The Broadcast

"Good morning Fort Brunsett... This is Her Royal Majesty Amanda Green, broadcasting from the WFBR studios," comes a delightfully British voice, over the airwaves. "I have come today as I do every Friday... to bring you new music. To open your eyes and your ears. To hopefully... hopefully... inspire just a bit of passion in all you lovely people..."

There's a short pause, and then the voice continues. "And why shouldn't we start this broadcast off with passion? Or at least, one particular form of it. This is Desire by Everything Everything." Everything Everything - Desire / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrLfU45Gi2w

"Once again this is Amanda Green broadcasting New Music Friday from the WFBR studios... If anyone would like to speak to Her Royal Majesty - that's me - please feel free to call in. If you have a song request - something that's new - I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, maybe you just want to chat?" Green asks over the airwaves. "Sticking with our theme... Passion... and Desire... this is a song I'll dedicate to... myself. Miss Amanda Green, this is I Don't Want It All by Kim Petra." Kim Petra - I Don't Want It All / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqQFW2M52Ag

"We've had a few hot days in a row... Days where laying out near the pond is all but perfect. Days where flirty hemlines and tank tops are all too appropriate... Anyone take advantage of these summery days? Hit the town? Live a little wild?" Green asks over the airwaves. "New by Jax Jones, this is Instruction, featuring Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don." "You know, Fort Brunsett..." that lovely British voice says over the airwaves. "I struggled today. And not simply because I was up sampling scotch until the wee hours last night. I struggled today to select which songs I'd bring to you. So many good new releases this week. And I can't help but think I might be leaving you all a bit short on what you really ought to hear..." There's a pause. "But, I do my best, yeah? Is there anything more we can do, beyond our best?" she asks. "Here's Changes by Hazers." Hazers - Changes / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSbkfCJbtmg

"Anyone out there ever change for a person?" Green asks, as her voice returns to the airwaves. "Anyone ever try to capture something that was already gone? To go back in time?" she asks. "Hm. This is Amanda Green at the WFBR studios bringing you New Music Friday." Pause. "Let's go over to Kesha, who has given all us sinners something to sing, just for us. This is Hymn." Kesha - Hymn / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BttTkcU4a1c

The song plays out and, once again, Green's voice is back. "Now that I've slowed us down, let's keep it slow for a moment. A few weeks back, I played Alex Cameron for you all. The song was lovely, and because of it, I had a certain someone accuse me of causing her to have feelings. Well, love, let's see if Mr. Cameron can do it again. This is Alex Cameron in a duet with Angel Olson. I give you Stranger's Kiss." Caution! Video starts with a woman in her underwear. Might be risqué for work. "A stranger's kiss..." Green says, as she takes to the microphone again. "Well. I've a lot to say on the topic, but you all don't tune in just to hear me waffle, did you?" she asks. "New from Lorde, this is Perfect Places." Lorde - Perfect Places / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0DjcsK_-HY

"Still blown away by that young woman's story. So very talented, she is," Green says. "Speaking of young... This is Young, Dumb, and Broke from Khalid." Khalid - Young Dumb & Broke / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPfJnp1guPc

"Thank you, Fort Brunsett, Tamarack Falls, anyone out in the sticks that catches this broadcast," says Amanda Green. "Thank you, Fort Brunsett Radio, for lending me your studio and your radio waves." There's a pause, then the woman continues. "This has been New Music Friday with your host, Her Royal Majesty, Amanda Green. To play us out, I have a song that is not new, a song that has been played many, many times... but that will be present on a new album being released in September. This is Van Morrison covering Sam Cooke's nineteen fifty eight classic, Bring It On Home To Me. Have a lovely, lovely weekend, Fort Brunsett."
