The Broadcast

After a commerical break, there's a moment of silence, before a familiar voice comes over the airwaves. Prim, proper, poised, and so very English. "Hel-lo Fort Brunsett..." she says. "This is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green, broadcasting from the WFBR studios, bringing to you New Music Friday. I've a very exciting show for you today and we've a lot of ground to cover, so lets dive right into it. This is the latest from Foo Fighters and it's called The Line." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TsNkgW2ox0 Foo Fighters - The Line

"I am, of course," Green says as the song concludes, "So very excited about their upcoming album, Concrete and Gold. I'm not even a little ashamed to say it... I love Dave Grohl." Green takes a moment, surely thinking about that love, before she continues. "Now then. I was not here last week. I missed you all dearly. I am absolutely chuffed to be back in the studio, and to save you all from being held hostage by the habitual rule breaker, Ms. Heath Smith a.k.a. Little Miss Villainy." There's a pause, then she continues. "I hope you all know that it wasn't my desire. No, I did not want to go speak to a dozen lawyers for days on end. And so, I hope you all can forgive me. I hope you all might have some... sympathy." Pause. "This is Motörhead covering the Stones. I give you Sympathy For The Devil." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fe123TNRS0 Motörhead - Sympathy For The Devil

"Lovely. Now, that one is not new. But it is off a newly released album called Under Cover," Green says, as she returns to the airwaves. "Before we move on... This is WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio and I am your host Amanda Green playing new music for your Friday. If anyone would like to call in, to recommend a song, to chit chat, to ask me how my day is going... have at!" she says. "And while I wait for my admirers, here's STORK with Cane Toad." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VqG0c3CG_Y STORK - Cane Toad

"Now, that is STORK the band from Australia. Not the metal group, Stork. Which... I am sure you all were concerned with..." Green daintily clears her throat. "Next up we have... Deep breath... a new track from George Michael." Green goes quiet. "Well, it's not exactly new. This is a rework of Michael's '90 b-side track, done by none other than Nile Rodgers. It's titled Fantasy. And I am going to dedicate this track to absolutely no one at all." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdOSUIXlI0I George Michael ft Nile Rodgers - Fantasy

"How do I follow that up?" Green asks, as she returns to the airwaves. "What can I put on after George Michael that doesn't just... fall flat?" she asks, then pauses, as if she might allow the listeners at home to shout their guesses at the radio. "That's right! Michael Jackson. This is a rework... Yes, Heather. It's another rework! A mash up of Blood on the Dance Floor and Dangerous by The White Panda." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXfokSKZ0QA Michael Jackson - Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous (The White Panda Mash-Up)

"Now, I can't match that. Won't try. Merely," Green says, as her lovely voice returns to the airwaves, "I will try to give you somethign that flows with it. Here's Break The Fever by Mutemath." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od1MT-g6w8E MUTEMATH - Break The Fever (Sensitivity warning!! Lots of flashing!!)

"This is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green bringing you New Music Friday from the WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio studio, and that was Break The Fever from Mutemath," Green says. Then a pause. "And now, let's go to a special something. This is Heterotopia from Oliver & Yelle." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYIIP4iu-vA Oliver & Yelle - Heterotopia

"A song about escaping... about finding a better place..." Green purrs into the mike. It's followed by a wistful sigh. "Mmm... if only..." she whispers. Then a deep breath, and her voice is back to normal. "New from a band called HAARM... that's two 'A's in there... this is Valentine." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o1TEPvcz70 HAARM - Valentine

"Lovely... Now. Let's step back into the known," Green says. "Kelly Clarkson has announced her new album, Meaning of Life. The first single off that is titled Love So Soft... and I love it." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy6vBxqlapw Kelly Clarkson - Love So Soft

"That was Kelly Clarkson with Love So Soft... And this is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green bringing you New Music Friday on Fort Brunsett Radio, WFBR," Green says. "Let's stay in the known world for a bit, shall we? ... This is Up All Night by Beck." https://youtu.be/Tj08Ni3tklw?t=28s Beck - Up All Night

"Let's stay where we're nice and comfy and warm and snug for another few minutes, shall we?" Green asks. "Something new but not at all new. Something that doesn't make you think too hard. Something that doesn't get you out of that rock you're living under. Something that... well, I'll be honest, I'm surprised it wasn't more disappointing. This is You're The Best Thing About Me by..." Sigh! "U2." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbGSiJ9iat8 U2 - You're The Best Thing About Me

"Well... that's it, Fort Brunsett. That about wraps it all up. I had gotten a request from someone who wants to change their very molecules to make me happy, but the bloody track is on a Spotify exclusive. So, sorry love..." Green says, the warmth and sympathy plain in her voice. "I do hate to disappoint. But, well, sometimes it happens... Thank you for your ears, Fort Brunsett. Thank you for your airwaves, WFBR. I'll be back next week." And then the airwaves go quiet.

For about thirty seconds. Then another track starts playing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8jxAKmojxY
