The Broadcast

A top 40 song ends and there's a moment of silence before a different voice comes over the airwaves. "Broadcasting from the WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio this is New Music Friday with your host, me, Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green," says the woman with the delightful English accent. "I am so very pleased to be here with you all today, though I do have to hope that no one is cooped up inside an office listening to this," she says. "No, because it is a gorgeous day. Blinding, really. So, if you do happen to be inside? I suggest you get up, right now, and start out the door. If your boss stops you, let them know it's all right. Her Royal Majesty has given you permission," Green says, and it's followed by a breathy laugh.

"Now, summer is finally here in Vermont. It arrived just in time, too. So, let's start off with a song that seems perfect for the end of summer. This is Weezer's latest, Beach Boys." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsG37JcEQNw Weezer - Beach Boys

"What do we think of that?" Green asks, as she returns to the mike. "Sounds like Weezer, certainly. I can't say I'm too impressed. But it's nice," she says, the smile on her lips heard so well in her voice. "Now, picking music today was quite difficult. Sooooo much new. So much that sounding similar. Picking you out a variety was quite the task. Which means I worked for you all, and I do hope you appreciate me for it," says Green. "This is La Vecina Del Patio by a man who I want to kiss on the mouth... Manu Chao, along with Chalart58." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vntBdBOGjK8 Manu Chao / Chalart58 : LA VECINA DEL PATIO

"That was Manu Chao and Chalart58 with La Vecina Del Patio," Green says once more. "And this is Amanda Green broadcasting live from the WFBR studios," she adds. "So, I am in here, by my lonesome, staring longingly out the tiny studio window. And I can't help but wonder... what are you all getting up to tonight?" she asks. "Going to howl at the moon? Going to set the world on fire? Maybe kiss a pretty redhead? ... Call or text me. Talk to me. Give me something fun to air." Pause. "New from Fergie, featuring Nicki Minaj, this is You Already Know." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ifnaxi2LQg Fergie - You Already Know ft. Nicki Minaj

"What do we think of that one? Pure gold? Not so much?" Green asks. "I think... I will spend this weekend laying out in the sun. Supposed to be over eighty tomorrow! And Lord knows I could use the sun..." There's a pause. "I heard from my most favorite proprietor of rainbows. She's told me she's going to spend the weekend on her back. Bit cheeky, but I'll not deny it sounds lovely. Enjoy, love," Green says, that smile of hers heard so clearly once more. "Let's keep moving... This is Jamie xx - another man I'd like to kiss on the mouth - remixing The xx's On Hold." https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=38&v=IYvEhgYy35I The xx - On Hold (Jamie xx Remix)

"We have many, many new albums out today. Foo Fighters have finally dropped theirs... though I have opted to not play another Foo Fighters track. You're welcome, Franklyn. I'll leave you all to listen to that on your own. Or not. I'm not the cops..." Green says, followed by another soft laugh. Someone's clearly in a good mood today. "Another new album is The Aviary, by Galantis. This is from that album, and it's titled Hello." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l96gLKRQRQU Galantis - Hello

"That was Hello by Galantis - one of my favorite EDM groups - and this is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green. As I continue to play new tracks for you, I can't help but realize I gave blanket permission for all of Fort Brunsett to skip out on their jobs," Green pauses, and her tone turns a touch ominous. "That does not include you, Heather. Get back to work," she says, in her stern schoolmaster voice. "Right. Now, as I speak of Heather, I can't help but think about... Mistakes. This is a song titled Mistakes by Tove Styrke." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQDzUhHpJ6s Tove Styrke - Mistakes

"And... while I'm on the subject of Heather... Let's get a little weird, in her honor. This is Robot Man by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw7BwMRrdB0 Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Robot Man

"What did we think of that?" Green asks. "I dig it," she decides. "I've had one of my loyal listeners texting in, apparently under the impression that I make a mess when I'm in the DJ booth. I want to assure her and all my loyal listeners, I do not make messes. Admittedly, I have had guests who have made messes, but I am never the one making the mess. I am neat and tidy," Green says, ever so prime and proper. "Right. Lets take a turn. Go somewhere a bit different. This is a song titled Curve by Gucci Mane, featuring everyone's favorite, The Weeknd. And let's pretend it's not all cut up to be made radio safe, yeah?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI1C_zEVNmI Gucci Mane - Curve ft. The Weeknd

"Now, I have a song that I am excited about. But I can't exactly put that against Gucci Mane. So, let's hear from Lana Del Rey," says HRM Green, as she returns to the airwaves. "This is White Mustanghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4ELqraXx-U Lana Del Rey - White Mustang

"She's just so lovely," Green sighs out into the microphone. There's a pause, then she clears her throat. "Sorry, right, live broadcast. Which, yes, this is a live broadcast. You are listening to Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green on WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio. This is New Music Friday, and here's something new. The band is called Hodera. The song is called North Dakota. Sounds made up, I think? Anyways... stick with it for a minute. Then let me know if it's as enjoyable as I think it is." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFJjWRJGm1s Hodera - North Dakota

"Just a few more left... out of the many, many choices, I feel obliged to play the new Fall Out Boy," says Amanda Green. "This is The Last Of The Real Ones." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YAAyUFL1GQ Fall Out Boy - The Last Of The Real Ones

"Hm. I realize I've queued up a few rock bands in a row. Well, this one has actually been labeled as 'bart-punk-ska'. Which means it should be fine, right? Right. So, then, this a band called YUNGBLUD. That's spelled without any 'o's," Green says. "And this is called I Love You, Will You Marry Me." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA5Vb7Ptgrw YUNGBLUD - I Love You, Will You Marry Me

"That does it, Fort Brunsett. I've used up almost all my time," Green says, over the airwaves once more. "I want to thank you all, citizens of Fort Brunsett and Tamarack Falls, for tuning in. For calling and texting in. For making this show possible," says Green into the microphone. "This has been Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green bringing you New Music Friday on behalf of WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio. And now, before I go... Does anyone know where to pick up a Birkin bag?" she asks. There's a faint little laugh. "To play us out... here's The Killers." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqcqfJQW_jw The Killers - Some Kind Of Love
