can deal with claws! Those are friendly claws and teeth! It was almost like one of Damion's headscritches, but it hurt a lot more. And it was a kitty. But still! 

"No trouble! We had fun! Lots of fun! Stealy-scratchy-chasey fun! Yes." When Haruki mentions kitty's tiger-side, she nods, the kitten listing as she does. "Maybe he's just like that?"

"Do you think?" Haruki eyes the kitten. "But he's so young. So cute. Maybe he just hasn't been loved enough. I don't think he likes me." He admits. "But I imagine he's been really traumatised by everything he's been through." The kitten's tail lashes back and forth.

"Aw! He likes you! Honest!" Another hug for Haruki, Widget smiling at him. "Really! Come see!" She takes his hand, tugging him towards the clubhouse. "They say that. About me. But I'm still okay!" Yes, girl with cat on her head. Yes.

Haruki lets Widget tug him along and smiles as they enter the clubhouse. The kitten is happy to ride along as some sort of weird furry hat. "They say what about you?"

Widget opens the door, leading Haruki in. "That I should be traumatized. Don't get it. Anyway!" Widget sweeps her arm around at...destruction. The furniture has been clawed to ribbons, even things made out of wood. There's a table piled with damp small objects, all shiny and colorful. They seem to lean towards expensive and sentimental things for the bunny. Some of them are totally destroyed and seemingly packed into tight balls. Just about everything high-up or placed near edges has been knocked over, and most shattered. "Tried to stop him but I had to sleep after a few days and he tore stuff up then and this is all the stuff he ate and threw up and I tried taping all the knocked-over stuff together but then he ate the tape and I think he stole all your underwear and I can't find it." Widget nods, gingerly depositing Kitty on the wrecked couch, next to a bunch of cleaning supplies. This was /after/ she fixed it all up.

Haruki stares at the destruction his eyes going wide with horror. "Oh no." He says. "Oh no. Nathania's going to be so mad." And then. "Poor Kitten." His hands are trembling. "I don't know how to fix this. I don't know how to help him."

Kitty of course decides it's the perfect time to try and eat the cleaning supplies.

Widget gives Haruki a pat on the back. "I-it's okay! Some of the stuff is okay a-and..." Wait, what's Kitty doing? "No! Not for Kitty! Will get sick!" She's wrestling a bar of soap out of his mouth, now. Ha! He let go! ...To hork a day-glo puddle of floor-cleaner all over the rug. And Haruki's clothes, almost like he turned specifically to do that! "See?"

Haruki gets kitty spit on and... ewww. and he just can't cope with any of this, unlike Widget. He wants to crumple and wail and break down into pieces and... "I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do. He can't go back. I can't..."

Kitty is busy spewing all over things Haruki cares about, so Widget has time to warmly hug him. "It's okay. It's okay! Things happen sometimes. Breathe. Breathe now. Yes." Rusty hands rub his back, the gremlin making small soft noises. "Can do anything? To help?"

Haruki breathes like he's asked to. He doesn't cry. No. There's no tears. And gremlin hugs help a bit and. "Can... can you take him back to Damion? Find him a good home. Not me? Maybe take him to the vet?" Oops did he say the v word? "It's not that I don't love him. Just. He needs someone who... he needs to be safe and protected and loved and looked after and I can't. I've no idea how. Please?"

"Okay. Okay. Yes. Can do that. He'll be okay. You'll be okay. You're good and nice and this isn't your fault. Yes. Will take care of him." She's still very calm and comforting, but internally she's squealing like a maniac. Kitty! Still, she hoped Haruki wasn't too hurt. He might not like what's gonna happen, coz the v-word makes Kitty really- 

There's the sound of several very expensive things in the kitchen knocked over in unison. 

-mad.

Haruki's expensive Japanese tea-set in the kitchen, it's got to be that, that's smashed off the shelves, and he can't even process those broken pieces. It's just things. Doesn't matter. Then why does he feel like he's broken into shards too. With his clothes all strewn about and... and now .. and... "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He says. "Please stop. Please."

Oh. Ohnonono. No, please don't cry. She tried really, really hard but she had to sleep eventually and Kitty did bad things then and she's gonna fix it and just...just.. 

No. This was not okay. 

Widget huffs, turning to scamper over to the kitchen. It's a very thing for her to shout like that, and even rarer for her to sound /commanding/, but she was actually kind of upset. 

"KITTY! STOP!"

And the kitty does as he's told. Maybe it's because he's run out of things to smash. Maybe it's because he secretly respects Widget. Perhaps he's scared. Or perhaps he's just bored of it all. Or maybe he's tired himself out, because suddenly he's a very picture of innocence. The cutest most adorable looking one eyed kitten ever, all normal cat colours, and he purrs and slowly blinks at her. 

Haruki. Well Haruki's another matter.
 
Widget scoops up the kitten, holding it tightly to her chest as she stalked out of the kitchen. The tigerstripe terror finds itself held out in front of Haruki by a very stern-sounding gremlin. "Say sorry! Yes." 

*Huuuurrrkghlhrrr-* 

Widget huffs, stuffing the cat into one of the baggy pockets of her jumpsuit. There. She lined it with catnip and soft-stuff so it'd be fine. Now...uh. Wow. Haruki was just...just covered. "G-gonna be okay?" Those poor clothes.

Ewww ewww ewwwww. Haruki gets covered in... oh let's not think about it at all. Definitely not. Yuck. He just nods at Widget. He thinks of the shower. Please just take the kitty and leave. He doesn't say that but he's sure thinking it.

Widget awkwardly pats Haruki on the head, walking out with the kitty squirming in her clothes. Sure, he could shower. Provided he cleaned it, because kitty /destroyed it/. The shower alone...well, there's only so much even Widget could do. They'd have to chisel some of that stuff off. Still! Provided Haruki could tolerate the horrific odor, the awful colors, and the greasy texture, he'd be fine! Just fine.
