The Broadcast

The pair of hosts handling the Friday Morning show give their sign offs, and a few moments later, another voice comes on the air. "Good morning, Fort Brunsett. Once again this is Amanda Green, bringing to you New Music Friday! Let's hope this makes your lunch house just a bit better... We'll start the show off with something nice and easy. This is off Phoenix's new album, Ti Amo, and it's titled Tuttifrutti..."

"Rather nice way to start the show, I think. I do love Phoenix... Now, once again, this is Amanda Green, broadcasting on WFBR, Fort Brunsett Radio. I am here for the new couple of hours, presenting to you New Music Friday. So, have a comment? A request for something new? Please feel free to give me call. And we'll now move from France to England... This is Sea Girls, and their single Call Me Out

"What do we all think of that?" that lovely British-accented voice asks. She could be a BBC broadcaster, really. "New band, best I know, just getting their feet. I believe they have a future. Which, speaking of...”

"And now the voice cuts over again, to a recording. Some might recognize the voice of the author C.B. Alexander. "Do me a solid and play some 'new music' I might like? Something not so...electronic, maybe? I know you'll probably just yank my chain and play some space disco or something instead..."”

"So, no space disco," says Green, back on the microphone. "From Melbourne, Oz, here's Drunk Mums, with Ode to Death. Do tell me know how that suits your tastes, Mr. Alexander.”

"I'm rather positive I'll be hearing back from Mr. Alexander, so, I'll let you all know what he thought of that song," Green says, after the song concludes. "From a new up and comer to a rather popular staple... This is Foster The People with a rather different sound. This track's titled Loyal Like Sid & Nancy

"Any thoughts on that? Definitely not Pumped Up Kicks," Green says, with a little laugh. "As always, feel free to phone me here at the radio station. Which, oh, I'm supposed to... yes, yes. This is Amanda Green, and you are listening to WFBR, Fort Brunsett Radio." Green pauses, wherein anyone who knows her can imagine the cheesy nose-scrunch at being legally obliged to read off the radio station call letters. "Now, before we continue, I received a call from... well. Billy Ray - not Cyrus - has called in to give a shout out to his new enterprise, Hold Mah Beer," And yes, that's Amanda Green doing a fairly lousy impression of Billy Ray. "He invites you all to come down tonight and drink beer while you shoot, presumably at targets and not each other...”

"I'm Billy Ray Johnson, say howdy!" come out, in Billy Ray's own voice. "Lovely," Green says. "So... Here's something a little different. A little funky. Calvin harris featuring Schoolboy Q, Party Next Door, and D.R.A.M. This is Cash Out

"Though I'm fairly certain Mr. Alexander did not enjoy that last one, he did call back in," Green says. The voice cuts over to a recording. "Hey, it's C.B. I know you were just hanging around waiting to find out what I think," and he has a chuckle in his voice, "so I thought I'd tell you, that was pretty good! Glad to see the Kinks continue to be reincarnated, may they never die.”

"May they never die," Green echoes, solemnly, as she gets back on the mic. "Of course, since you called back, I simply must play some Space Disco. This one is a touch older, but the remixes were just released. And I prefer the original. So, here we are, 3LAU (pronounce Blau), with On My Mind"

"Ahem. Well, it would seem I have misunderstood Mr. Johnson. Y'all can drink, or shoot, or shoot then drink. But one mustn't drink whilst shooting, nor before shooting," Green says, taking her time to over-enunciate those words. "Apologies for the misunderstanding, Mr. Johnson," she says."

"Now, again, this is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green broadcasting New Music Friday on Radio Fort Brunsett! I've just played a bit of Space Disco... and now I can't help but want a little more! Last one, I promise. Unless someone calls in with a request." Green clears her throat. "This is for a small town with an oddly roaring nightlife. This is Creatures Of The Night by Hardwell and Austin Mahone."

[Fri Jun 30 10:22:50 2017] <WFBR> Her Royal Majesty "I do love Hardwell, though I have my suspicions he might not be human. The man tours, produces a podcast every week, produces new music, makes his own..." Green gives a wistful sigh. "Well. Enough fantasizing about Dutchmen. Here's a new one by In The Valley Below, a duo that I only just learned of. This is Bloodhands."

[Fri Jun 30 10:41:28 2017] <WFBR> Her Royal Majesty : "I dig it. I very much dig it... Well. My time with you lovely people is coming to a close! I've got one more song to play us out, but before I do, I want to wish you all a wonderful weekend! And a lovely 4th of July... Though I am still not sure what that holiday is about. You lot won a war or something...?" There's a moment's pause. "This has been Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green at WFBR Fort Brunsett Radio. And here's the beautiful crooning of Alex Cameron to sing us out..."
